  1. I too have booked Paulina and she is willing to split her time - welcome dinner the the wedding. I'm very excited about her work!!!
  2. I usually email my resort and then follow up with a phone call early in the morning or towards the end of the day. Good luck and hang in there. I know its frustrating!
  3. Most of the hotels have firework shows on the beach and as well as a big party. If you have a medium size group you may want to think about going to one of those restaurants in the hills (one with amazing views) and make your own party.
  4. Some of my guests who aren't staying at Casa Velas Hotel will also be staying at Velas Vallarta. I was able to get deals for both hotels (owned by the same company). Velas should be perfect for my guests who prefer the bigger family style resorts. Also, the Casa Magna Marriott is near by as well.
  5. Ok, thanks for letting me know. I was shocked to read that, especially in this economy! We are only having a maid of honor and a best man but to have to pay for flights (both are married) and hotel would be a little crazy.
  6. I just read in Destination Weddings magazine that its good etiquette to pay for the travel arrangements for people in your wedding party. IS THIS TRUE We weren't planning on doing this. Thoughts
  7. Thank you for the detailed review! I too was thinking about getting married in Jamaica, I ended up choosing Mexico in the end do to travel costs for my guests. It sounds like your wedding was amazing!!!!!!! The pictures look great!
  8. In case anyone is looking for inexpensive gift bags for your guests check out this site, if you buy in bulk you can get a good deal. I'm so excited about this site, I cant believe other sites are charging what they are charging. Promotional Canvas bags, Eco-Friendly bags and tradeshow bags below wholesale prices Sorry if someone already posted this site, I got really excited and wanted to share. Even though my wedding is in April I already ordered!
  9. You may want to try negotiating the location fee, most resorts are willing to be flexible when it comes to that. I really like this resort, good choice!!
  10. Your hair and dress looked amazing! Can't wait to read all of the details and see more pictures. Beautiful!!!!
  11. Your review was so detailed - thank you! It reminded me that I need to stay calm during the planning process and during the event b/c little things will come up that might be hard to deal with but in the end it's not about the little things its about marrying the one you love. I think your pictures are great, so colorful - GREAT flowers and yes the tent looked AMAZING! Just curious, was it a high number of your guests who didnt show up b/c of the trip/costs? Or was the number expected? I'm a little worried about this for my own wedding with the economy being bad. Also, did you have any guests who said they were coming and didn't?
  12. I see that Joe Jack's Fish Shack has great reviews on tripadvisor.com! The photos look cute too!
  13. Hi There, I think you should look into Daiquiri Dicks, they were very responsive and willing to let me plan the welcome dinner menu and then they priced it out. So far they have been great to work with. I ate there about a year ago and really liked it. I also really liked Si Senor but I found them to be difficult to get in touch with. I left messages but no one called me back so we decided to go with Daiquiri Dicks. Let me know if you want DD's contact info, they respond to email very quickly.
  14. So cute!!!!!!! I love the photos. You two look great together.
  15. I hear that August is REALLY humid and yes there is a huge chance it will rain. If you can move you date I would try to push it to September. If you cant move your date just be sure to warn your guests about the humidity, make sure you have bug spray/wipes in the welcome bags. I know someone who planned an event in islands during rainy season, what she did was have her ceremony in and am, around 11:00 so that she and the bridal party wasn't dieing in the heat and she wasn't sweating in her dress. She then provided a nice breakfast, they took some picks and then spent the rest of the day hanging on the beach and then had a great party at night. She and her guests were able to dress more comfortably for the party and just focus on having a good time. That could be an option?
  16. Thanks for the Ztai recommendation! I think that place might be what we are looking for!
  17. Your wedding looks so awesome!!!! Really disappointing to hear that your wedding planners totally dropped the ball BUT the pictures show that your guests had a GREAT time and thats all that really matters.
  18. Try not to worry. People know that there have been some problems in Mexico, if some of your guests are really scared or uncomfortable they will talk to you about it. I had one friend's mom make a point to mention in front of me that there were "lots of cases of be-headings (sp?)" in Mexico. I had to correct her and let her know they most of these cases are near the border towns due to drug wars and yes there were one or two cases in Cancun BUT Cancun is NOT PV. The people who are comfortable with traveling will come. The people who generally don't travel anywhere outside of the US OR they go somewhere and stay on the resort the whole time probably will be scared. We have a few of those types in our group and I'm suspecting they wont come and thats ok-its probably for the best!
  19. Hi Jillian, I have been following this very closely and so far nothing has happened in PV. The incident your friends mom is talking about was in Alcapulco and it was a shoot out between drug dealers. I too have friends and family who have mentioned concerns about crime and this is why I posted a similar concern on this site a few months ago. Right now I'm totally confident that PV is safe. But if you feel the need to check the news, check out this site daily: Latin American Herald Tribune - Welcome and look at CNN.com in the World news section. I hope this helps.
