  1. Curious, if anyone has or has come across a map of The Royal Cancun. I was hoping to put the map on the back of my welcome letter, only ive only found one off of expedia, and its not what I was looking for.
  2. For Cancun, your best bet is Coco Bongos, so much fun! its like a las vegas show meets Cancun night life. Someone mentioned La boom, but thats been closed for a few years now, although that place was the shit, excuse my language. There is also daddy O, fun, but better off going to Coco' and then there the City, which is like a NY club, very upscale, celebs are known to frequent, but it depends on your seen, it gets a bit "frisky" in there, when I was there in Nov, they were literally handing out drugs in the VIP section. You can get a "hopper pass" and go to almost every bar/club they have in Cancun, dont remember the price off hand, but I believe you get free drinks at every place. Then there Senor frogs and carlos and charlies and margaritaville, but you can go to those places anywhere. As far as PDC, they have tons of bars.
  3. Dont sress, i have never received travel documents for any trip booked through a TA until 45 days prior to take off
  4. I agree. I have 5 girls with my MOH, all have different body types, I took the 2 who I knew would have the most difficulty with feeling secure in any dress, and I picked the dress according to them, the other 3 bridesmaids are tiny and will have no issue with the dress. I guess honesty is always the best but if the dresses have already been picked and ordered and paid for it may be a pain in the ass. What about having the dress altered? Maybe a tailor can get the straps the way you wanted. Victorias secret also sells those um, not spankys, that are supposed to take you in a bit, they work wonders! Im kind of dealing with a situation with my brother, hes a groomsman, and hes a big guy 6'4 maybe close to 300lbs, and my Fiance decided on the guys wearing Burberry polos, only the largest size they have is 2x and they cater to a much slimmer body type. I told my fiance from the getco my bro' would never fit into it, but we still asked my brother to try it on, and it was not flattering AT ALL. To say the least my fiance is upset and frustrated, because truth be told any brand that my fiance may decide on probably will not fit my brother.
  5. On Expedia, it tells you, you need to be 18 or older to stay at the royal, at one point I assumed it was 16 'cause I had guests book through a TA and they were bringing there 16 year old daughter, until the TA called back the next day and told them you have to be atleast 18 years of age, so they moved thier reservation to the Gran.
  6. Hello, getting married in Cancun in June, were getting married at homr in NY prior, and no one will know, but our witness and just going with the civil ceremony in Mexico. But im curious about the process? I guess I change my name after mexico? So I dont have to apply for a new passport before hand?
  7. My WC was Kimberly, however she is no longer with the company and I was now assigned to Angie,(dont feel bad I havent heard from her either) However you wont find out who your onsite WC will be, until 2 weeks prior to your wedding. We opted to find our own photographers verses using the Royals and were using Lincoln and Lori of Moment that matter, you can find them on this site. I met with both of them on our site inspection as well, and they were wonderful. We are getting married at the Gazebo on the gran side, because its more private, and you can do the cocktail hour right there, the gazebo on the royal side is more out in the open in the middle of the pool grounds. But yes with the newly reconstructed beach, thats always an option.

