Thanks for all the helpful information you guys have posted regarding Moon Palace.... my fiance is interested in changing our resort and this place looks great. One question: If we pick the "free" wedding package, do we have to put any money down to reserve our date (since they require 50% down 14 days after confirmation?) Just curious how much $$ we would need to fork out up front. Thanks for your help guys! Evelyn

Go to the riu.com website, click on "Weddings" then on the right it says "Wedding Request." Choose the destination from the drop down menu, then your package (just pick one if you dont know which one you want yet). Then it will have you select your ceremony option (Religious, etc.) and the hotel. Press "Check availability" and they will get back to you!

Yay! I'm glad your search is going well. I love the Jalisco because of the greenery and the gazebo is GORGEOUS! I am not sure who the wedding coordinators will be once we get to the resort. I went on to the RIU.com website and submitted a "Check Wedding availability" to see if my date was available. Within 2 days I got a response from their Cancun/Vallarta wedding coordinator, Tristan Chacón. I have e-mailed her several times over the last week and she is very professional and quick to reply with all of my questions. The latest news is that they are NOT booking weddings for the new resort, RIU Palace Pacifico, because the resort isn't even open yet! They will start booking weddings there next year. The resort photographer is still Aldo Tovar. She also e-mailed me a price list of additional services beyond the wedding package (DJ services, etc). It is pretty reasonable! I will see if I can post that on here! Let me know if you have any other questions! How exciting would it be to be down there at the same time!!

Thanks for the info!! What time of day does it usually rain? My wedding is in June '09 and I picked 5pm for my ceremony time... it sounds like the showers come in the late afternoon.... yikes! Should I make my time earlier??

Take a look at the RIU hotels in Nuevo Vallarta... Like you, most of my guests are on a limited budget. I wanted to have something affordable but also AI so that once they got down there they wouldn't have to worry about anything. I ended up booking RIU Jalisco for June 2009. My local TA quoted me $333 4 nights and $500 7 nights (airfare NOT included). She expects that airfare will be around $450 pp. Their wedding packages are comparable to those at Dreams. There are a couple of girls on here who have weddings at RIU Jalisco and RIU Vallarta (you can find them using the search tool) but I've found it isn't a very popular venue on this forum. I have, however, talked to 3 people from work who have been to both hotels and absolutely loved it. They said the food is amazing! Good luck to you!

Thanks so much for posting all those pictures! You have no idea how reassuring it is to see actual wedding pictures from here! I am still debating between the 3 RIU hotels (one is opening just down the beach in Oct '0 but I hear that the beach location is the same for the RIU Vallarta and RIU Jalisco. You are right, the sun loungers aren't too close. I never thought about photoshopping out people who get into the pictures... that is a great idea! I also appreciate pictures of the cake and the info about the photog. I believe his name is Aldo Tovar... I have tried to go to his website recently, but it isn't working? Not very reassuring! Thanks again for all the info! It looks like a beautiful wedding!

I am not wearing a garter or throwing my bouquet either!! I am so happy to hear that some of you other ladies don't really care for this tradition! We aren't having quite a conventional wedding, and I don't know about you guys but most of my guests are not single! However, I agree it is a matter of personal choice!

I am so excited that you are having your wedding here! I am seriously considering this resort, especially since they have so many excursions included in the price of the stay! If you have any feedback regarding the WC at this resort, or the resort itself, I'd be excited to hear about it!
