Hi Kate, Awww shucks! I wish I had known you hosted a dinner at Si Senor! I tried many many time to contact them to get pricing. No one ever responded or I would get someone on phone who didn't speak english and then he would hang up on me. Bummer. I really loved this place when I visited...so we were hoping to plan something there. We ended up having to choose another place, Daiquiri Dicks. I hope its as good/fun!

Ya, its very frustrating. I'm waiting for my resort to get back to me to tell what they plan to do about this problem. It's one thing to ask guests to pay $30 more but hundreds more?? Basically it looks like the travel sites are throwing in the flights for practically nothing, my guests are able to get a flight and hotel stay for the same price they would pay the resort for only the hotel stay. Thats insane. The hotels shouldn't allow these sites to offer such deep discounts.

Hi Aussie, I am having the same problem. I signed a contract with my hotel, I have a room commitment and one reception price for people staying at the hotel and one price for guests not staying at the hotel. Now Im finding that Expedia and Travelocity are listing flight and hotel packages that offer the room at a HUGE discount. VERY frustrating!!!!!! Obviously my guests are going to go after the cheaper price. I needed to reserve the room block b/c my wedding is scheduled for the spring (popular time) but Im basically having to set my budget up for worst case scenario -which is most people not taking a room from the room block. Grrrrrr

Can all the past PV brides weigh in on DJ selection, I'm really nervous about this. My wedding planners have people in mind but they told me that in PV the DJ's dont MC. Music is VERY important so I want to make sure we are making the right decision. Can anyone recommend a DJ they hired for their event?

I think its totally fine to have the welcome dinner in PV and ceremony/reception in NV, especially if you hire a charter bus to take everyone to PV. It would be a nice ride, you could even provide corona's for your guests to enjoy while they ride.

Yes, they will put together a package that includes rates for Velas Vallarta, Casa Velas and Grand Velas if you ask them to. Velas Vallarta is a little cheaper than Casa Velas but the good thing is that they will probably give you a deal that allows kids to stay free at Velas. This should totally help your guests who have kids. The funny thing is most of my guests have decided to leave their kids at home and have a fun romantic "grown up vacation". So far only two couples are bringing kids.

Yes Casa Velas will allow you to have children at the wedding ceremony event and reception BUT children can not stay at the hotel overnight or run around the hotel grounds. They can be there for the wedding events only. Let me know if you have other questions.

Your event sounds like it was a ton of fun! I really don't understand why Dreams refuses to upgrade the bride and the groom! Seriously, the couple getting married needs to have 1st priority!! Oh well, sounds like you had a fab event despite not getting the upgrade.
