When we first moved in together I would hide some of my shows from FI... these would include: Big Love Army Wives Bridezillas ANTM Project Runway I can officially say that we now tivo these and I get in trouble if I delete them before letting FI watch them. I have the boy hooked! No hiding it any more!

this is something i struggle DAILY with and figured you all are probably the best possible resource to get advice and hear about how you all have handled this situation! my FI is almost 28 and has a 5 year old daughter with a woman who very well may be the spawn of satan. she is manipulative and pretentious, thinks she is better than us and talks to my FI like he is a child. a joy to be around, basically. i love his daughter most of the time, but i can't help feeling resentful sometimes that our relationship has never and will never be just us. she can be a huge brat sometimes and i have to fight back these feelings when it happens. also, i am incredibly jealous that this horrible woman gave the love of my life his first child. i wish she knew how lucky she is to have such a wonderful man as the father of her child and i wish she wouldn't take him for granted like she does. i am just thankful they never got married!!!! basically what i want to know is for those of you who have dealt with similar situations, did you ever have those kinds of feelings and how did you manage them? (by the way... can i just say that any woman who has dealt with any situation even remotely close to this.. you are incredible!!! it takes an incredibly selfless person to help raise another person's child... that is at least one lesson i have learned from all of this!)

jacqueline... i think i can help!! my FI is a tattoo artist (see my little picture there) and breakouts like that can happen when you don't let the skin breathe. i would DEFINITELY not use a&d on the tattoo as some people can have bad reactions to this and it may cause some scabbing. get a good brand of UNSCENTED aloe-free skin lotion (we use regular lubriderm.. and if you use scented lotion it feels like your skin is on fire.. trust me!!) and only put a light coat so your pores don't get clogged up. if your skin doesn't start to heal in a few days i'd definitely get it checked out, but i've seen (and had) similar reactions myself just caused by the lotion! and my two cents on the tipping... do it!! i think someone made the point earlier, but unless you're getting one from the shop owner, there is big time profit share. my FI's is 60/40, so they really don't walk away with much at the end of the day. there isn't a set amount.. whatever you're comfortable with, but know that it is GREATLY appreciated. of course you don't have to if you don't want to, but your artist will love you for it!

I know I am about 2 months behind reading this post, but I decided to do a search for Cincinnati and I'm SOOOO glad I found someone else from around here! I live in Ross, but grew up in West Chester... I was beginning to think I was the only Cincinnati person on here! Have you found any good vendors in the area? Hope your planning is going well so far!!

hi sarah! i finally did hear back from a WC! i actually filled out the form online and then emailed one of the WCs directly and she said the form doesn't always come through. if you haven't emailed them directly i definitely recommend doing that just to make sure! also, have you checked out the forums on the dreams resort website? there is a TON of information specific to the resorts there and always someone there to answer questions!

i would definitely say dreams too... of course that IS where i'm getting married, so i think shannon was right! if it is just you guys and you don't need to worry about guests with a rehearsal dinner or reception or anything like that, the biggest thing you'll have to worry about is probably just the paperwork translation and all of that legal mumbo jumbo. besides that, i really don't think you can go wrong in PC! good luck and keep us posted on your planning!! ps: eden&kevin... we're getting married just 5 days after you in PC! not the same resort, but still the closest date i've seen to ours so far! april 2010 can't come soon enough!!

Yay!!! I am so glad there are other April/May 2010 brides out there! Got a confirmation with the resort today for our date (April 28th!!!)... just have to wait for the judge to confirm to make it 100% official. At least we all don't have to try and be patient for our big days alone! Also, I am definitely with kittenheart... we had no idea where we wanted to go until we spoke with our TA and she made our choice very easy based on what we wanted and what our guests would enjoy!

Hi everyone! I JUST got engaged on Valentine's Day and am already trying to get in the swing of things planning our wedding. My fiance and I have talked for a while about going away somewhere to get married and we decided on Punta Cana after hearing rave reviews from a lot of people. We are looking at the Dreams resort in Punta Cana at the end of April (hopefully the 28th) but I am still trying to get in touch with a WC there to confirm our date. Has anyone else looked into getting married there? Any newbies already talked to a WC? Just trying to get a feel for how long it takes to get all the initial stuff set up! Take care everyone!!
