  1. welcome kim!!! you're so right about the stress.. i thought i decided on a DW to avoid the stress?? it's hard to get through the information overload sometimes! that's why we're all here though.. sanity checks and voices of reason!
  2. welcome katie!!! we are really getting jam-packed with 2010 brides.. i love it!
  3. tonya, i got my flowers from hobby lobby. they are real touch and are a really good quality. can't remember how much they were per stem though. i don't know how well silk flowers would work submerged since some of the poorer quality ones have colors that may bleed when the fabric gets wet. definitely a trial and error kind of thing!
  4. ashley, that's such a tough call. i agree that it's completely personal and you should do what makes YOU the happiest. of course that means if you won't be happy if your family isn't, then there are some other things to think about. also, if you go ahead and do it, be careful with your next steps. if you decide to chang your name before you leave for PC, make sure your passport and plane ticket are all under the same name, otherwise it causes big ole issues. let us know what you end up deciding. either way, you'll end up married to your FI, and that's the most important thing!
  5. i'm not sure if this is what you're looking for since the glass isn't frosted, but it's the closest i could find. Square Glass Vases 4" Aqua Ocean Blue $4.80 each

But I HAVE to stop surfing this forum and wanting everything!! making your own bags?! you are a DIY superstar.. i wouldn't even dare to try that! and i know what you mean about getting ideas from this site. it took me a long time to really sit down and think through everything i wanted to do and decide if it would make a difference or was worth the $$$. it definitely helps with your sanity though.. you will reach a point when you don't feel so overwhelmed.. i promise!
  7. amy, i know they can do a cigar roller, but i'm not sure how much it is. the last time i looked i saw that most cigar rollers charge by the number of cigars. it looks like some people have had a great experience, and others didn't get as much as they wanted out of it. definitely worth asking a WC though if it's something you're interested in!
  8. i am using orchids, so it's easy to do it with the stems of those. you can always try the plumerias... they may just not stay in the position that you want them to. i tried doing it without securing them somehow and it looked messy, and then the lady who is doing my flowers told me how to do it the right way and made up a practice centerpiece for me using that method. what they do with real flowers is take really thing wire and attach it to the flower to make the same base.. always a possibility with the plumerias too if you can't get it to work right.
  9. kim, i'm so sorry that you haven't had much luck with people booking yet! i will keep my fingers crossed as time gets closer than everyone gets their butts in gear and realize how important it is to you and your FI! also.. i just ordered my stuff to make my keycard/tip holders so if you need any decent priced ideas for that, let me know!!
  10. random advice, but i would say if you can do individual lashes... do them. i have seen way too many disasters when a full strip starts to pull away at the wrong time.. the individual ones look much more real i think!
  11. suzy, we're doing the same thing.. one bag per couple and then some things each person gets, and some things are one per bag (one towel and bubba keg per person, but one first aid kit and deck of cards per bag). keep your eye on the OOT section of the forum.. people post ideas all the time for easy, $1 or $2 ideas! did anyone else notice that there is a 2011 brides thread?!?! holy moly!! now that i think about it though, that is almost how far out i joined BDW.. just seems WAY longer! and suzy, i just realized.. you're super late in the month with me! i thought i was going to be the last one!! glad to know i have good company! also just realized i'm 1/2 way through the time between my engagement and the wedding!! this last part better go quick!!
  12. tara.. i think the dance floor is if you want a specific area to dance, but i have never heard of anyone paying extra for this. i mentioned earlier i think it would make sense to get this if you wanted to dance and had your reception on the beach. otherwise, i think whatever terrace your on would be fine! also tara, have you specifically been assigned sharron? i was told that closer to our dates we would get our individual WCs, but i haven't heard anything yet. you're only a few weeks ahead of me so i was curious if you had heard? my MOH is in beauty school right now (she already did a trial of my hair on a dummy in one of her classes) so she'll be doing my hair and makeup and the hair of my other two BMs. it's handy to have that built in! ash, i love that you offered to help out with autumn's wedding! that is awesome! so fun to know someone who is getting married around the same time at the same resort!
  13. tonya... your maggie is BEAUTIFUL!!! you can tell by the title of the thread that you love your dress so much. it looks great on you.. very flattering! i love all of the different lines of the skirt. simple, but it has gorgeous details.. you should be so pumped!!
  14. it's definitely easy to get carried away! some people have different methods of getting their stuff to their locations.. some ship (depending on the reliability and price of shipping to your resort), some bring it themselves and some pass out the bags beforehand and let their guests worry about it! if you have any questions at all, let us know.. that's what we're here for!! tonya.. on my way to check out your dress now!
