    Welcome Lisa, happy planning!
  2. Welcome around! What we're doing is having our wedding at the Iberostar Paraiso Beach in Mexico and my mom has graciously offered to throw us a backyard BBQ sometime this summer for everyone who couldn't make it to the wedding in February. I think this will work out well. Good luck to you!
  3. Welcome and good luck with everything!

    Hello!

Welcome Angie! You're getting married 8 days before me hehe.
  6. I went to a wedding at The Grand Palladium in the Riviera Maya in 2006. It's a fantastic resort. I'm not sure about groups of 50-60 as the wedding I attended was fairly intimate and was held in the gazebo near the gardens (which was lovely as well).
  7. Yeah, Iberostar wants blood tests and I've heard of some resorts ask for x-rays too. Hehe, thanks Kate...I keep telling myself that but it's nice that others think I will survive too haha
  8. Thanks Kate, hearing this from you makes me feel better about it already. Thanks Kat, that thought had crossed my mind too I will continue to confirm and if I find out before I leave that it won't work, I'll get married here and have a symbolic ceremony there. If I found out after I get there that it's not ok, FI were thinking and hoping we can have a symbolic ceremony there and get married here when we get home. Do any of you ladies know for the symbolic ceremonies if there's always a minister on the resort (even when not needed) to perform the ceremony? Thanks again everyone, this site is awesome and you're all so fabulous and supportive!
  9. Thanks ladies, I will keep you all posted and I will try to have a waive of that policy in writing. I totally agree how a lot of people in these places will tell you it's ok and then you get there and it's not, that's why I'm freaking out
  10. Just wanted to chime and say that certainly is a daring dress and congrats on being able to pull it off!! I know I couldn't!
  11. No real way to change the flight as there aren't any rooms available the week before, sadly! Yeah, I plan to confirm the heck out of this til the bitter end, and probably 5 minutes before we leave on Feb 16/09 lol. I just don't want to spend the next 5 months worrying about it but I'm afraid I will. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it!
  12. Hello ladies! Sorry if I post this in the wrong spot, I'm new here... So here is my dilemma, and if anyone here has been in this situation before, maybe you can give me some insight...I hope. My fiance who I have been dating for 8 years finally proposed to me on Aug 19/08, due to a number of scheduling issues, as well as my (selfish I guess?) wants, it was always in my mind and heart that I wanted to marry my fiance in 2009. So this past week, I was able to secure a wedding date of Feb 19/09 at the Iberostar Paraiso Beach. The Iberostar's policy clearly states that they want their wedding couples to be at the resort at least four working days (not including arrival date and wedding date) to complete blood tests and paper work. We arrive at the resort on Feb 16/09 at 10 p.m. I spoke to my travel agent about this issue and she reassured me that our wedding coordinators at the Iberostar Paraiso Beach (Ms. Palacios and Ms. Ake if any here knows of them) said they would make an exception for us and expidite everything once we're down there. However, I'm still very anxious about this....what if they decide two working days isn't enough time and tell us "no"? How will I know for sure everything is going to be ok? What if they say no once we get there and I just wasted 20 of my family and friends' time and money, it would be horrible. I guess I should add we're having a civil marriage. My TA also assured me that she would be getting a written confirmation from the wc next week and would pass it my way when she gets it. I just don't know... Has anyone ever done this or know anyone who has? I need something to calm my paranoid fears. Sorry for the long post, looking forward to some insight though!
  13. Thanks Lindobride2009, I will check it out! Quote: Originally Posted by luckyj711 I am not bringing decorations. My mother nixed that idea very quickly. I will bring some ribbon that matches my colors so that if I want to do something with the bouquets I can. Other than that I am sitting back and relaxing! I totally agree with not bringing decorations, I mean that's great if some of you girls are, I just know for me I don't want another thing to stress about.
  14. Thanks Lindobride! I plan on emailing the photographer this week to get some samples of his work. His website is Foto Caribbean - Riviera Maya but there's not a lot to see there and the site is poorly designed (sadly). Hopefully he can help me out.
  15. Are any of you ladies having the resort photographer photograph your wedding? If so, did your coordinator send you examples of how their pictures turn out? Thinking about going this way but I want to see some samples first..
  16. Thanks Lindobride2009 and Allaballa! I was so stressed out last night just thinking about everything that I still need to do haha.
  17. Hi Crystal! Congrats on your engagement. I'm new here too but I went to a wedding at GP in the Riviera Maya in 2006. It is a fantastic resort, you'll love it!
  18. Hehe, thanks for the warm welcome everyone!! I forgot to mention we got engaged on Aug 19/08, so I have a lot to do and only six months to do it in...well 5 now haha.
  19. Hello ladies! I'm new to the board but just thought I'd toss my name out here! My name is Kathy and my FI and I got engaged on Aug 19/08 and we're getting married at the Iberostar Paraiso Beach on Feb 19/09 (six months to the day! I didn't even request that date, I guess it's fate haha). So I'm working on a tight deadline here! Are there any past/present/future Iberostar Paraiso Beach brides out here that can answer all of my silly questions? Planning my wedding is exciting and stressful all at once, all day I've been feeling like I'm going to vomit (sorry TMI I know). I'm sure I'll be a nervous wreck when the big day finally comes lol.
  20. Hello everyone! I'm new here, thought I'd introduce myself! 1. Name: Kathy 2. Wedding date: Feb 19/09 3. Wedding location: Iberostar Paraiso Beach, Mayan Riviera, Mexico Any other Paraiso Beach brides out there??
