It really depends on what you are looking for. Not sure what you like, but the fi and I loveeee resorts that have that Mexican feel to it ie: everything open, colorful. The beach was also a huge factor in our decision. Our top 3 choices were Barcelo, Dreams, and Grand Palladium. We ended up choosing Barcelo because we just knew on our site visit that it was the place for us(and it was raining when we went to visit!) Dreams was absolutely beautiful, we really did love it, but it was maybe a little too "fancy" for us? Don't know if that is the best way to describe but I can't put it any other words! Grand Palladium was amazing, but way too big! Barcelo had the best beach by FAR-- you can choose to have your wedding in a more secluded area under palm trees on the beach, or you can have it right out in the open on the main part of the beach. Barcelo has a very mexican feel to it--bright colors, "open" restaurants(we don't like how some resorts have all of their buildings closed in). My parents also stayed there a few years ago and said that it was amazing and the food was fabulous. Hope this helps! If you have any more questions just let me know!

I have pics somewhere, I will try and find them for you. But we did not find the beach to be very rough? They had one of the best beaches we had seen(with Barcelo having the best one).

The legal ceremony, if it is on the beach, can not be religious. You can only have a religious ceremony if it is in the chapel or in a church. I'm pretty sure you can write your own vows and add readings to the ceremony, I don't see why not? Anyone getting married in late june/early july 2010? I wanna meet someone who is getting married around the same time as me =)

Thanks for posting this! Apparently last year in PDC the drug cartels assassinated their version of Quintana Roos president- at least that's what one of the workers at the resort we visited told us. But it's like anywhere you go. You are in another country, just exercise caution and follow your gut, and you will be fine. We are planning our 2nd trip back since then =)

Yea-- we called too in order to book our date, bc the emails were taking too long!

We just visited, and it's not too isolated. It's isolated enough, but if you want to go to playa, it's about a 40 min drive. And it's beautiful!

Kam--just visited barcelo in september to decide between 6 resorts for my 2010 dw. The fi and i fell in love with barcelo--their beach was the best out of all of the resorts we visited, and the atmosphere is just beautiful. We totally fell in love =)
