  1. I totally agree-even if I wanted to look at other resorts who is going to have a date in May available? I am with you-I am going to wait and see what happens. It is kind of stressful-my guests are starting to book and I am going to remain calm and cool

I emailed their wedding coordinator and heard back from Jacy the same day (wow!). My fingers are crossed that DT will be open very soon, but I would contact Jacy (I got her email address from the DPA website) if you're interested in learning more. I really hope it's not necessary though!!! I feel sick to my stomach when I think of everyone who has weddings in the next couple of weeks. Life can sure throw you a curveball... For what it's worth, when I emailed Jacy about my wedding in May, she assured me that I wouldn't need to switch anything and that DT would be up and running really soon. Sarah are you changing your resort? I am nervous also but we are still 6 months away and so much can change in that time...what are you thinking?
  3. Jody-I would wait and see what happens on Monday with DT. According to the things that I have heard you should be fine next month...I could be wrong but it is worth waiting to hear what happens on Monday
  4. I make daily calls to the reservations people and they told me that they would be open on Monday. She said that they were positive about it. Trish where ever you get married it will be perfect and amazing
  5. I am sure that Dreams will do everything to get the proper documentation ASAP

My wedding isn't until next July but I must admit that this whole situation has me stressed. This morning I was ready to go to the local JP and just be done with it, by lunch I had decided to have a local wedding, after lunch I decided I definitely wanted a destination wedding but at a different resort, then I decided to get married in my backyard because I know it will be available when ever I want it, and then....wellllll after all that I decided to drink some wine! The best decision I've made all day. I'm curious about the girls that have weddings scheduled further out...are you planning to stick with Dreams Tulum or are you going to try to book your wedding elsewhere? It sounds like the closure is temporary but a court battle could be in the works. My worst fear is that the court battle will end with a permanent closure around the time of my wedding. I just don't know if it's worth the uncertainty at this point. Honestly I don't know what to do and would love to hear your thoughts. Amy I am not getting married until May 2 2009 and no I am not changing my plans yet. The resort is very confident that they will re-open...I also think that it is 7 months away and there is plenty of time for them to get everything worked out
  7. Trisha you are in my thoughts and prayers! Good Luck and most importanly-CONGRATULATIONS ON GETTING MARRIED!!!
  8. We love Bon Jovi-it is on our must play list! It does make me a bit calmer knowing you had 25 people and the DJ also
  9. I just spoke to someone again in the US and she read me the note from the Sales Manager of Dreams. It said that the resort was closed due to permits-people who checked in last week are still there and the resort is still running-you can still make reservations. I know that this is no help to those brides getting married this weekend and this week but they said that they get daily updates about it.
  10. I just feel like if it is a gift, then it is a gift. Thanks for the advice and thoughts ladies
  11. So-the past 24 hours have been so stressful. Monday night we are all sitting around eating dinner at FMIL's house and Jay's grandmother says that since she has given him so much in the past she is not giving us a wedding gift Who says that? Let me tell you what she has given him-she gave him $10,000 for a down payment for our apartment. I wish I could give her a check for the money so she can stop bringing it up. Then, we are slowly finding out that everyone who said that they are comign to the wedding are not going-which sucks because based on the number of people we expected I hired a DJ for $1500...and I can't cancel him and eat the money so we are going to have a DJ for 20 people-I mean how dumb is that going to look Ugh-I hate people sometimes!!!!
  12. we did also-we met on Jdate-went out on a few dates and then nothing happened. A year later we ran into each other and decided to go out again-and that was it
  13. Trisha everything looks so good! Where did you order your towels from?

I just realized my Spanish is really crappy. I need to go and visit my fam in Bolivia asap. I am not sure how correct that article is because I spoke to 2 people in the US from Dreams and they both said that the resort is expected to re-open ASAP-latest next week. She also said it was a permit issue
  15. Sol thank you so much for posting this. I think a lot of us Dreams Tulum brides are very worried about this situation
  16. I just spoke to someone from Dreams in the United States-she told me that they are not taking reservations right now until Monday. They were in court yesterday and today and should know more tomorrow. They DO expect the resort to re-open in a few days. I know that if you are getting married there now they are directing you to Dreams Cancun...I guess we have to stay tuned and see what happens. The person that I spoke to said that they are confident that everything will be fine. Trish and Brooke my thoughts are with you guys for your wedding! I really hope everything is ok
  17. OMG-I am getting nervous-I know that my wedding isn't until May but this is not good, not good at all. You poor ladies that are getting married in a week-I can only imagine what you are going through. I am sure that it will all work out in the end Tammy thanks for the updates-keep us posted
  18. COngrats! Come join the other dreams tulum brides on the Dreams Tulum thread-you will find so much great information on there
