  1. I love the siggy theme this month!! We just got back from Jamaica a few weeks ago and I miss all the beautiful colors. It is rainy and cold here in Missouri! i love all the beautiful flowers!!!
  2. Great Post!! Thank you! Ok I had to post when I read this statement... "I guess what I'm trying to say is that there is a difference between "constructive criticism" (e.g. "I think your dress would look better if you didn't wear the hot pink sash") vs. "rudeness" (e.g. "Really your getting married at "XYZ resort? I hate that place, they have cookie cutter weddings and are basically a wedding factory" I so wore a hot pink sash!! I think it is so funny that you said that!! i did not take any offense but had to comment. (does it really look bad?) It was just really ironic! I am a very sarcastic person but am very careful about what i write because facial expressions can give it away in person. I love this forum and think everyone on here has all best intentions. i don't know what i would have done without it. Again thanks for the post!! Here is my hot pink sash! Hope you love it! HA HA! 3. Your pictures are wonderful!! It makes me want to go back! Did you purchase all of those pictures form michael or did he e-amil you all of the pictures that he took? The reason i ask is we bought the CD with 60 pictures but he told us he would send us all of the pictures he took. i am worried they will have proof written on them or they will not look very good. If he did email all of the pictures to you they look great. To answer someones question about the salon. I got my hair done there. They told me it would be about an hour and a 1/2 to 2 hours. i took a picture of what i wanted and she whipped it right up in about 45 min or less. They do them everyday. She did a great job! I wouldn't worry about the $40 practice. Again your pictures are BEAUTIFUL!!
  4. I got mine form Davids Bridal. I think it was only $65 and would go with almost any dress.

We did the sand ceremony with three differnt colors. Right after the ceremony i packed the rest of the bottle (about half of it) with beach sand and put a cork in the top. I kept it in my carry on purse wrapped in papre and a plastic bag. It was big! I made sure it stayed upright as much as i could. When we got home some of the sand had settled but none of the colored sand moved a bit. I love that I can have it on our mantle and it looks the exact same as all of the pictures with the exception of the beach sand. It is your day you can make anything happen!!!
  6. OMG!!!!!!!! I love them!!!! Doesn't it feel so good to say you made them? I love the colors! they will look amazing in your pictures!!! YEAH!!!!!!

In Jamaica it went thru the xray and the lady stopped me and said they were going to look thru my bag. She asked my what that was and I told her we just got married and did a sand ceremony. She then told the xray lady that is was just sand and they didn't even open it. When we arrived in the states no questions were asked about it at all. i don't think it is a big deal as long as it doesn't have any liquid.
  8. I am so excited for you!!!! i wish we could go back! i can't wait to hear how it all went. Have fun!!!!!!!!! and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. We got married at the ROR in March. I am also a teacher and had to choose a time we were off of school. It did seem to be a bit more expensive because it is prime time there. But the weather was BEAUTIFUL!!! We are only getting married once and would not done it any other way! Good luck and welcome to the forum!!!!!
  10. UP UP UP!! It was breezy and even with my hair up there were still pieces blowing around. I think you will be much happier!!! I am so excited for you!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!

I am currently trying to decide to have or not to have one and if I find one as beautiful as yours, it's going to be a yes for sure! Absolutely beautiful!! Thank you!! I am very proud of my new family and love to show them off. Michael, the resort photographer did a great job! I got my veil at Davids Bridal. It was $65 it think. I wasn't sure about wearing one because it would blow in the breeze. I am so glad I decided to. It did blow a little but I thought it was a neat touch.

