  1. this will officially be the weirdest thing i'll ever post on BDW... make a concious effort to squeeze your buns when you push up when you're doing squats. if you're doing lunges, when you push up, keep your weight in your heel on the foot that is out in front and that will help target your glutes. you can also channel the "call on me" video where you lay on your back with your knees bent and lift your hips and squeeze. i love exercises i can do while also watching tv!
  2. problem solved... toya and jocy they should be on their way shortly!
  3. scratch that... it looks like they are still too big... give me a second to see if i can fix this!

Here is my update... like everyone has said.. april is quite wonderful!! and can i just say that i LOVE your monogram in your siggy? if i were getting married in vegas, that's what i would want mine to look like!! good luck with your goals.. sounds like you are well on your way already!! i am super impressed by all of the april 2010 ladies! are we the first month to start our own WL/working out thread? we've got to be! we'll be the most fit, best looking bunch of brides yet!!
  6. autumn, your site looks great so far!! we used the same template for ours... thank goodness for the knot and making these websites easy! are you from toledo? i recognized the 419 area code! soooo... i have the dreams "welcome kit" and the spa menu available to email to whoever needs it. the welcome kit is the pamphlet you get when you check in and it has some great information in it. the files are way too big to attach on here unfortunately since it's a lot of scanned things. i also have scanned in the entire AmTour excursion information packet, but the smallest i could get it was 68 MB which won't even send from my email! if anyone has an idea of how to get that smaller, let me know because it has a lot of good info in it too!
  7. meghan, that is an AWESOME deal!! gotta love when you get to check things off the list!! for my chair sashes, i ordered them from a lady on ebay... she has specific quantities on her site, but if you email her, she will pretty much sell you however many you want and they are a great price... eBay Store - ELEGANT PERSPECTIVES: Satin Sashes, Chair Covers FI actually ordered his band ON HIS OWN last night! talk about a victory! he works all the time and we hadn't been able to have his finger sized, but when we were at walmart yesterday he randomly decided he'd go up to their jewelry counter to see if they had those sizer things. they did so he got his size and as soon as we got home he was online ordering!
  8. sorry you were all alone this weekend tam!! i scanned the excursion book, dreams welcome kit and spa lists last night.. unfortunately i had to do each page individually so i'm going to try to put all of the scanned images into a word document. we'll see how long this takes! i'll have it up some time in the next day though, i promise!
  9. oh man.. if booking with our TA required anything computer-related, my FMIL and FFIL would have had some serious problems! they have a computer and they can play games on it, but as soon as you mention the internet or ordering anything online they freak out!! good luck with your mom michele, i'm sure she'll come around.. even if it takes some nudging! natasha, it looks like you are well on your way! that is awesome!! we have a few BM and GM who are trying to lose weight too so they are taking longer ordering their dresses/outfits. as for the OOT bags, i'm doing mine for the same reason that tracy is, but i know there are a lot of girls who just do a favor instead. if there is something that you're worried your guests may forget to pack, maybe give them a recommended packing list to make sure that's covered? it's definitely not uncommon and if you don't want the hassle, don't do it!!
  10. nat, i am SO glad that you got to reserve your reception location early! i will for sure be doing the same thing! adrian'smommy.. do you remember when you were specifically assigned sharron? i'm so paranoid that i haven't gotten my specific WC yet! i have so many questions i want to ask them about things i'm doing!
  11. i know some of you have posted there.. but all of the April 2010 brides, come and check in on our thread... http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...-brides-43673/ also, mich&adam.. you're the 2nd person i've found getting married on the 28th! i wish i could say we're down to 6 months, but we barely just passed 7! i'm always jealous of the early april brides' tickers!

Can you shed some light on this? if your cake gets wet or damp, you've probably got much bigger issues! honestly though, i have never heard of this happening. if your cake is going to be in an environment where it might "sweat" (and in this case you really only want to use fondant.. buttercream will break down in humidity) just make sure that the petals on the flowers aren't directly touching your cake. OR if you're really worried about it, avoid the problem completely by purchasing the flowers yourself and making sure they are a decent enough quality that the colors won't run.
