  4. Love the pictures. I didnt know they hosted weddings there. I was there in 2004 and had a great time on the day trip to Las Calitas. Look slike you had a great time. Thanks for sharing and congrats!
  5. We are getting married at Sandos Playacar Beach resort and then planning on moving to another resort for our honeymoon. The reason being, is most people I have spoken to say that two weeks at one resort is sometimes a little much. That they got bored of the resort and food. It was almost better doing 10 day vs 14. So we decided to go to another resort as I dont want to have a 10 day stay - I want all 14! lol If anyone has any ideas of where we should stay for our honeymoon that isnt too expensive I would love to here from you!
  6. I have always bought both. The shower gift is just for the girlfriend anyways. I always spend about $50 on the shower gift and depending on the person $50-$150 on the wedding gift. Hope that helps!
  7. Hi Ladies, Congrats to all of you who have lost weight! Way to go! I am on my way too. I border on the "plus line" as I am anywhere from a 12-14. I actually was a size 18 but due to weight watchers Im down to a 12/14. My guy and I are actually on Weight watchers together and have been doing really well. He has already lost 15 lbs and I have lost 10lbs. UGh! Hate it that guys loose the weight so much faster! lol! Clothes are still somewhat of an issue but mainly bc Im so tall. In canada we have a store called "tall Girl" and its fabulous. The clothes can get expensive at times, but atleast I dont have an issue with length anymore. I'm 5'9 and supposidly still growing as per my doc - who knew you could do that after 18 yrs of age?? I think its actually bc of the weight loss and now maybe my posture is better? Anyways, glad the thread is on here.... Congrats to all of you and keep up the good work.
  8. If someone gave you back too much change, would you give it back or walk out of the store? If it was something I was accountable for and my name was at stake, yes. Otherwise it would be a no bc I dont beleive in getting involved with office politics nor do I put my nose in others people's business.
  9. Im really sorry to hear that....I was watching the news yesterday night and up here in Canada they says things are turning around quite well. If our economic outlook is starting to get better, then your must be turning around too, bc we are so closely linked. OUr countries are so closely linked that it will be only a matter of time things get better. Don't loose hope, there is something out there for you. I am a firm beleiver that your are always where your supposed to be (things happen for a reason) and maybe this happened bc a better opportunity is coming your way. And if you were employed maybe you wouldnt have taken the time to persue and now that your not, you would be willing to. I bet you something so much better is on the horizon for you and your gonna be so happy you had that wonderful summer with your FI bc you lost your job and you wont ever look back. Dont stress to much...try to stay positive...I know its hard to do....but things always happen when youleast expect them to. I'm sending good vibes to you! I wish you all the luck and hope something comes your way really soon! Catch the hugs!
  10. Red Deer is good for me - the only place I can think of is possibly Moxies...they have some killer drinks there...lol

I've tried on a million and one dresses many with a similar top (sweetheart neckline), many with similar shapes (sheath/a line), many with the same chiffon fabric. Basically everywhere I went just said to try on similar styles since they didn't have the exact or extremely close styles. I also tried a bunch of other styles. Some I did surprisingly feel overexposed in, but I think the plunge on 4884 is modest enough... It's just a bummer to not be able to try the exact ones, but I didn't find any that I liked as much as these two. Some keep the opinions coming it's very helpful! With that in mind, I guess the only thing you can do is try to find an online vendor that has good return policies. I went on houseofbrides.com and found a few dresses on there. They told me that if I ordered two dresses and I didnt like one of them I could send it back without a penalty. However, If I didnt like either dress, there was some sort of restocking fee or soemthing like that. Have you found an online distributer that has both dresses? Check out their return policies and then get them...cause I want to see how they look on you!!!!

  19. I live just outside Didsbury in the county. We are planning on getting married in Jan 2011 in the Mayan Riviera. Glad to see some other people from the area on here. Would love to do a GTG - keep me posted!
  20. Thats always hard. I like the ID 4884 better but its hard to say when its not on you. Some dresses look great in the pictures but isnt as flattering once you get it on. I found that out when I was trying on dresses I saw online - looked great but on me...well not so great. lol If you are planning to order online, alot of places allow you to order both and return the other without a penalty or restocking fee. However if you dont like either, most places do have a fee. I found quite a few dresses online that I liked but when I tried them on I didnt like them at all. It was actually the bridal consultants that found the dresses that I absolutely loved. Have you tried going to a few boutiques yet and having one of them help you?
  21. Im sure you have had alot of responses but here is what I did. Initially I figured out I wanted Mexico, so I went to the TA and asked her for a print out of all the resorts available in my price range. Then she gave me all the travel brochures and I started looking at thise vs the print out. Once I had it narrowed down to about 5 resorts I went on trip advisor and started researching there. I then had it narrowed down to 3 resorts and spoke with my TA about the resorts and looked on here about those resorts, along with wedding pkg info etc. I finally narrowed my search down and subsribed to the corresponding threads to keep on top of all the information. It took me about 2 weeks to get a better idea of what I was looking for, resrt, ammenities, wedding pkg, etc but now Im very happy with my decision of resort. I have been to mexico many times and know the areas pretty well so it wasnt as hard of a choice for me. i knew I didnt want the Cancun area and I didnt want to be in the middle of no where in the Mayan Rivieria too, so I was able to anil down my choices a little better then too. I picked the resort that best suited my needs as well as my guests. You cant go wrong...just do a lot of research prior to committing to somewhere bc the last thing you want to be feeling is that you picked the wrong resort 4 months down the road. You have to pick the resort that best suits you, bc what suits one DW bride on here may not suit the rest.... Good Luck and enjoy planning!
  22. AS the other ladies have said on here...its your day so do what you want to do. I too changed from one resort to another to another for the same reasons. But in the end, I decided on the resort that I could afford as well as keeping in mind my family in friends in regards to finances and ammenities for the resort. I think you need to be prepared to have people decline due to finances or timing or whatever the reason may be. Regardless of an in town wedding or DW - you never get a full attendance due to circumstance. If it is really important to have your BF their and you can find another resort that is just as great as the one you originally wanted to go to and your sincerly okay with changing then change it. But again it is you day so you have to go with your heart. You might have to ask yourself who "need" to be present at your wedding and try to work with that based on your response. In the end you dont want to resent people bc you didnt get to have the resort you wanted....so you have to choose what is more important...having certain people there for sure and changiny your resort or is having the resort you want for your wedding more important. No one can decide this for you and no one should fault you for the decision you make. As for Q#3 - I sort of put the word out there very early to see how people responded. In the end I am picking a place and time and sending out my STD and I will go with the flow. Whether we have 5 people there or 20......I really hope everyone can come, but will be okay if they cant. So long as I get to marry him, thats all that really matters to me....dont get me wrong, I would love to have all of my family there and all my friends but sometimes its just not in the cards. Good luck with your decision...just remember to own your decision and you will be happy with it in the end.