SOO much cheaper especially since they would need flowers for Jamaica and my AHR. And I made my bouquet last night... and I LOVE it!!! Thanks for all the pics, seeing yours and how beautiful (and real) it looked with your dress really inspired me. And now I am so happy with the result!! I am so glad that I could help. I am such the bargin shopper. The flowers mean so much more to me because I was able to make my wedding my own, and now I can keep them forever! Do you have a pic of them? I would love to see them. They also rellay do feel real! On jamaica the humidity made them wilt a little and they seemed even more real! I am so excited for you!!!!
  13. We had a friend stay at our house. She has let them out before and they knew her so i felt better about leaving them home. We have never left for that long and were worried they wouldn't eat at the Kennel. If we were going to board them we were going to take them to our vet. They were the only reason we came home from Jamaica!!! We would have loved to stay longer!
  14. We got married at RIU Ocho Rios. We had 3 kids with us. It didn't seem like there were a ton of kids just running around. We LOVED the RIU and will go back for sure!!!
  15. How exciting to be packing. I think I was packed about 1 month before we left. I wasn't wearing any summer clothes at the time. I was soooooo over packed!!!! I didn't wear half of the stuff I brought but had to wash it when we got home because of the wet feel and smell. I suggest that if you ever want to know the time bring a watch! We didn't and there are NO clocks anywhere!! It drove me nuts. I also second the travel mugs. your legs will thank you! I so wish I could go back with you guys!! Its cold here and beautiful there. You will have a great time. I can't wait to see pics and hear how it went! Have fun!!

Was it hard to narrow them down? Dive you a low-res CD with everything that he took so you can order more later? He took about 275 pictures in all. It was really hard to narrow it down. We prepaid for 30 pictures when we got there. When we were actually looking at the photos it was looking like we were going tohave to get more because we couldn't choose. We ended up with 60 pictures in total. We got 10 prints to bring home. (This was included in the initial picture package) He told us that if we wanted to order more pictures he would email the whole file to us and then we could order more. He didn't give us an option to get a low-res CD. But I can always email him and he will send the pictures. He told us he that he still has his pictures from his first wedding. I hope this helps!

These will be easy to transport and an ideal keepsake afterwards. Is your wedding outside? Just an FYI it is really breezy in Jamaica. I am worried that the flame will blow out. This may be something that you may want to check into. It was not a problem for me taking our sand ceremony things to Jamaica and bringing it home. I had it on our carry on. It is your decision I just wanted to make sure you were aware of the breeze. Good luck!!
  18. We just got married at the RIU Ocho Rios in Jamaica. It was amazing!!! I would highly racommend it to anyone. Good Luck and WELCOME!!!!!
  19. One more thing i forgot. They can take ANYTHING out of the pictures in the photo shop. They took out any people, boat, bouies, the blue wrist band (HA!). I wasn't there to remind my hubby! So the photo shop will cut it out. Also because we ordered more pics on a CD he gave us the 10 that were not supposed to be home use rights on it to copy at home. I also second that he keeps all of the pictures that he takes and you can always order. He told us he still has his from his first wedding he did when they opened. Heidi I just noticed that you leave so soon!!!!!! Congrats! How exciting!!!
  20. I would like to add some comments to this thread. We used Michael when we went. He was great!! We didn't want to pay a lot for pictures. We were only going to get the 30 pics on a CD. Then we saw his work and it was amazing!! So we ended up getting more. you only do it once! After we got all of our pictures back, the ones we took were good but his were better. There was a shadow in almost all of them. I also saw a list of weddings that they had scheduled and next to quite a few of them it said own photographer. I don't think he is really going to kick someone out of your wedding. like Calia said if you are nice to him he would be nice to you. Here are the pictures he took and the pictures we took. I hope you can see the difference online. Oh Calia I loved your pictures also!!! I'm sure the photographer will be calling you to use your photos for marketing! Thank you! I have always had that vision. It didn't take long to pick everything out because I did know what I wanted my dream wedding to look like. I made my own flowers. I went to the craft store locally and picked them out and put them together on my own.
  22. Glad you are here! You will find so much information to help with your dream wedding! Congrats and welcome!!!!!
  23. I am glad to hear that she is able to get back to you so quickly. Good luck to you all!
  24. I got my sand ceremony containers at Hobby Lobby. I also made my own flowers from there. i love that place. They are all glass. i just wraped them in paper and had them on my carry on. We were in Ocho Rios jamaica and on the way home I had it in my bidg purse carry on. i had a cork in it so the sand wouldn't come out and wraped in paper and a plastiv bag. it went thru the x-ray thing and they asked me what it was. i told them sand because we just got married. They didn't ask anything else. My husband has an 11 year old. This was a excellent way to involve him into our ceremony. Here are some pics of our wedding. There are sand cereomny pics in one of them. Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions.
