  1. I'm working with Valeria now to select the decorations for the ceremony. One of my friends is getting married at a different resort and is bringing her own sheers, bows, etc and the resort is setting them up for free. I know that won't happen from everything I've read previously. Has anyone brought their own sheers for the gazebo and bows for the chairs? I was thinking that it would be a lot less expensive to buy the material beforehand and then have them set everything up. Although, part of me just wants to have them do everything so it's one less thing I have to worry about. I wouldn't even know how much to buy, and I doubt Valeria would give out the measurements. Thoughts?
  2. Welcome!!! :-) I would love to see your pictures!

We are bringing our own flowers (real touch) for our bouquets! If you guys have any questions, I might be able to answer some of them as I have been working with Valeria for quite a while now!! AllisonMPLS - I will see you there! We are leaving on the 12th! Fantastic! :0) I can't believe it's only 3 months away! Less than that for you, Dimplz05!

I didn't even think about negotiating things for the wedding. Flowers, runner, etc. Has that worked? Do you talk to Lomas Travel (I am also dealing with Valeria), or the coordinator when I get to the resort. We weren't going to do a private reception there b/c we are having a party when we get back as well. I guess I am looking for advice, ideas, experiences, etc. This website is great and I really should look at it more! We'll be there on the 11th, and getting married on the 15th! Maybe we'll see you there! I just finally picked the menu for the free wedding dinner, and am working on sending Valeria info about what I want the flowers to look like. I haven't gotten to the decorations yet, but I know there is a TON of great info on here on how to save some money along the way! I don't think we're going to do anything private, as that really would cost a lot. I think we may do a champagne toast after our ceremony, and let the parents and MOH/BM do speeches at that point. We'll see... It's starting to come up quickly, so I guess I'd better get moving! Allison
  9. Thanks for sharing! These are fantastic and will add that special touch without a lot of work!
  10. Your pictures are amazing! They make me even more excited for my wedding at EDR in May!!!! :-)
  11. We're planning to marry before we go as well. The requirements were just too much to do it there. We were both married previously, and apparently you need to get your divorce decrees and birth certificates translated into spanish/certified which from what I understand, is pretty pricey. I haven't figured out how and where we'll do it beforehand, so I'd better get moving!
  12. We booked Sascha for our May 15th wedding at EDR. So excited! His work is awesome.
  13. We're also planning to do a quick legal ceremony here in Minneapolis before we head down to Mexico. We'll count the date in Mexico as our "Real" wedding date. And we aren't going to tell many people that we did the legal one here. We did the math, and because you have to be in Mexico three full business days before the wedding, it would cost us over $1000 to do the legal ceremony there. It's WAY cheaper to do it beforehand (if you can find someone to do it for you - we might have a friend register on one of those websites where you can become an ordained minister. I think it would be really fun.)

I also liked the Fuentes gazebo which is the newer one...that one has a lot of greenery (overlooking the ocean)...it's also very nice. I definitely think the casita is worth it. The rooms are a lot more spacious than the junior suite. The only thing for me was that I didn't spend enough time there to really enjoy the privacy of the casita area. Plus, I think it's almost the same price if you book the casita with the free wedding package or if you book a different room + wedding package. So, I think you might as well get a bigger, nicer room. Let me know if you have other questions! Good Luck! Valeria is so sweet to work with. We booked the casita and gazebo 55! So excited!! :-)
