  1. Hi! I was just wondering for those who got married at EDR, did you pay the set up fee for the reception? What items did you bring to set up? And, did you think it was worth the cost It seems pretty outrageous to me that they are charging for this...I would prefer to do it myself or have someone I know do it.
  2. We've decided to save the money and ask one of our friend's to videotape...that way we can see video of the ceremony and then the rest will just be unedited video...hehe...
  3. So, I'm trying to decide between having a solo guitarist or to use an ipod/speakers for our ceremony music. I have mixed feelings- I like the idea of having live music at the ceremony, although song choice is a bit more limited. But, I'm thinking of using "Here comes the sun" for my aisle walk song and the guitarist CAN play this. If we use the ipod, then, we can basically choose any song, but, I feel like it's not as special. My FI completely wants to use the ipod, but, said it's up to me. We can also use both guitarist and ipod if we want. I'm wondering what others think....
  4. We are ordering 80 pairs of these flipflops for our guests. Alex has been great to work with...they are even able to deliver them right to my wedding planner's office the week before the wedding, so that I don't have to carry them back from the US. They ship out of Mexico anyway.

I was like OMG by the time this cheese goes bad I'll be married! Very random. That is SO funny, drtracy! I've had a few moments like that too..looking at the expiration date on food...weird! On a different note, I'm feeling ok with where I'm at/things I have to do... it helps to keep lists and focus on a few things at a time because when I look at EVERYTHING at once, THEN, I get overwhelmed. But, for some reason, I feel less stressed now than I did in the beginning because now it's happening and seems more real...before I had all this stuff in my head and nothing was happening. Does that make sense? Also, I had the surprise of my life (not really) this week...my fiance actually asked me if we could set a time to sit down together and go over everything we need to do and what each of us should be working on from now until the wedding! I was like..."uh..YES!"

Lauren Does anyone know if you CAN sew the nu bra in?? That would be great! Then, I wouldn't worry!
  7. I'm having a hard time with this too. We have decided to surprise our parents with a romantic breakfast in bed at the resort the morning after the wedding. Then, I was thinking of giving my mom a photobook of us from earlier years until the wedding and my dad a photoframe of the same idea. I won't be able to give this until after the wedding though. I was also hoping that I could give something to them at the wedding or before.

I can't believe the NuBra is on sale at VS! I got mine at the bridal salon for $77!!! I also got ripped off on a veil there too....boy, I'm realizing how stupid I was for buying there!

I would suggest a backup bra just in case...like maybe a low back bra or corset? Good luck! Ok, that's what I was thinking! I don't want to wear any real bra underneath my dress....now I'm not sure what to do...maybe I'll ask my seamstress for help with this one! Thanks!
  10. I just bought a pair last week when I picked up my dress. It's basically soft, SCARILY real-like boobs that stick to you and give support if you're wearing a backless dress. It just hit me today that they might fall off in Mexico if I'm sweating...I'm not sure...anyone know
  11. My cousin is coming with his wife and baby and they have to stay at another resort because mine is Adults Only. They are the only ones staying elsewhere. I can't decide if I should pay for their pass... $$ is not really an issue with them, so, I don't need to, but, I think it would be a nice gesture..thoughts?

