  1. yeah, i have the white macbook. i've heard it's common with that version (from 2006), not sure about the new ones though. Overall, I LOVE mac over pc and would still get another one if needed. Today, I'm trying to think positively---it's taught me a huge lesson---back up your stuff always!!!
  2. Yes, Zulma told me the same thing about the ministers and judges. We might be having one of our friends do the ceremony. Also, not sure yet, but, it's very possible that'll we'll also be there on the 5th (cinco de mayo!)! Shannon, if you're getting married at the Gran Porto Real, is Zulma your coordinator or do they have their own? Just wondering....
  3. It's a macbook (not pro). Got it new in 2006.
  4. Thanks for all your responses! It helps to hear others with the same problem. My FI took it to the apple store on Monday, then, they sent it to an outside computer company. The guy said he's seen this a lot with my version of macbook. He said I could send it to another high-end company, but, it will cost at least $1700! I'm willing to try anything and even spend a little $$ just to get those pics back, but, that seems a little outrageous. I feel so helpless when it comes to computers! (oh, btw, i'm on my work computer right now
  5. Ok, so, I just found out today that my the hard drive of my mac computer is destroyed! I am soooo upset! Some of the stuff is replaceable (all my research on weddings through this website and more), but, more valuable things like my pictures from the last 6 or 7 years of my life are GONE!!! I can't believe it!! I know it's all my fault because I didn't back up my stuff....but it still hurts!!! Anyone have any suggestions?
  6. Hi Kriswim, I've booked my wedding at the Royal as well on the SAME date as you!!! What time are you having your wedding at?
  7. Thanks you guys!!! I will definitely be "tuning" into this thread and others related to The Royal. It is so nice to hear other brides who are getting married there. Although I haven't made my final decision, my fiance and I got engaged there last summer and ABSOLUTELY loved it there, so, right now, it's my #1 choice! I think I will go ahead with your suggestion, Heidi, and book my date "tentatively". Thanks for that!
  8. Hi Ladies, I am also considering a wedding at The Royal next spring. Antonia, you mentioned that you "tentatively" booked your wedding date in May and then officially booked it later in August. How did that work?? I am going for a site visit in May and was planning on booking AFTER that. If I have certain dates in mind, is it better to book tentatively now? Just wondering...
  9. ok, i think i might have gone into a time warp or something... we met on 8/31/97, engaged exactly 10 years later, and are getting married in 2009! i think that'll be almost 12 years once we're married! but, we broke up for 3 in between.
  10. Welcome! This is a great site and you'll find lots of information! I am thinking of getting married at The Royal too next year and would love to hear about your planning/wedding experiences.
  11. YES! I totally agree! Losing 1-2# per week IS desirable and everyone loses weight at different rates. I think the important thing is that he develops a healthy eating and exercise regime that he can stick with!!! Most people can lose the weight, but, the key is keeping it off! I'm sure he has a goal in mind, but, who cares if he gets there in 1 month or 6 months!?? It takes time to change poor eating choices just as it took to develop. I give him props for trying and it sounds like he's doing great so far!
  12. I am a Registered Dietitian and I typically recommend probiotics to individuals with digestive issues, but, they may also be useful to keep your digestive system healthy. The important thing to keep in mind is the quantity of bacteria in a probiotic because the reflects the effectiveness. For example, one that I recommend is called Yakult. It has 8 billion bacteria in a 2.7 ounce container! Many food products claim probiotics, but, often, they don't have enough to be effective.
  13. Yeah, I LOVE the show too, but, annoyed with all the waiting between episodes. ...only 4 more to go...then who knows? Also, nice distraction from wedding planning!
  14. Thanks for all your responses. FYI, I asked for a discount to do a site visit at Secrets Capri. She offered me a 20% discount. So, I guess it doesn't hurt to ask. Quote: Originally Posted by jujigirl Does anyone know if there are any discounts available for site visits??
  15. Ok, Sorry! I'm new here and wasn't aware of the previous conversations. Thanks for your help! It is definitely helpful!!!
  16. Just wondering if anyone has anyone heard of/used "destinationweddings.com" It is a company that does travel/hotel packages for you and your guests. Is anyone here familiar with this company? If so, please share any information/thoughts.... Thanks!!!
  17. Stacey, Thanks for the welcome! I would love to hear about your experience with planning a wedding at the Royal since that is one of my top choices. I stayed there in August and loved it! Who is your wedding coordinator?? Rhonda
  18. Hi! My fiance and I got engaged at the Royal in Aug. 2007. WE LOVED IT!!!! We are considering getting married there, but, want to look at other places just to compare. The rooms there are amazing...jacuzzi in every room, very clean and big! The food was good...many choices, which we liked. The beach was also very clean and nice! Also, it is in walking distance to downtown PDC, which I think is key. Although we only left the resort 1 out of 6 nights, it was nice to have another option close by. My only concern about it for a wedding is that I don't think it's as private as other resorts. When we were there, we watched a wedding go on as we were laying at the beach. Not sure if that's the same for other places. Perhaps there is a way around this Need to find out more... I hope that helps!
  19. Hi, I'm planning on getting married in April 2009 in Playa del Carmen. I'm considering going for a 3 or 4 day visit in April to visit a few sites and meet with coordinators before making my decision. But, I'm starting to find that it might be somewhat costly. I'm wondering if it's even necessary. Any thoughts?
  20. Hi! My name is Rhonda. My fiance, Mark and I will be getting married in April or May of 2009 in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. I'm looking forward to hearing about everyone's experiences with planning a DW!