This way we dont have to choose one meal option for everyone from the choices the wedding coordinator gives us, instead everyone chooses what they want to eat off the menu just like they normall would do for dinner that night at their resort. What do you guys think, can this work? I remember a past bride said she was going to try to do this for her rehearsal dinner but never heard if she went though with it.. Also - anyone who has eaten at the restaurants at The Gran Porto - any restaurants you liked the best or think would be best for a party of 25? Thanks! I was thinking about doing this, only they'll only push tables together for upto 10 people.
  9. Hello, Not in NJ, Over in Staten Island. I would say try short hills mall, they have plenty of stores and then of course nordstroms. My fiance just wants linen pants but we havent looked around yet, all Spring lines come out in Feb' and I figure there will be more of selection then. Good luck ill keep you posted if I come across any, and vice versa.
  10. Hi CoachD, Getting married at the Royal Cancun, June 19th (hi Lincoln & Lori) There are a couple of threads on here for the resort, I can try and answer whatever questions you may have. Ive stayed there twice and had my site inspection in Late November.
  11. Hello Ladies, I havent posted in awhile but I thought id chime in. After my 4th phone call to the WC office in Michigan, I finally spoke to Angie yesterday on the phone, but first I had to play the im going to cancel game and have all my guests who've already booked change their hotel and then like that someone other then the receptionist got on the phone. Angie claims as of yesterday they have someone at Kimberlys desk forwarding all emails to the new WC's, however she says she is very familiar with my "wedding" and she will be my new coordinator. Still though have not received any email from her regarding my very important question and was told she'd be in touch with the answer by last night. I saw some posts about the cocktail hour, we are doing it, even if it wasnt included in the package, I feel you need to have that. However apparently with the luxury package it is not open bar, its only champagne, i can upgrade to open bar and hot appetizers as well for i believe an extra $15 pp. I realize they need to make their money but the hotel is all inclusive and all of my guest are booked at the royal, so I find it absurd that I would have to pay. Im sticking with just the champagne and cold appetizers for now. Im also trying to put together a "welcome/rehearsal dinner" for Friday night but was told by Kimberly that If it wasnt held in one of the restaurants I would have to use the same menu as my wedding reception? I was hoping she meant I would need to pick from the wedding menu and that I wasnt being limited to the same entrees i am serving the next night. However I havent had any of these questions answered, apparently just like everyone else and if my wedding wasnt 5 months away, I would 100% change resorts.
  12. hey girls, getting married at the royal cancun june 19th 2010. Over the last few weeks ive been emailing Kimberly trying to finalize things and add some extras on, after not recieving any replies I decided to call the office in Michigan on Wed. I was told Kimberly was no longer working with the company, I asked when that happened and they said 2 weeks ago. Which is awesome seeing that no one bothered to get in contact with me. I was told I would have a new WC assigned to me by that night, thursday the latest. No one has contacted me. Ive been calling the office all day, the phone line is busy. Im pretty annoyed and aggravated I have all of my vendors looking for me to answer questions, that I can not answer until I hear from a WC. For the last 6 years, ive worked as a "right hand" to a wedding coodinator, I am so glad my company is proffessional. On another note, Ive stayed at the royal twice prior, once in the swim upsuite, which is nice, but not private at all, your pool basically runs into your neighbors, I like my privacy, especially while on a romantic vacation. We also stayed in the Royal Jr suite, which was wonderful, really the same as the junior suite, minus a few things, same square feet. When we go back in June for our wedding, we are staying in the Royal corner suite, I believe its a 100 sq feet bigger then the royal jr, but the room is kind of sectioned off, which i like because all the girls will be getting ready in my room. There is also the wrap around balcony which is basically why we picked the room, and there is a window by the jacuzzi really the only differences. Im pretty much at my highest level of frustration with the WC's in Michigan, im considering backing out of the royal.

  14. loves snow days!! its so pretty in the city when it first falls. Going to see the tree tomorrow night, fingers crossed it's still snowing tomorrow!
  15. Spoke w/ Kimberly again today, and I had her reconfirm the price for me for dj ivan for 3 hours. I am paying $850usd for his djing service and a dance floor, not the light up dance floor, she said that is listed at $700 on the new pricing sheet. Obvs' we are not going to go with the light up dance floor, when we can use that $ for something better. Kimberly also sent me over the new pricing sheet if anyone wants it. About the "room upgrade" what I heard from a bride at the royal who got married while we were there for our "inspection" and what I was also told on the hush hush by an employee..... the couple wet met that had just been married said they had booked the jr suite, and when they got there they were upgraded to the royal jr suite, which I believe is your only shot of a free upgrade. When we checked in, we upgraded to the royal jr suite for an extra $40pp per night and I asked Mr employee, how the wedding upgrades worked and he pretty much confirmed the upgrade is really only from the jr suite to royal jr suite, anything else will be at a half price rate per night per person. Were booked for a corner suite for our wedding and we know not to even think were getting a free upgrade because the next room level is the swim up which defers in a $400 a night stay. Hope that helps
  16. Hi loves, Bows $3 each I have the pricing sheet for the cakes, somewhere with costs and flavors and some photos, we are having a 3 tier cake made and I believe it was like $250usd for a 35 person cake, we dont know our final though. The tres leche cake, is amazing! we've stayed there 2x now and when you check in they ask what reason you are here for, like honeymoon, anniv', etc, so both time's we've had a mini tres leche cake brought to our room. Table deminisions I didnt even think to ask, but they fit 8-10 people, but the lady we did our site inspection with said they recommend 7-8 at a table. The light up dance floor is not included in the package, because it doesnt even come through them, its just with dj ivans package. I just got back from our site inspection, so if you have any other questions. oh and for food tasting, the salads I dont remember all the names off hand, but I believe we did the carribean shrimp salad, really good, the sauce was very tangy, we tried the avacoda stuffed with crap pulp, I loved him my fiance wasnt too thrilled and then the last salad was off the vegetarian menu and i believe it was just a regular house like salad with zucchini. entrees, we tried the salmon(dont remember exact one of hand) it was delicious! the pasta with dried sauce, again delicious and the beef tournade fillet, which again was good. were going with all 3 and I just have to keep track of the menus per table basically. For dessert we had the baked pear, it was good but not my cup of tea, the cheesecake, was good, but whats the point if youre having wedding cakes, and the other one again I dont remember but its what we picked, it was 2 cone like shaped things stuffed with cholocate mousse, and it was yummy! the chocolate even had little silver stars.

