Poll: Guests not staying at resort
Bride010101 replied to jamericangal's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
I have to second what Morgan said. What I am most looking forward to is being able to spend some quality time with the guests of our wedding... and would be extremely dissapointed if people stayed at other resorts. Although, ours isn't the cheapest AI we could have chosen... it was the one we wanted... and thus far our family and friends have understood. I never really listed resort alternatives... maybe wrong on my part... but no one has complained or asked about it. I am lucky though in the since that a portion of my dads family does yearly family vacations... so it is kind of expected. From the beginning we have talked about it as our wedding AND a group vacation. We decided not to do a group booking since we have people coming from different places... plus that way people could choose to stay how long they wanted (and how much there budget could afford). But since we haven't booked yet... I guess who knows what will happen. I guess my willingess to pay might depend on the situation and why they chose to stay elsewhere. -
Oh my goodness! So much going on for you guys right now. Just a bit longer and you will be in beautiful Jamaica! Try to take a deep breath and relax so you can enjoy this exciting (yet stressful) time!

Yay! What a great deal. Can't wait to see some pics. -
Just curious what everyone ended up doing? Did you end up using Christa? I would love to do a BD... but would need to figure out how to work it in the budget and find a photog that I liked (and would feel comfortable with). Just curious if any MN girls could send me any suggestions or recommendations?

Reasons I regret asking my sister to be my MOH (LONG vent)
Bride010101 replied to Maura's topic in Just venting or funnies
Maura! I'm so sorry that you are dealing with this. It sounds like your mom's side has given you enough issues - that your sister would realize and step up to fill some of the gap. I know she's just "22"... but as someone who's 22 I want to say grow up! Yes I know that I defintely still have my immature, high school moments... but at the same time we are old enough to take some responsibility for our lives and our obligations! Only you can decide what is the right solution. But from the sounds of it, your plan seems like the way to go. Your friend will be so honored to be your MoH! and it sounds like she defintely deserves it. I wish you luck! -

Hehe... in all honesty we can't complain to much because we were given a really mild winter. I think that the weather guy said we recieved like a foot less than normal... so tonight should put us right back on track. I'm just realizing I'm so not a winter person... the thought of more snow (espeically though in April) really depresses me. And if its going to happen, fine. But couldn't it at least occur on Monday or Tuesday ... so we would get a few days of school off out of it! Sure we have tomorrow - but 2 of my 3 classes were already canceled for other reasons so I wasn't planning on going anyways!

Yari I just wanted to say you are so sweet and so considerate!

I am waiting for Sean to get home and would like to run down to the lake before the storm hits. The waves are huge right now... and the lake is filled with white caps. I heard rumors of 9 foot waves and concerns that canal park (a small island type thing?) might flood... but have no clue if its true.

Heidi's ROR Review (LONG... 6 pages in Word!)
Bride010101 replied to Heidi's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
Congrats again! And thanks for an amazing review. I'm glad everything went well for you! Its so funny but I was also pretty sure now that I was going to do it right on the beach w/ an arch... but after hearing your review and looking at your pics ... I think I'm changing back to the gazebo. The suite looks absolutey often... I will be keeping my fingers crossed for the next 9 months that we are so lucky. What type of room did you have booked originally? I'm glad to hear Mammee Bay worked out well! Currently my plan is Mammee for dinner and then Seagrape for the reception. Looking at your pics the Mammee table looks pretty narrow... would you agree there is no reason to worry about centerpieces or anything? Also, I forget what time reception you had... but how was it for your guests? Was it pretty hot... would you suggest purchasing the raffia fans? Last, not sure if you'll know... but do they offer the catamaran/Dunn River Fall thing on Sundays? I want to encorporate some sort of group trip into my rehersal dinner. Thanks so much! Can't wait to see all your professoinal pics. You looked so happy and absolutely gorgeous. -
Seriously why do I live in Minnesota? We are current under a blizzard warning. To the point that the University of Minnesota Duluth cancelled school for tomorrow (Friday)... even though at this point in time we just have wind. (no rain or snow) Who gets a foot of snow in April Argh... well after spending way to much time at the grocery store.. I am now home and ready to be snowed in with my boy! ...BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 7 AM CDT SATURDAY... A BLIZZARD IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP AT THE HEAD OF THE LAKES THIS EVENING... STARTING AROUND 7 PM...AND CONTINUING INTO FRIDAY NIGHT. TRAVEL IS EXPECTED TO BECOME DANGEROUS VERY QUICKLY THIS EVENING. POWERFUL NORTHEAST WINDS GUSTING TO 50 MPH WILL DEVELOP THIS EVENING...ESPECIALLY NEAR LAKE SUPERIOR. THE INTENSE WINDS...COMBINED WITH SNOWFALL OF UP TO 2 INCHES AN HOUR...WILL MAKE FOR TERRIBLE DRIVING CONDITIONS TONIGHT. WHEN THE STORM HITS...IT WILL NOT MOVE IN GRADUALLY... IT WILL HIT SUDDENLY AND WILL BE VERY INTENSE. VISIBILITIES WILL BE NEAR ZERO AT TIMES! TOTAL SNOWFALL THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT IS EXPECTED TO REACH 10 TO 15 INCHES FOR THE TWIN PORTS...FLOODWOOD...KETTLE RIVER...POPLAR AND SOLON SPRINGS. LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS ARE POSSIBLE... ESPECIALLY IN THE HIGHER TERRAIN ADJACENT TO LAKE SUPERIOR.

I recently got a brand new VIX swimsuit on ebay for $40....that same swimsuit retials for $160. Just be careful when buying online.....if you are as panicky as me make sure on the description it says the swimsuit still has the hygenic liner attached. I once bought one that didn't and although they advertised it as brand new it smelled like chlorine..... I returned it. Yep... I had the same problem once. But was able to return it! I have made some previous poor ebay choices but have gotten better at reading descriptions and monitoring hte sellers status. -
Wow! Congrats everyone... you are all doing amazing. I am in desparate need of some motivation... might have join for Biggest Loser 2

Hah... What have I done? No favorite seller... but if you like Victoria Secret or Juicy swimsuits they usually have a wide variety. Those are my current favorites at least. No pics of me in them (not quite ready for swimsuit season) ... but here is what I've got. Most for under $15 each! -

So cute! I want one!
