  1. That's really great to know! I'm upstate, NY but I have to go down to my jeweler who has to tighten my ring, he's in the diamond district, but I can make my way down there for the good deals! Thanks!
  2. Jesmcam - I'm doing the luxury package because when I compared that and the Ultimate, the only difference was that the Ultimate allowed for 15 more people (cost of $450 if they're all Royal guests), a larger cake (cost of $150) and the coctail reception, which I'm unsure of the cost but I can't imagine that it would be $4400 for the coctail reception which would be the ending price difference between the luxury and the ultimate luxury - can I ask if there's something I'm missing? The cost between the two just doesn't seem comparable so we're doing the Luxury, adding 15 people and doing the bigger cake. We'll be spending $600 more than the luxury package, but still having to figure out the coctail thing which can't be as much as the the entire wedding. Any thoughts I'm so confused on all of this that I just may be missing out on something.
  3. I bought something just like these for my girls only in a teal color....they're adorable! SN242,20mm Lovely Starfish SWAROVSKI Pendant & Earrings - eBay (item 190324263544 end time Aug-25-09 04:30:39 PDT)
  4. I'm so beyond confused with the menu thing. Tutti I sent what I got but it was from last Feb. so I don't know if thins have changed. So I'm going to have about 50 people and I was comparing the Luxury and the Ultimate Luxury package and I found that they're both the same except that the Ultimate includes a coctail reception and also they do a large cake. Has anyone gotten a price on a welcome coctail reception?? We'd like to do something for everyone in lieu of a rehearsal dinner. Also, I know it's random, but are the centerpieces included or are they extra?? I'm really confused now with what is included and what's not.
  5. That's really interesting because I got a document that had several different menu choices. You guys didn't get that One was International, one was Buffet, etc....
  6. Man....I just bought my wedding band and I'm a 4.5! Oh well, I'm sure you'll be sure to sell it quickly, it's beautiful!
  7. Thanks guys!!! I'm glad you all love it!!! I LOVE it too... Yes, believe it or not, the dress was in his pile, and I gave it away because it was a size 20! When I saw it on another girl who's mom pulled it back tight, I knew I made a big mistake and HAD to have that dress. The girl was completely nasty when we started hovering to see if she was going to keep the dress and after some nasty looks and exchanges back and forth between us she finally relinquished the dress to ME! YAY! I have to say, the run in there was a bit nuts and I did hip check a chick next to me, but other than that, once everyone was in, it was fairly easy. Some girls were very nice offering up dresses and others were so nasty and wouldn't give anything up unless you had a trade. All in all we had such a great time and I'm so happy I saved so much money on my dress. I can only imagine what alterations are going to cost, but I'm sure in the end it will still be less than if I did it the traditional way! Now I won't feel so bad spending $100 on shoes, lol!!!!
  8. Ok so I went to the Running of the Brides in Manhasset, Long Island and got my dress!! It was a great price at $250 and was more than $1,000. Here's the pic on the model, I don't have my own pics yet, waiting for my sis to email me pics. There were dresses that were damaged and dirty, but mine was in excellent shape, didn't even look like it had been tried on yet!! I definitely recommend the Running of the Brides event if you can get to one, it truly was a blast with my girls and my fiance! He grabbed a ton of dresses, put them in a pile for me and then went and took a nap in the car - an hour later, I had my dress! The picture does it no justice, it has sequins and pearls all over the dress and sparkles like crazy! I am going to have a seamstress alter the bottom so it is more of a trumpet shape and not so much A-line, so I'll have to post it when that's done. What do you guys think?? 9. That's a great point that a certain part might be bigger, I remember when I was in high school (pre-breast reduction) I was a size 8 but my boobs were 38DD so I had to order a 16 just to cover the girls and then half the dress came off to fit my waist!
  10. I think I'd feel really funny going to a bridal salon and not making an appt to try dresses on and how could I really get measured without doing that? anyhow, I think I'll just wing it because it's not like I'll be able to pick the sizes I grab, so I'll try anything on I guess!
  11. Ok, so I'm going to a running of the brides event and it will be the first time trying on a dress so I don't know what size I should be trying on. I'm a usually a 10/12 in street clothes so I'm thinking I'll be a 14/16 in a wedding dress right??
  12. I've been searching for this exact dress myself!!! I did find this...it's not exact, exact, but it's pretty darn close. Gorgeous JIM HJLEM 8800 REPLICA Wedding Gown/dress'
  13. tutti - did you get an email with what options you have for centerpieces? I didn't get that - would you mind sending it to me
  14. Hi! I decorate cakes part time and have a local shop. I think that whomever you order from should give you a basic price for a cake and then anything that would be extra they could price out. For instance, when I price a cake, if it's a buttercream cake, I don't charge more because it happens to have buttercream swags, as opposed to just being plain. There should be some wiggle room on price, just make sure to tell them exactly what you want!!
  15. I was in Playa Del Carmen at The Royal last year on May 15th and it was super comfortable, not too hot and I didn't notice any humidity. Just my 2 cents
  16. Tracy, the people who are coming from The Gran do not have to pay for a day pass for the wedding, however from what I understand they are not allowed in the rooms when you are getting ready, especially children. Apparently people have complained about children in the rooms at The Royal. As for having dinner any other time than the reception, no they cannot do this at The Royal, however, if you're staying at The Royal, you can go to all of the restaurants and use the facilities of The Gran all you would like. If you have adults who would like to come to The Royal for dinner or to use the pool, they can purchase a day pass.
  17. Thanks Shannon, I just assumed that if they wouldn't accomodate that many people for a restaurant for a wedding, that they wouldn't do it for a welcome dinner either. I just sent an email to my wedding planner, so hopefully she'll give me some advice. Thanks!!
  18. Shannon, if you don't mind me asking did it cost $10 per person like I read earlier? Did that include everything for dinner and drinks? If so, that will work out perfect! We already have 41 people and it can get expensive if we have to spend another $40-$50 per person for a dinner.
  19. I just saw this post and I asked the same question in the other Royal thread. Loanmao - where did you get the information about having dinner at Maria's Restaurant? That would work out perfect if we could do that. We would have an 8:30 dinner, a little late, but not that big of a deal.
  20. I also forgot to respond to Alison, I've been to the night show at Xcaret and we thought it was great - I will warn you, if you don't know spanish, you'll have barely a clue what they are saying, but you will get an idea of the story just by watching it. There is some great dancing and traditional Mexican performances. There were these 4 guys hanging from a pole that must have been 100 feet in the air and they were haning by thier feet and playing the flute of some sort. I know it sounds crazy, but it was pretty amazing!!
  21. What is everyone doing for a rehearsal/welcome dinner? I wanted to get everyone together for some kind of welcome dinner, but it seems that it is getting to the point of being as expensive as the wedding itself. I wonder if we all can't just meet for dinner at a restaurant at the same time? I mean, we can't all get kicked out, they did book us all there and it is all inclusive! Any thoughts??
  22. I love etsy too....now if I could only figure something out to sell on there, lol!
  23. I'm looking to see if I can do something to earn a little extra cash for the wedding. Obviously it can't be majorly time consuming, but I was wondering if any of you were doing something to earn a little extra money
