april2010dr.. which resort are you getting married at? i don't think you can go wrong in PC! you can use this site to figure out your next step.. there are so many fun details and little things you can plan and the best thing about a DW is you can do as little or as much as you want! the point is to be as stress free as possible, right?! chicken, that sounds delicious! and the boat sounds like the perfect venue for a reception! definitely unique and i'm sure your guests will love it.

i think price and how your booking is made is completely based on where you are coming from. for my guests, it was cheaper to book air and hotel at once since there is a charter airline (USA 3000) that goes from cincinnati to punta cana directly as opposed to using a group rate at the hotel and booking separately. there are some tour operators that do group discounts though... have you thought of using one of the TAs on this site? they each have specialties and i have heard nothing but good things about them!

chicken.. i think i missed a page before, but i just saw that you're having your reception on the la barcaza cruise. i am SO jealous. that will be absolutely beautiful! do you already know what your menu will be? will you be able to do everything that you normally have at a reception on the boat? (dancing, music, toasts, etc.?)

wow.. this is what i get for going away for a long weekend.. welcome to all the new april brides!! you guys may have moved way past this already, but i know someone mentioned whether it was a good idea to buy attire now or try and wait till next spring. i panicked about this and decided, better safe than sorry, so all of the GM and my FI have their outfits now. there are some AMAZING deals out there right now and i didn't want to push it. i think by march the summer-weather clothes should be out though. just consider me paranoid! also, i can't remember if i told you girls this or not, but i FINALLY found artificial stargazer lilies! they were on a site that i had been watching for a while since it kept saying they were sold out. one day i checked and they had a whole bunch so i bought a ton of them! they should get delivered on wednesday so i'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will be the right shade of pink and good quality!

he said yes to being a groomsman and he can't come to the ceremony? that seems silly to me! if your FI feels uncomfortable asking someone else, maybe have him talk to his friend and see if he wouldn't mind if your FI had someone else stand up there with him at the ceremony? i think the response you came up with would have made much more sense though!

caribbeanlover.. it took my FI FOREVER to pick his GM! he had a best man already, but he was trying to decide whether or not to include his other BIL, even though he's not real close with him. the only reason he was going to include him was so that we would be even (i have a MOH and 2 BM), but i told him if it was only for the sake of symmetry, don't do it. i think he'll be much happier with just his 2 best friends up there with him! robinkar, i love the candle idea.. those sound really cute! are they online so we can see them? diane, i love that you have a "young" group and an "old" group! i'm sure you'll have fun regardless, and maybe you can get some of the older folks to party with you guys too! that caribbean mentality is contagious! welcome happygolucky.. definitely sounds like you've got things in order! if i tried to follow a list and stay "on pace" i think i would drive myself crazy! isn't kleinfelds that place where they film "say yes to the dress"?

miss di, welcome!! i forget the exact #, but i think there are at least 3 or 4 of you now getting married on the 24th! how cool! cruisebride, i think you'll find everyone has had a different experience getting guests to book... it's definitely a lesson in patience and persistence! my folks are paying for the whole family to go, so all most of my guests have to do is call our TA and give her their names, and some people are still procrastinating on THAT! and when in doubt, the ladies on here have come up with some great ways to encourage their guests to get their butts in gear!

cogswellgray... a lot of brides make simple postcard STDs on Vistaprint (if you sign up for emails, you will get offers for free ones!) with an image of a beach, the DR, your resort or whatever you want to include!

wow! so many new dreams pc brides.. i love it!! nsbride, i agree with what everyone has said before, especially booking your date before you book your trip, that way you can be sure that you won't have to mess with the wedding at all. i'm assuming you submitted the date request form on the dreams website... for this, my other suggestion is to email all 3 WC's personally if you go about 7-10 days without hearing from them. thanks to the advice of a woman on the dreams forums (on the resort's site) i did this and the WC who emailed me back said they sometimes have issues getting the responses through this system, so it's good if you follow up with them personally. if you search through this thread you should be able to find their email addresses, or i can post them again if you need them. ach.. if i remember right, you got married at the gazebo, but do you happen to know if brides are allowed to use silk flower petals if we get married on the beach? i know there are some resorts that require you to have freeze-dried or biodegradable ones (which makes sense), but i wanted to make sure before i bought these for my flower girl. thanks for your help!

those pictures are beautiful! nathaniel did an amazing job... and how awesome of him to do the shoot on father's day! you and DH have to be so thrilled with how they turned out! you both look so happy in every picture!

to make a very very long story short, my FI has a 6 year old daughter and once her mother found out where and when our wedding was, she decided she was not allowed to go. because of this, we are having her come to the legal ceremony and making it super special for her (FSIL will be the only other adult there since she offered to be our witness and take pictures). before this happened though, we were planning on her coming down with us and then leaving with FI's parents. there are requirements for kids travelling out of the country without their parents though, so if you decide to have them fly either in or out without your FI, make sure you check that out! at the resort another one of my FSIL's also offered to have my future stepdaughter stay with her and her family, so something like that could be an option too if you want some time or a whole night alone. good luck to you with this!! it was definitely our most stressful wedding planning situation so i hope it works out well for you!

how completely random that the 3 of you are all back-to-back! this site makes it seem like such a small world! kimmy.. where did you guys get your bands from? i have been trying to work with a jeweler north of the city (where my parents live/i grew up) and the guy was supposed to help me with a custom band since my e-ring is an unusual shape, but i haven't heard anything from him yet! michele, good luck on your interview! let us know how it goes! and trust me, even if you're working, you can still get plenty of BDW time in ...or maybe that's just me! (just saw your ticker...8 months for you today!) am i a slacker for not doing placecards or anything like that? we'll only have 20 people and there will only be 1 table... i didn't really see the point in setting all that up when people can really just sit wherever they want! we did have a major find this weekend though.. we finally got FI's tan fedora! it was one of his few requirements.. that he gets to wear a hat. honestly this was probably the hardest thing we've had to do so far so i'm glad to have it off my plate! we also got both of the GM to order their outfits. one of them is in iraq right now too, so i was super impressed with how quickly he got that taken care of!! hope everyone had a great weekend!!

i found that i had a lot of offers like this when i went to a local bridal expo. photographers would come up to me, i'd tell them that i was having a DW and they'd freak. there are times if a photographer is trying to build up their portfoloio in a particular area (DW, boudoir, etc.) that they will offer discounted packages or special deals. like some of the other girls said above, it can't hurt to search around and ask! good luck with your search!

that is amazing!! what a treasure that must be! we have another idea that we're doing as well and had originally decided not to bring whiteboards, but your guestbook definitely made me want to rethink that!!
