    Newbie Here!

Welcome! Have fun exploring the forum.
  2. Welcome!! You'll have lots of fun here.
  3. your story sounds similar to mine. we also will have been married for a while before our "wedding". but who cares! we can still throw a great party. welcome... there is so much helpful information here!
  4. Well, I went to salon #2 this weekend and had MUCH better luck! The dress that is standing out right now is Allure 8365. It felt so perfect!! The only thing I am struggling with now is the size. It's HUGE! I was hoping from some advice from you ladies who had a successful beach wedding in a ballroom dress. Would you do it again? Is there any other advice you may have for me? I do have much more time to look, so finding something more travel-friend is an option. Thank goodness I have you ladies to pester with my crazy questions! Thanks!! OH, here's the dress. [sorry couldn't find any of the model standing...grrr!]
  5. we recently bought one too... our motivation is abc.com you can watch LOST, which is the perfect amount of time for a great warm up, workout, and cooldown. about 42 min total. the only disadvantage is that about 3 times you have to get off the machine and click the "continue" button with your computer mouse. a very easy way to solve this problem is to move your elliptical out of your computer room & in front of your TV! and who knows.... it may already be there. if not- you can also try netflix. online movies are included with most plans, and they involve no clicking, etc! best of luck!
  6. yes. assets are fantastic! i have heard that they are a little more "giving" than spanx, and are made by the same designer sarah something i think... Maura is right on- i bought the size the package suggested and it was fine. i wear them to work on a very regular basis and they are comfortable. but from what i have read, spanx are less forgiving and far less comfy. forget what Oprah says, try the half-price assets- buy your size and see what you think. i can handle them for 9+ hours of work before they get uncomfortable (and remember that is without any champagne...)
  7. i am secretly addicted to this show, so hooray for season 3. i did really like ambre though- so that's kind of a bummer.
  8. lol DH showed me (and our pastor) that last night. i love the unicorns!
  9. omg. what a bummer!! you'll have to let him know that he has some serious making up to do. i don't know what "put it on our calendar" means for you... but i was tired of dealing with this same sort of thing, so i went to target and got a $15 white board that fixed the problem! it has 3 different sections: calendar space- where you write in the date & any planned activities, blank white board space for notes, and a corkboard section to tack on important papers. PLUS- the whole things magnetic. it's hanging right next to the front door & is wonderful!! maybe something like this will help you keep your plans. best of luck!
  10. I really want to get boudoir pics for DH for our "wedding" gift / 2 yr. anniversary. [We were married in Jan. 08, but it was very low key. We're planning the real wedding with the dress, rings, and party for January 2010.] But my main question is about the photographer. I was leaning towards a female, but I was wondering if anybody had a great experience with a male photographer? Any input would be awesome! Also, anybody know of someone great in the Wisconsin/Iowa/Illionis area? It is going to be impossible to keep this a secret-- I'm so excited!!
  11. maybe our story would be more appropriate for "engaged & underage" instead of "true life". haha.
  12. welcome! bummer-- we aren't scheduled until jan 2010, otherwise i would be all about mtv being at our wedding!
  13. i was a d-phi-e (Delta Phi Epsilon) at MichiganTech. Because we have chapters in Canada we call ourselves "international"- ha!
  14. i was about $275. maybe because everyone will be flying from the north woods? yay wisconsin!
  15. engaged & married at 22. [he was 23]. we just knew.
  16. you look absolutely fabulous!!! & your story reminds me a little of sex and the city. what did carrie say about charlotte having the perfect wedding and a terrible marriage? i think a "drama filled" wedding may be lead to the perfect marriage. you def. pulled it off perfectly! great work.
  17. thanks for the speedy reply! i knew you ladies would pull through.
  18. i love being a "noob" to this forum. i am totally addicted, and DH has started making fun of me when he catches me in the act [daily...] but i am wondering when the "noob" status will change to something a little more exciting. i did a little search, but quickly gave up because i know somebody will reply to this at lightning speed. is it # of posts, time since joining, ... points?? thanks ladies!!
  19. perfect holiday plans! booze it up around the campfire for me
  20. oh it sounds fantastic!!! i'm already married as well, but we haven't had our "wedding" yet. we did a super quick marriage in January right after i graduated and before we moved in together & are planning the main event for Jan. of 2010. i am kind of feeling the same -- just not super excited about it. i am SO happy being married, and things are going great. i think that may be why i'm not stressed about invites, decorations, or really even my dress... it's almost like "i'm already married, so who cares what shoes i wear". honestly though, i am really hoping the excitement comes to kick me in the butt! i'm thinking it'll come in time. 2010 seems so far away! best wishes.
  21. i also used ribbon. we bought a small sized hole punch & $0.50 ribbon at michaels. the ribbon was cheap and there was a great color selection so it was easy to match the passes perfectly. we did 110 3-page boarding passes & went through 2 rolls of each color .
  22. i love the "mini" cupcakes! it looks like you threw a heck of a party
  23. is there a new book picked out yet? i'd like to get in on this!
