  1. Great review! You have good pics of the resort too. I'm sure that'll be very helpful to anyone else getting married there.

Apparently he used to call Jello "Woggle Pudding" and FI used to laugh at him for it, because he said his dad was always making up fake words. Well, about 6 years ago some of FI's German cousins came to visit (twin girls) and they were all out at lunch with FI and some others and they pointed at another table and said "Ooooh can we have some woggle pudding?" FI just about died. Apparently the German words for Jello sound like woggle pudding. LOL...
  3. That sounds like they are all train wrecks! I've never heard of this: it's a tv show? Bizarre... I'm sure I'd have to watch too though, if I'd known about it
  4. We just had a terrible time trying to find something light coloured. If that's what you're looking for, we finally had luck at Mexx, but there weren't many left~!
  5. Ask your Wedding Coordinator for a suggested time based on when the sun sets. Our wedding is at 3:30. Sun sets at about 5:10pm in Playa on Dec 12. We wanted to leave room for if the judge was late. Now we coul dprobably bump it to 4, but I'm happy leaving it at 3:30. 4-5 is our cocktail hour and pics on the beach and then we have a couple of free hours before dinner. Definitely talk to the WC at your resort!
  6. Yeeeouch!!! Luckily our resort is only charging $25 for each person who is not staying there to come to the wedding and to dinner... I should talk to FI about this again though and I think I'll put our decision up on our webpage... Crappy! There doesn't seem like any 'gracious' way around it.

We bought a small chocolate mold (starfish shape) and fimo and he is a MASTER at making these! I am just going to leave him to do them all. I'll bake and glaze them, but they look fantastic! I'll make sure to post a pic once we have one complete. We only planned to give one per couple/family and then any singles will get their own. So we only have about 10 to make. A few extra because there are some people who can't make it to the wedding who have asked for one (my best friend and sister), which I'm happy to do. That sounds really great!!! yay for a creative FI! I had a specific idea in my head too and these are smaller than I'd wanted... but at the same time I'm glad that they won't require too much prep work. Good luck with yours and be sure pto post pics. Thanks for the encouragement! I feel pretty organized, but I have done everything so gradually that it has never really felt like work. That sounds really good too. So lucky that you got a great ceremony ready-made. I really disliked the one we were going to have, so we will be preparing our own. But luckily I have Morgan's and a few others girls from the forum's ceremonies to pillage! hee hee!
  8. Wow. I'm so sorry to hear your news, Lisa, but really proud of you (even though I don't know you) - that you not only realized what was going on, but decided to do something about it for yourself on your own. I was with someone before too (and engaged). We broke up, but it was mostly because he wanted it to end. I'm so grateful that he did that, because it was so unhealthy. Even so, it's a very difficult thing to do - because you get so close to your partner. He was my best friend for 5 years. We're all here to listen whenver you need to vent. Definitely go to Mexico. Make it your "new start" vacation. It'll be so much fun! Andrea
  9. So I ordered these little shell 'charms' from Oriental Trading Company, hoping to use them as our Christmas ornament favours... I was planning on threading a ribbon in one of our colours in the ring on the shell and attaching a monogrammed tag to it (that would be removed probably b/c it'll be too big). OR I could get the ribbon that it dangles from printed with our name and date or thank you, for example... I know some others girls on the forum have ornament favours. My questions are:1) Are these too small? (I thought they'd be bigger) 2) I only bought enough for each 'family', not per person and my hope was to make our favours in boxes that doubled as place cards, like this: So should I go get more of the shells or is it weird to give every person a Christmas ornament because then there may be some families who have like 4 ornaments... am I overthinking this? LOL! Someone slap me! 3) Or should I just add them to the OOT bags as a 'bonus' and get some different favor to go in our little boxes on the tables?

They were way smaller than I thought they'd be, but they're really cute. And I think that once I thread some ribbon through them and package them up they'll be perfect. I just posted pics of them here: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t26545 My only issue right now is: I only bought enough for each "family", not individual at first, because I didn't thinkt hey were going to be our favours. So now, do I 1) Add them to each OOT bag as a gift per family 2) Keep them for the actual favours, which are going to be in boxes and double as place-cards. This means I"ll have to order more. That sucks, but I totally know the feeling. Me it's just my parents. My father is going to stay at another hotel in town. I hope that with that exception others will want to blend, but they may not.
  11. Congratulations!!! That's a quick planning time, but I'm sure it's going to be fine. We were engaged March 1 and started immediately. Our wedding is December 12. It's kind of good to have less time - less time to get bogged downi n all the fun DIY projects and go a bit nuts on that end. LOL! Definitely come on down to the December thread and tell us about yourself Andrea

I may need to rush it of course, but some of my friends are making me feel doomed that I'll have to buy one that is off rack & I can't order it anymore?? Help! Laura Laura - yeesh! Yes, I'd get on it really soon. I don't think you can take much of a deep breath. I think you need to get a dress in the next month. I waited until Saturday to buy mine, which was cutting it a little close. They say it'll take 2-3 months and then I need to get it altered. What style are you thinking of? What really jumps out at you? Have you looked at different stores than bridal stores online first, like J Crew or other different online kinds of stores? Let us know what you're thinking of and maybe we can help!!! You'll be fine, but let's get 'er done in the next week or two!
  13. They both look incredible on you and really show off your curves. It's almost an impossible decision>! I think I'd go with which one is most comfortable as you'll be hot and wanna dance!
  14. All your wedding stuff looks so great, Maura - thanks so much for putting it all together for us to look at! Hope you have a wonderful wedding. You'll be a stunning bride!

    hello!

Welcome to the forum, Gemma! I bet you're excited to go on your site visit!
  16. Her stuff is just gorgeous. Check her Etsy store out! She even refunded part of my shipping because it wasn't as much as she thought it would be! She refunded $1.50. How cool is that?

  18. Katrina: I'd love the postcards and the magnetic frames Andrea
  19. 2 more MAJOR accomplishments today: Bought the dress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and FI and I found a suit for him and he bought it too!!! Also, yesterday I went by Michael's and a few other places and got some ribbon and glue dots today, so I can start on our fans soon! OH and I decided on the colours finally: berry/hot pink, light pink and 'pool' blue. Woohoo!!!
  20. Wow. That is just gorgeous on you! It's a very unique dress. And the mantilla is beautiful too. You must be so excited! I just ordered my dress today. I can only imagine how hard it's going to be to wait the 3-4 months...
  21. Wow. Those are incredible. How long did it take you to do that many invitations And are the flowers stamps? They look so well done - they look like they were all professionally printed.
  22. I received my flower today!!! I was a bit of an idiot - it was my first Etsy purchase and I hadn't hit the Paypal button, so it took longer than it should have because I hadn't paid! Anyway, it's beautiful. It arrived in the same kind of box as was posted above. Very pretty - all pink The clip is very sturdy and it's a 4" flower. The close-up pic makes it look bigger than it is, so I'll also include a front view of myself to show how small it actually is (I think it's the perfect size). Excuse the wonky hair - it was in a ponytail and it's all screwy!
  23. Congrats, Monica! Those pics are absolutely gorgeous. You were a beautiful bride. Your dress s beautiful on you!