The minimum order is 100, but, you can pay $30 if you want to order less...that's what I did...I think it's totally worth it. I can't wait to get mine this week!
  13. Hi! Welcome to the forum! I'm getting married at EDR in May. This forum is a great resource...there is an entire thread dedicated to EDR somewhere on here. Let me know if you have questions!
  14. I ordered these...I'm expecting to get them any day now...the quality is really good and you can put your own logo for no cost. Canvas Boat Tote, Promotional Canvas Boat Tote, Personalized Canvas Boat Tote
  15. Ok, thanks for your help! That's a good point, sunsetbride1....I hope that everyone checks their email. I think what I'll do is send out the first email (requesting dinner selection etc.)...then, I'll determine if there is anyone who doesn't check their email by who responds/doesn't respond..then, I'll send out the travel brochure later... Only thing is...for some couples, I am planning on sending the email to only one person...then, the other person might not read the brochure..you know what I mean?
  16. It's such a scam! Anyway, you're right...at least I got a pair of shoes that I love (and will actually wear again) instead of paying a fortune for one piece of fabric that I'll wear for only one hour of my life!
  17. Thanks for your help! I called the bridal salon first thing Sunday morning and told them I wanted to cancel my veil order....she told me she would call me back in 15 minutes and then never did until yesterday! Anyway, they agreed to cancel my order, but, would not refund my money whatsoever! They gave me a credit to use towards something else in the boutique instead... I decided to get the pair of shoes that I loved but didn't get because they were too expensive. Even though I love the shoes, I'm just pissed that they would not refund my money....what about buyer's remorse? Lesson learned: DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM A BRIDAL SALON UNLESS YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN YOU WANT IT!
  18. I am planning on sending out a pre-travel letter or brochure about 1-2 months before my wedding. I was also planning on emailing everyone soon to get some information from them (dinner selection and flipflop size)....What do you think about also emailing the pre-travel letter (maybe as an attachment to the other email)?
  19. I just got mine yesterday! They were way more than I wanted to spend (another story), but, I love them and can't wait to wear them! Don't mind my awful pedicure!
  20. My FI is also trying to find a song for him and his mom. One of our friend's danced with his mom to "In my Life" by the Beatles and I thought it was so sweet...I actually might use that one for my father/daughter dance...but, maybe your FI would like that..

It's really frustrating to do anything wedding-related after buying a dress (such as looking at bridal magazines) because there are amazing dresses plastered all over the place! I too worry that I got talked into my dress, or that I was sick of just not choosing a dress (I literally went to about 20 stores in 3 different cities) but I figure if I went that long without picking something I could've gone longer, so I must've liked it! Another thing that I constantly remind myself of is that the dresses in the magazines are definitely NOT always great in person. There were a few that I completely fell in love with, and then once I tracked them down and tried them on I thought they were terrible (they looked cheaper or not as nicely finished, or just plain didn't suit me). If you're feeling insecure, try bringing a friend or family-member to a fitting to see what they think. Us brides tend to over-think everything and constantly look for the next-best thing, but I've found that the people I'm close to are always good for a reality check. Great points! I totally agree that if I didn't look at other dresses here and in magazines, I would probably be ok with my dress. Also, I've had the same experience of tracking down dresses only to find that I don't like them on me or in person. I have to keep reminding myself how special I felt when I first put my dress on and how my sister (who hates wedding dresses!) actually cried! My sister and Mom have been nothing but reassuring to me...but, there is just this little part of me that feels I could've done better.
  22. I won't be much help to you, but, I just wanted to say CONGRATS!! Also, I will be on my honeymoon in Belize (Ambergris Caye) the week you are getting married! My FI and I will be there May 4th-11th. We don't plan to do much...mostly relaxation, but, will definitely check out San Pedro and do some snorkeling. I really want to go to the "Blue Hole", which I heard is amazing for diving and snorkeling. If I hear of more, I can let you know!
  23. I totally understand now what you all are talking about... I just tried my dress on today for the first time since I ordered it 5 months ago. It's a beautiful dress, but, I just don't feel super excited about it right now....there are parts of it that I'm just not liking now and I'm not even sure if I like the way I look in it. I know that I tried on at least 50 dresses before this one, but, I can't help thinking that I made the wrong choice because i've seen others recently that I think I like better. I'm glad to know others felt the same....I'm hoping the day of the wedding, I'll feel differently...but, it kinda sucks to feel this way.
  24. I went for my first viewing/try on of my dress today and I also bought a veil. I think I got totally ripped off on the veil...I paid $265!!! I really didn't do much research on veils before today and now I'm realizing I think I could have gotten it for a lot less!!! Plus, the veil is nice and looks good with my dress, but, it's nothing special at all. I can't believe I fell into the bridal salon trap. I was thinking of calling them tomorrow to cancel my order. Any thoughts?
  25. Thanks for sharing! Everything looks great! I LOVE your sand ceremony reading...I think I'm gonna steal it! Congratulations!