  13. vs is amazing! we have a few stores by us, but none of them have a huge selection of their clothes. their sizes are pretty true so my BM who got it just ordered it online. their returns are really really simple too. you should be able to find tons of options on there!
  14. those invites are GORGEOUS!!! and yes.. BDW and vistaprint are amazing! i even just made my first business cards on vistaprint the other day.. those free deals are amazing. you make a great point about the flowers too... everyone has their thing that's worth paying the money to not worry about! for some it's flowers, others it's decorations, DJ, photog, etc. it's really interesting to see all the different points of view, and we can get great ideas off of each other that way too! i competely forgot i have great news to share too.. FINALLY FINALLY one of my BM ordered her dress! i sent a friendly email out this past weekend with tons of links to dresses (they are picking their own black dress) that i thought would look good. my favorite was a gorgeous convertible dress form victoria's secret since you can wear it a ton of ways for all body types, it's very affordable and it looks super comfortable. Victoria's Secret - NEW! Ruched Convertible Dress
  15. here's a link to an album that the completely amazing baltobabe put together (and where those pictures come from)... there seem to be a few more pictures of the hitmitsu terrace and then other wedding details as well: What goes into making a Dreamy Wedding pictures, photos, and videos, from friends & fun on webshots the pictures are a little dated.. i think it was still Sunscape The Beach at this point, but you get a general idea. el patio is my 1st choice.. i'm not sure if it has an ocean view, but i know there is a little river/pool that runs right along side it. as far as the ocean view goes.. it's going to get dark during your reception anyway, so if i can't get it, i'm not too worried!
  16. jocy, it has a lot of great information.. i think it's helpful in case you guests want to know how much money they can expect to spend at the resort on top of the all-inclusive things! here are the pictures of the reception sites that misty has been so amazingly sending out! since the forum seems to be working okay today, i figured i'd try my luck at posting them since it would be easier for her and for future brides to see them if they were here: bordeaux (up to 40 people): el patio (up to 50 people): himitsu (up to 80 people):
  17. thanks Tam!! i'm wearing sandals for the whole thing since i'm getting married on the beach. i heard that the sand can get pretty hot so i didn't want to risk dancing back and forth because my feet are burning!
  18. welcome meidell!!! i think you hit the nail on the head of why the dw is so great.. you DO get a vacation while also getting to enjoy your wedding.. best of both worlds! Part of the reason I choose the destination wedding was the beautiful real tropical flowers! i'm assuming they're cheaper in Mexico, is that not the case? 2. How are you making OOT bags with out knowing how many people are coming? I figured I'd start in Feb/March after the RSVP's are due. is that too late? what's the delivery time for most of you items? 3. did anyone send out a reminder email to their guests make sure they have up-to-date passports? i want to do that soon and am looking for wording... Thanks so much! Sarah sarah - don't worry about not doing anything... i think we all will or already have taken a break from planning stuff. it gets to a point where it just slows down or you can't do anything yet. nothing wrong with that! embrace the down time! to answer your questions.. 1) i agree with meghan.. a lot of the appeal is cost. i also really wanted to be able to keep my flowers afterwards and have control over what they were going to look like. i couldn't be 100% certain that the resort would have just what i wanted so that's why i'm opting to do it this way! 2) we have a small group, so i already know roughly how many people are coming. i always hedge my bets and get a few extra. when in doubt you can sell the extras on here to another bride! 3) i put it in my invitations and have also been hounding people. if you have a big group, a reminder email is a great idea.
