  2. How long did it take for you to get your confirmation?? We sent ours via email on March 24th...The anticipation is killing me, especially since they told us that they original day we wanted was all ready booked...
  3. If I was your friend, say from work, and knew that we weren't that close to be invited to your wedding, I would still want to be invited to the shower so I could celebrate with you. but that is just me and I know some people would get offended if they were invited to the shower and not the wedding. Maybe you could judge who wouldn't care and who would consider it rude?
  4. I know where you are at, we had orginally started in Mayan Riviera, then to Cancun, Jamica, and I THINK we have finally decided on Dreams PC as well, we're hoping for a May 2009 date, but the day we wanted was all ready booked, so we're hoping for our 2nd choice.. How long did they "hold" the date for you before you gave them confirmation paperwork??
  5. Couldn't find anything else about this place here.. Does anyone know, or has anyone been to this resort i Purto Plata
  6. Cograts! That is so exciting! Wishing you all the luck and perfect health!
  7. So we are a couple on a budget! And while my dreams would be to do a formal "ta-do" at the resort it just doesn't seem possible with 40+ guest coming and having to pay for extra food, sound equipment etc. So I am now looking into a Mayan Riviera resort where we can get the "free wedding" and then having a recepion on a catamaran. I found a website online and emailed the guy and received a prompt email answering my questions. I need to do a bit more research to make sure they are safe and reputable but I thought I'd pass along the email with their package info and their website. Hi Meagan, Congratulations on your upcoming wedding (you've picked a beautiful location). As you may have heard, wedding receptions are a specialty of ours, so we know what it takes to guarantee a special day. The base price for a four-hour charter of up to 50 people is $1200. The tour includes snorkeling and swimming at a secluded inlet in the warm Caribbean. We offer round-trip transportation to and from the Barcelo Maya at $10 per person. (Our marina is about 20 minutes south of the resort.) In addition, you can take your pick from our food and beverage options. Our sandwich/snack menu generally features baguette rolls, guacamole, tortilla chips, and Mexican salsa. However, we're always ready to accommodate the special wishes of our guests. (The "open bar, sandwiches, and snacks" option is priced at $14 per person, the "open bar only" option at $10 per person, and the "sandwiches and snacks only" option at $6 per person.) With a capacity of 50 guests, our 46-foot catamaran is a mid-size alternative to the huge party boats that ply the waters of the Mexican Caribbean. To learn more and to reserve online, please visit Reserve Your Mayan Riviera Tour Online with Paradise Catamarans . (We also have a morning departure you can access at Reserve Your Mayan Riviera Tour Online with Paradise Catamarans .) Although we've assigned default start times for our charter tours, we'd be happy to adjust the departure to fit your schedule. Of course, we'd also be happy to answer any further questions. Since we're a one-boat operation, you probably shouldn't wait too long to book. We collect a 30 percent deposit through our secure online booking system at the time you make your reservation. You can cancel with a full refund up to seven days before your tour date. (You'll also receive a full refund if weather spoils your charter.) We pretty much assume that guest lists will change. If you can get us a final head count at least three days before your wedding day, we can adjust with no problem. I hope the wedding planning goes smoothly. Best, Mark
  8. Today was just a bad day. I had to get my car fixed, which cost me $350 bucks for a tiny part, what a rip off! So I decided I would walk from where I dropped off my car to work, which was only 1.2 miles, so not bad! Well as I gracefully strutted down the street and when I was only a little ways from work, I go to step around an ice patch ( Live in Vermont and just had some snow/ice crap!) and boom I step wrong and hear my ankle go pop! So I fall down in the snow, sitting there like an idiot cause I can't get up and THANK GOD one of our maintenance guys go by and I wave for him him to stop! Go to the Dr. and see if it is broken and it isn't but I get to hobble around like a bone head cause it is either badly sprained or I have some torn ligaments! So between my car and paying for the doctors I am like over $400 in one day - Hello I am trying to save for a wedding! Why can't life be easy??!!! Okay, enough venting!
  9. I threw a Jack - n Jill Party for my best friend and her husband and to help ease things along, we had music, drinks and our two games were 1) the match game - we had great questions and people loved it. The best being "when I walk up his _____ is on my _____ we got some really creative answers! 2) put a number or shape under a few chairs and if they are sitting on that chair they got a prize - not to girly and not to long!
  10. I think they look great. I just don't think parents quite understand a destination wedding! My mom thought I was going to invite everybody that I would have invited if I was having a traditional wedding! Do I look like I am made of money??!! I wish
  11. I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think most people take them or if they do, I don't think they end up reading them or keeping them.
  12. Just be really careful with what you buy. I was the MOH in my friends wedding a few years back and I have a flower in the center of my chest, which she asked me to cover up. So I went online and did a bit of research and found some stuff for $40, well it wasn't worth it! It didn't match my skin, even with the lightest shade and so it looked horrible plus it didn't go on easy and smudged etc.....so just be really careful with what you get! IMO, if you like the tattoo and it's part of who you are, then I say show it off and if you have anyone good with photo shop they can crop it out. That is what my friend ended up doing with my tatoo because having the cover up would have looked stupid and the person taking her pictures said taking out the tattoo with photo shop wasn't hard because he knew exactly where to do the touch up each time! Hope that helps.
  13. My vote is for the Chiro! I go when everything just seems to ache and I can't do anything to make it better and after a few crack- snapple -pop...I feel better! They can even readjust your jaw --I have TMJ and my chiro just took care of my jaw!
  14. I saw a really cool STD postcard on here a few days ago when I was looking around. It was a bottle of sunscreen and sunglasses on a beach towel. The sunscreen said the date of the wedding as if it was the SPF and then their names and website were on the card as well. I thought this was so cool but I can't find again. My attempts at searching for it have brought me NOTHING! Any help would be appreciated!
  15. We are interested in the Mayan Riveria area as well and we are thinking about the Barcelo Palace, they have three or four resorts in the overall resort which means guests can have the option of going expensive or a bit cheaper. Hope this helps
  16. Welcome!! We're hoping to have ours at Barcelo as well!!
