She sent me the wedding packet but it didn't have any prices for flower upgrades. If you have that information, would you mind sending it to me? Thanks you, Heather
  6. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. We are having our wedding by ourselves and then plan on having an at home celebration a few months later. I would like to incorporate my FI's neice and nephew into the reception in some way (he is 3 and she is 1). His SIL was a little upset when we said that we were having a destination wedding. Can anyone give me some sugestions? I feel like if I tell her they will have a part in the AHR she won't be upset. Thanks, Heather
  7. Can't wait to see it. I tend to cut and change my color often. It's fun and if you are getting bored, you deserve a change. I think it will look great. Heather
  8. Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows about the bouquet prices for Sandals. I know Couple uses Floral Fantasy and I found a bouquet that I liked on their website. Do they have the same policy for flowers as they do for photographers? I really didn't want to have just carnations, roses, or daisys. I wanted to have a choice. I got the wedding packet from my WC but it didn't have anything on flowers in it. It only had the flowers associated with the Preston Baily packages. One other quick question, what do you get with the al a carte pics? My WC told me that the only way you can get the negatives is if you order the packages. I know that some of you said that you can get them if you spend an extra $200. Any information would be helpful. Thanks, Heather
  9. You will get great info here and there are a lot ROR brides. Heather
  10. Your dress is perfect. I am glad that something easy happened for you. I know that your bridal party had been giving you a tough time lately. Hope that situation has improved. Heather

The rooms are definitely less "hotel like" in the older section, but the new section has tvs and mini-bars and glass on the windows. We just took a standard room in the older section and loved the nuetral toned decor (I hate bright or flowery rooms, what can I say... hehe). The A/C worked fine and I cranked it when I was getting ready... lol. I'd recommend that to everyone!!! Both resorts have pros and cons for sure. I'm sure both have great food. Both include a ton of activities (like diving). Both have "free" wedding packages. I'm sure they're quite similar. A big price discount could be a make or break factor for sure! Reasons we picked CSA were the room decor (no tv, natural, huge verandahs), that there were no differences in services between room types (i.e every room can have breakfast room service and flag service on the beach), that the grounds were lush, tropical, secluded... and as far as the wedding... free cat cruise on our wedding day, and a big, big, big deciding factor for us... they allow outside vendors (like Sungold) whereas Sandals does not.... and Paula and Damian are so awesome! Anyway... sorry... not to hijack the post! Just that she asked why one over the other! You will love Negril and have a fabulous wedding at Sandals. You didn't hijack the post. You actually helped me quite a bit when I was trying to decide. Thanks for all the great advice. It mostly came down to price for me. Heather
  17. Have a great trip. You will make a beautiful bride. Heather

Made it feel so much more real for me when we finally chose and booked our trip for our wedding. So excited, Negril looks amazing doesn't it? Everyone has told me how great Negril is and I can't wait. You are right, it is definitely a huge weight off my shoulders. You will have to let me know how you like Couples. If you haven't already, check out their message boards. They give a ton of info on the Couples resorts and the brides that have married there previously are so nice. I will say that I highly suggest you don't go with the resort photographers. Many of the brides went with outside vendors because their work was not very good. You can check out Sungold photography. Heather
  19. From what everyone has told me, the one place that you need to go in Negril is Rick's Cafe and watch people (or do it yourself) dive off the cliffs. Most of the excusions are in Ochos Rios that I am aware of. I have only been to Jamaica once and I was in Montego Bay. I would try either your TA or talk to the resort that you are going to stay at. I am sure they will have suggestions. Have fun planning, Heather

Misohapi, I will say that I did a lot of research. I was originally going to go with couples but it was actually this forum that got me to change my mind. Couples is great if you are looking for a resort that is less "hotel" like. Many of the rooms do not even have windows or tv's. Many people like the fact that you can here the ocean and and other night sounds through the shutters. My only concern with this is what if got really hot? Would the AC work while I was getting ready for the wedding. I will say that the costs at Couples are much better than Sandals with flowers, hair styling, ect.. but the trip was cheaper at Sandals. Sandals is having a huge sale right now (I got 45% off our room). I just wanted a resort that was more spa like. I did not get that feeling from Couples (I could be wrong b/c I have never been there). I also heard that Sandals is a little more fun while Couples is a little more secluded. The final decision came down to the price (we are on a strict budget) and the fact that sandals waived the wedding fee ($200). If you want more information on Couples, they have a great message board on their website and the people really answer all your questions. Let me know if I can help you any further. Heather

I am doing it this way because neither my family or his have the money for a wedding let alone a trip. I have always wanted to have a low key wedding on the beach, so this is what we are doing. I would like to incorporate his neice and nephew into the reception some way. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks, Heather

  24. I am so excited. We just booked our wedding at Sandals Negril. We will be there 4/21 to 4/28 in 2009. Our wedding will be on the 23rd at 4pm. If anyone has ever stayed at this resort or got married here, please let me know? I have mostly seen everyone getting married at the riu resorts or in ochos rios. I would love some feedback from anyone that has stayed in Negril. I just want to thank everyone on the forum because it does make the planning a lot easier. I don't have a lot of planning because it will just be the two of us, but I have gathered some great ideas that I will definitely use for our wedding and the reception we will have at home. Thanks again, Heather
  25. Alyssa, I am so sorry. You and your family will be in my prayers. Heather