  19. HDC is hands down the best photographer i saw from PC. you ladies will be so happy! are you doing videos? i'm bringing my photog from the states (she actually from MN) but i thought about getting video done by one of the photogs down there. also, about the cruise thing.. i know there's la barcaza, but there is also a really cool "cruise-like" excursion to sanoa island and some other swimming spots. it is in the excursion information packet that i still need to scan and post on here! it has lots of information about tons of different off-resort trips. in the packet of information i got i also have the most up-to-date spa price list as well. i finally figured out my scanner so i'll get all that stuff in as soon as i get home this weekend! also, misty, would you mind sending me those pictures, [email protected]?? thanks!!
  20. this may not apply to everyone since a lot of us get cakes from our resorts that are included in packages, but if you are getting a cake for your AHR, or ordering from a bakery for your DW, please read this... i am a cake decorator as well as a bride-to-be. from both sides i understand being on a budget and how awesome DIY can be. unfortunately, i came across these two articles today that bothered me: More Cheap Wedding Cake Ideas! Save hundreds on your dream wedding cake! Cheap Wedding Cakes: Have Your Cake and Eat it too! don't get me wrong... there are some excellent ideas in there if you want a great cake, but want to keep it within budget. cake dummies (styrofoam tiers), serving the top tier and simple designs are some of the best things you can do to keep the price down without compromising style. heck, if you don't think you will be too stressed before the wedding, you can even DIY your cake (just make sure if it's tiered, you research support structures and transportation!). however, when the articles start going into details about lying to bakeries to stay within budget, i couldn't believe it! i don't know a single baker who charges different per serving based on whether it's a wedding cake or a fancy, tiered party cake. also it makes cakes sound like they are just "flour, eggs and sugar", like any old joe could make a good looking cake. hopefully you all have seen enough of those cake shows to know that even the professionals can't get it right all the time either.. it's hard and takes lots of practice and time! also, be warned about the real vs. sugar flowers, i agree that sugar flowers are more expensive, but as some of you probably know, there are real flowers that are toxic to people (hydrangeas, etc.). putting them on a cake opens you up to a guest possibly getting sick... try silk flowers instead! we all know real touch flowers can be just as beautiful! sorry for such a long post, but you ladies are so creative and smart and i wanted to make sure people weren't faling prey to the deceptive ideas of the "big, greedy, price-gouging cake decorators"! okay, i'll get off my soapbox now... i need to go eat some cake now, i have a huge craving for some reason!
  21. poohshek is right... make sure you clarify what a serving size is. for a wedding cake, a serving should be a 1'' x 2'' x 4'' slice (assuming your cake is 2 layers) which is usually plenty especially if you have alcohol at your reception.. it makes people eat less cake, trust me. as a cake decorator myself, i know that if you can dream it and the bakery you're going to is good enough, they can execute it. tell them what you want and see what they can do! it can't hurt to ask. plus, it looks like those cassata cakes can be made beautifully and you can always have cupcakes or another small, regular cake to go along with it!
  22. i LOVE the style of these!! she does awesome work! and i don't know why, but i haven't ever seen anyone call it a "STW" when usually that's what our STDs are! very cute and appropriate!

I wonder if they have real-touch, bc when I look all I see are silk flowers... i agree that they are just as stressful, but i think the day of the wedding is more relaxing for a DW. i have heard SO many people say that they don't remember a thing about their wedding day since it was so busy and stressful. since most of us have WCs to take care of the stuff that day, and you're in a beautiful place and not at home with other concerns, hopefully our wedding days will make up for the stress beforehand! and yes, hobby lobby is like micheals.. i've never seen real touch flowers at michaels, but i haven't made an effort to look for them either. you can always ask someone there. anything other than silk would work fine!
  24. i am so bummed that you haven't heard anything from her! we have a huge list of people waiting for that starfish! meli... it looks like ajandnate above has a silver starfish that's being passed along. you can always try to get in on that one!
  25. congratulations on your date pynklemonade!! isn't the feeilng of a DW a bit liberating? i have gotten funny looks from people who realize our wedding date is a wednesday, but when you're in paradise.. none of that stuff matters!