  15. tam... glad you like the bouquet! it took me forever to find one like that that was just what i was looking for! the $300 charge for the judge is just the judge's fee.. i don't think there are any other charges from the resort for the legal ceremony. anyone think they included the huppah on the 2010 price list just because we've all been asking about them? tomorrow i'm getting all of that info from my friends who went there a few weeks ago. hopefully there will be some new things included! you all will be the first to know!
  16. michele, i completely forgot to say YYYYYYAAYYYYYYY for you!!! here's hoping for lots and lots of guests booking!! probably was such a pain for you to stuff and send them since you HAND ADDRESSED them all.. crazy lady!! meghan, those led lights are awesome!!! if i don't like the look with the candles i may have to check those out! that way i don't have to worry about a candle burning down or anything like that. thanks for sharing that!
  17. nat, one of the photographers i was looking at and got to know went there a few months ago and the reception she shot only had one table and it was one of those long ones where 2 people can sit at the end. she said they had 15 people total (including the photog) and they fit that table perfectly. i'm hoping to have one of those and one of the round tables for 10, so here's hoping!!! ash, i originally found the picture on google somewhere and then stalked her site to find the rest of the album! the stargazer is my theme/inspiration for my whole wedding and i didn't want anything in my bouquet but those (no filler or anything). once i saw these i knew it was exactly what i wanted:
  18. oh no.. it's not THAT difficult.. you just have to secure the flowers on the bottom some how.. i made the mistake of thinking you could just dunk them in the water and it looked weird! here is what my flower lady said to do... just takes a few more steps, but shouldn't matter too much.. no extra things to buy or anything. "For a silk flower, you'd leave the stem long because it's wired. You'd have to leave a few inches of the stem straight (coming down out of the flower) then bend the wire and make a circle with the remaining stem. This circle would sit flat on the bottom of your vase before adding pebbles to anchor it." is that clear as mud?
  19. ashley.. i got my bouquet inspiration from pictures by your photographer! she does amazing work, i'm sure you'll be very happy!! tara.. i was a very easy dress-buyer... didn't take me long at all.. about 2 hours of trying on dresses. it's definitely different for everyone though. i have my first fitting 2 weeks from tomorrow and i can't wait!! toya, you are AMAZING! it looks like they have just a flat $350 price for the huppah, but nice of them to include that on the list now. it seems like there are a lot more things on there than i originally thought they had available! $1010 for fireworks.. YOWZA!! misty.. welcome!! you should be able to find all the information you need here! DPC actually has 3 WCs so working with any one of them will be fine i'm sure! you will get assigned one specifically closer to your date that you will work with from then on out. if there is anything else you need after you get toya's emails, let us know and we'll help you out! also, the bordeoux terrace is probably the most popular reception site.. the 3 main ones are outdoors and i've never heard of anyone renting a dance floor separately. i'm thinking this is used mostly by people who do a reception on the beach?
  20. tracy, the vases are pretty heavy, but i'm only bringing 4 and spreading them among my guests so we won't have to worry about the weight too much. if anyone finds acryllic ones, let me know.. i think that would be wayyyy easier!!
  21. flasong.. i got stargazer lilies from there and they are incredible. i'm also doing submerged flower centerpieces, but beware when you try to put them together. i realized right away that they're not nearly as easy as they look! i'm having my flower lady put together a picture tutorial that shows how to put them together!

  23. tara, i ordered the towels from Beach Towels wholesale manufacturer of custom embroidered monogrammed bath towel for corporate events and i got the bags from the lady that did my embroidery. she had a whole catalogue and i just picked the perfect one out of there. i need to call her and see if there's a website that has all of the stuff on it. i think if you want embroidered stuff you may get a cheaper rate going through someone who has a business though... i got a discount for getting so many and it would have been more expensive than ordering straight from the catalogue. nat, i don't see why you couldn't just do the dinner and then go party. it's not like they can force you to stay there or anything! you don't have to do toasts or music or anything like that. from what i can tell everything can be as simple or as complex as you want it to. toya, i asked my flower lady to do a little centerpiece demo for me so that i could post for everyone. it seems to be a popular style and we're all so into DIY that it may help some brides out!
  24. you did an AMAZING job! definitely the most comprehensive packing list i've found so far! i don't want to leave anything out for my guests and this is a HUGE help!
  25. that's exactly what i did and you DEFINITELY don't want to see what came of that!