When looking at the real resorts wedding site, only allows you to book one gazebo called oceanfront gazebo. Also, we are planning a May 2011 wedding, what time would you recommend the ceremony for as I dont want the sun to have set. Thanks again for all your help There are two gazebos, the site is pretty screwed up and I believe most of the pictures on there are from the royal in PDC. Your guest, if you choose to the gazebo on the gran side, can walk right there, from the front of hotel or the back by the pool, I would say it is technically on the Gran side, because you need to walk through a gate to get there and you need you room key to open the gate, granted I would assume during a wedding they would leave it open. From what I remember in May, I believe the sun started to set 5 30/6ish but you can actually search that on the internet, dont go by my word as I was pretty tipsy everyday out by the pool, I do know for sure the sun sets earlier on the right hand side of the hotel(looking towards ocean). Our ceremony is 4pm and thats for a June wedding, we wanted to cocktail hour/reception more with the sunset
  18. OMG! anthropolgie is the worst!! I cant tell you how many orders ive recieved 2 weeks past the arrival date, with wrong items in there. Last year right around this time I placed an order and never even recieved it! It was christmas presents for like 5 of my friends, I was heated, I called customer service and flipped out, and that got me absoluletly no where, because they tried telling me they couldnt even find the order and even when I said ok hang on Ill give you my order number they still had no record of it. It wasnt until 7 phone calls later and speaking with a general manager that I was finally refunded, and they had the nerve to ask if I still wanted the items. I told them to f off! good luck
  19. everything looks great! would you mind sharing what websites you found those baithing suits? pref' the black one, thanks so much
  20. I am almost 98% sure, in order to do that, you would need to reserve a block of rooms, but guests would have to book the hotel stay through the hotel and thats way more pricey then doing a package deal from a TA or expedia

I think I am leaning towards having my reception on the terrace as well. I really wanted a beach reception at first, but the whole sand on my feet all night thing is starting to worry me. Not a fan of sandy feet, lol. I was concerned about that green "turf" on the terrace as well. But the reception would be starting around sunset, so hopefully the green stuff will go unnoticed because of the beautiful sunset. So exciting! I'm somewhat worried about the temperature too because my date is 8/14, so I'm stressing that it's still going to be super hot/humid in the evening. If anyone has other questions they would like me to ask while I'm there just let me know. Happy planning! I hear you on the beach issue, I really wanted it on the beach, but I dont want my father being uncomfortable. The way my fiance and I looked at the beach situation, is everyones coming out to mexico for a DW, it should be on the beach, but with our situation we had to forfeit that idea. I can tell you this though, cancuns sand isnt that grainy/rough its a nice soft texture and I have to say when we were there last year, we spent almost every night walking on the beach and I rarely had to do much cleaning off of sand, the only downside of having the beach reception for the royal in Cancun, I would have to say would be the size of the beach, if youre expecting a large party you may have issues, the beach was closed when we were there 2 weeks ago, there was no beach, govt ordered for it to be reconstructed, so when you go you should have plenty of beach, but in May last year again the beach was small & from what I understand that happens every year regardless of hurricanes hitting. The beach just washes away, and there constantly replacing sand. Theres also a 2nd terrace, that completely faces the ocean, with no green felt. Only downside to this, is there are rooms w/ balconies so you may have some on lookers, I personally liked that space better.
  22. The Me in Cancun, is gorgeous, very trendy. just a few things to keep in mind, it isnt all inclusive, and you should really check out some reviews on tripadvisor.com because its pretty much a swingers hotel.

Thanks Well the Gazebo on the royal side, can be somewhat "private" depending at what time of day, last year in May we stayed at the Royal and the sun sets pretty early on that side, around 4pm theres no sun hitting that spot, so most pool people will have moved to the other side of the pool, the activity side. But the Gazebo on the Gran Caribe side, is really private, on lookers can still see, but you wont find anyone wondering over there, its kind of sectioned off.
