  1. They turned out so great!!! I love them! Your guests will be so excited when they receive them!

I had much better colors originally but my FI wanted blue and yellow because we are sailing RCCL and that's their colors. I think I will have final veto power to change it up but i'm waiting until closer to the wedding so there is less time for discussion about it . I plan to email the video to everyone the same day I put their care packages in the mail. That way they'll know to start watching for them! I like the idea of adding something like, your pre cruise care packages went in the mail today...just to be more specific for them. Some of the video went a little slow, but I wanted to give everyone time to read the text and take it in. I can't wait to send it out! Thanks for your comments and ideas!
  3. I saw them on a Bachelor update show and they seemed to be pretending to be together. Not surprised to hear this. Sad for them, i'm sure it's not going to be easy with the media.

  5. I thought I would share my attempt at a DIY video project. Here’s a little background on the idea before you view the video… I went to a destination wedding a few years ago and my friend (who will be at my DW) did OOT bags. I was trying to think of a different thank you gift for guests because I felt like I should do something other than what she did. Long story short, I decided to send out a pre-cruise care package. I’m going to make a few of the awesome DIY projects I have found here (welcome books and luggage tags) and wrap them up and mail them out to guests about a month before we sail on our cruise. I was trying to think of a way to let them know we are sending them a thank you gift via mail, mostly so I will know if someone’s gets lost. I came up with the idea of putting together a “thank you†video using Windows Movie Maker. It’s was so much fun to do and pretty easy once you learn the ins and outs of the program. I’m attaching a rough draft version of the video…I have about 4 months left to play with it so I’m sure it will change between now and then! If anyone has questions on how I did it please let me know! I’m totally willing to help out if anyone likes the idea. I’ve never posted a link or attachment before so I hope this works!!! 6. Oh my goodness!! This thread is hilarious to read! I love the snowflake brandy thingy comment . I just started our registry online last night and I have to admit it's a lot of fun putting together! I was being a party pooper about having a shower. But it's really fun to be able to put whatever you want on a wish list of sorts!
  7. Have a wonderful wedding! Things will only get better!

I so agree about not wanting to have a shower! I didn't want one (not that i'm ungrateful) and the couples family picnic was the best option. My FI isn't so thrilled with it...he would have much rather I have a girls only shower that he wouldn't have to be a part of. He's going to die when he finds out we are opening gifts in front of everyone! I told him to drink a few beers and the shower will be a blast . As our wedding gets closer a few other people have mentioned throwing us a shower too. It works out well this way because we can invite everyone and have one big one in a park, versus a bunch of them. Why are people so nice?!?!

I have to say that I think that's probably best, IMHO, becuase sometimes there's actually cash in the envelope and that's just not good = it's a bit awkward in front of everyone to even show that there's cash vs. a card or a cheque. Better to have a little basket for card/envelopes and then only open those cards that are actually attached to gifts, along with the gifts, in front of people. The basket will be a great way to not have to go through the awkwardness of it all. Great thought!
  10. I agree, that is really tacky! We won't be announcing anything . I didn't want a shower but was told I was being a stick in the mud and they wanted to do it for us. We compromised by having a family picnic in a park. I'm leaning towards taking the cards home to open and simply thanking everyone as they leave. I wasn't sure if that would be rude. Plus, we'll do thank you cards. Thanks for your thoughts!
  11. I say TA all the way! I'm pretty independent too about booking my own trips. In this scenario a TA can be a huge asset for you. You really don't want to have to deal with all of your guests travel arrangements and questions. Even if you give them the info to book individually, there are still going to be lots of questions for you. I believe you can even find a TA on this website?
  12. Hello! Here's the scenrio I have a question on and wanted your much appreciated opinions... My aunt is throwing us a family picnic wedding shower in September. I had a lot of hesitation over even having a shower because of the whole destination wedding thing and not wanting DW guests to have to buy us a gift. We aren't having an AHR either and I didn't want anyone to think the shower was a gift grab. My family and friend's that cannot attend the DW insisted on putting this together for us, which in the end is super thoughtful of them to want to do. Because it's not your typical wedding shower i'm wondering what to do about opening gifts. My mom says you always open gifts at a shower, and you take them home and open them at an AHR. So if we are opening gifts at the shower do you open the "envelopes" too? I know some family members and friends will give us "envelopes" in place of a gift because we aren't having an AHR. Honestly, the whole thing makes me nervous! Thanks for your input!
  13. Welcome! I'm doing a cruise wedding too. I would love to swap info and ideas!
  14. Delta keeps doing it too! We just had our second switch.
  15. It seems there has to be a way to get your money back. Have you contacted the Toursim Board in Fiji? Here's a link: Fiji Islands Travel Guide | Contact Us Can the resort help you?
  16. Have you been to Brides of France? Here's the dress I almost bought from them. Make sure to checkout the back! Kathryn La'Croix 5056
  17. I'm from MN and had the same issues. Have you been to Brides of France? Both of their locations (Edina and Uptown) have different selections. They have some unique and amazing dresses! That's where I bought my veil and it's so simple and gorgeous! It's actually my favorite part of my wedding attire. I also found great shoes there. How about Glenrose Florals to Formals in Plymouth? Glenrose isn't the greatest as far as interior decor, could be cleaned up a bit, but they have a big selection of dresses at reasonable prices.
  18. I would go with the hotel planner. That's a lot of money you could use for fun things during your trip!
  19. We are using all songs by The Beatles. I'm walking down the aisle to "Do You Want to Know a Secret". I love the Stevie Wonder idea too!
  20. I'm a fellow cruise bride too! Welcome!
