I think it's best to hear what the resort has to say but also what the media has to say. If things are going badly in court the resort may try to make it sound better than it is to not loose too much business. I work in government so I see that type of thing every day - the government will always twist the truth around to make it sound better for them. So I think reading media reports can be very helpful, but you have to take it with a grain of salt and not believe that it's 100% the truth. I think you're misunderstanding what we're asking... It's fine if you guys post things you hear from the resort, AND - IF you can read & understand spanish, translate an article for everyone - from the media. Using those google translators is not even worth it - it makes little to no sense because they dont account for grammar and therefore will translate each word for word, despite the context in which it's being used. What I am saying is not okay is to post hearsay info from so-and-so's hometown TA saying "we heard Dreams is going to reopen in the next few weeks" - when in reality they have no way of knowing this for sure when there has been no official announcement, and nobody knows if the resort has been inspected again yet, and if so, what the results are. I am just asking that you all use good judgment in what you post on this thread, realizing that you brides are not the only people invested in this and checking this thread every single day. It's not cool to post speculation you may hear - it only gets people up in arms when it's totally unnecessary. I'm just saying, if you are going to post something you hear about the resort reopening, make sure it is FACT before you post it. Tammy is working very hard communicating with DT making sure she has the most up to date info for you.
  3. macs are much more user friendly than PCs. we are a two mac household (i have a powerbook & DH has a macbook pro - essentially the same thing but mine is one generation previous to his; his has the built in webcam, intel chip, etc) & plan to purchase our third in january so we can have an imac in our home office so i can work off a bigger screen. macs are superior machines especially for photo & video editing. ETA: i found out some people can run it on parralels on the new macs that have intel chips, but a lot of people report problems with the program. a spreadsheet program i use at work called lotus 1-2-3, which was a precursor to excel, also does not exist for mac, but theres no reason you should want/need to use lotus over excel anyway because excel is better. feel free to ask any questions - i have had my mac powerbook since 2004, and used macs in college & highschool prior to that. i use a PC daily and despise the PC, but my company is too cheap to buy everybody macs.
  4. first of all that translation is totally jacked and incorrect. second, that article is 5 (now almost 6) days old and not necessarily indicative of the up to the minute situation. i'm begging you girls to stop google translating spanish newspapers - it will always be incorrect because those internet translators dont account for grammar, which is why you can't understand the "translation." i know this is a difficult situation wherein there are many uncertainties, but the best thing you all can do right now is to WAIT until dreams tulum is reinspected and listen for an official announcement. until then ANYTHING you hear that is not an official announcement is hearsay and may be incorrect.
  5. Our very own Anny also does these… Here’s her website: Ana de Roux - Custom Invitations, Stationery & Design And here’s her Etsy shop: Etsy :: anaderoux :: Ana de Roux - invitations, cards, custom design She also has a great blog where she posts all her finished projects. I think you can link there from her website & her Etsy shop.
  6. i also have a white gold setting that needs to get dipped. my jeweler does it for free 3 times per year, he said any more than that is not good or even really necessary for the ring.

KP DermaDoctor is actually sort of an extreme moisturizer. my dermatologist told me with both this stuff and the carmol lotion NEVER use it on your face. it contains gycolic acid and urea. KP Duty at Dermadoctor it's recommended that you use the dermadoctor scrub with it, but honestly its super expensive for how often you should use it, so i just use the cheapie st ives scrub instead and that works just fine. i bought mine from sephora abbie - Sephora: Dermadoctor KP "Double" Duty ($72 Value): Bath & Body Sets but trust me you dont want me to buy it for you - the sales tax in chicago is 10.25%. sephora is doing free shipping though for all orders over $50, so that might be easier for you to order it from the website with the free shipping. you will pay way less taxes than if i get it for you. oh - and although the dermadoctor site says to use it twice daily, i never have, and have still seen great results from it. once a day was enough for me. but you should try it with once a day first and if that doesnt work, go to twice a day. i saw improvement within a week.
  8. jen, personally i hate the carmol lotion - it's more expensive because its prescription, and it doesnt last as long as the KP DermaDoctor creme. i used to use the carmol-10 solution before KP DermaDoctor was ever invented and it bleached so many of my clothes/sheets and honestly didnt do that great of a job of getting rid of my bumps. the KP DD works a lot better and i dont even have to apply it every single day. in fact, i havent even used it since just before my wedding, and i am only getting a few bumps here and there just now (my wedding was 2.5 months ago)

  10. anybody have tips or tricks for beginners wanting to make christmas cards? i have the full version of lumapix but have no idea how to use it LOL so i could use some more "getting started" tips.
  11. for me, the st. ives peach scrub is not enough - i do need to use it to exfoliate in the shower in the morning, but if i do only that, my skin just seems to get red & sort of irritated. i find that the combo of the creme plus exfoliating is what works best for me. i have KP pretty bad and am notorious for picking at it because it irritates me when my DH catches me picking, he makes me stop and tells me to go put my lotion on!
  12. at night only - once a day application, and a little goes a long way. if you put too much on, you are just wasting it and it will get sort of cakey & flake off rubbing against your clothing. just a thin application is sufficient.
  13. I have this!!!! And YES the KP DermaDoctor is AWESOME. Buy the 2 pack because you will save money. It's expensive but totally worth it. Be careful though - the creme can discolor clothing and sheets. I usually wear a long sleeve or 3/4 sleeve white cotton shirt when I put the creme on. The other thing I find gets rid of my bumps is chlorinated water - so if you can get in a pool, try that too. Let me know if you have more Q's about the creme though! I love it and used it religiously leading up to my wedding.
  14. happy birthday angel! hope it was great!
  15. anny your new stuff is beautiful, and i love the mini passport invites on your new website! i wish i was getting married all over again so i could order some haha

  17. mariesam, i cannot tell you without practically shouting... GET AN ALLIGATOR CLIP! that sucker did NOT move at all once it was in my hair after the ceremony & i took off my veil. i also had a thread about this way back if you do an advanced search for it.
  18. is this the song? Toby Keith Cabo San Lucas Music Video on Yahoo! Music by the way, i just searched for it on itunes too, and it came up. the album name is "That Don't Make Me a Bad Guy" and the song title is actually "Cabo San Lucas"
  19. you mean light tan like khaki? or more like an ivory suit? ive seen it both ways and it looks fine each way.
  20. also, my next question is: how do people living in a trailer afford a £100,000 wedding btw, £100,000 is equivalent to roughly $163,130 USD!!!!
  21. omfg i hate to sound ignorant, but what is this caravan living situation? danielle- i couldnt have said it better: Quote: Ewww. weirdos. OMG and she just turned 16. At the first pic i was thinking who lets their 16 y/o daughter look like that and than i saw her mom. it answered all my questions.
  22. i have no idea - but you can used the advanced search function to look up all the threads you started. you should be able to find it that way.
  23. i hear you all. we are no longer friends with a lot of our "friends" because they didnt even acknowledge our wedding. like not even responding to our RSVP, not calling me back when i left them a voicemail or email saying "hey i'm sure you've just been busy but i just wanted to confirm you arent coming since you didnt send the RSVP back" - we even emailed a few of them to get together after our wedding to show photos and stuff, and they didnt even return our messages. my own grandmother did not acknowledge my wedding at all - no call, no card, no gift, not before & not afterwards either. she was angry at me for having a DW and for other stupid reasons that dont warrant the way she behaved. my MOTHER, who i have not spoken to since november 2007, also did not acknowledge our wedding day, and did not come. my sister did not come to the wedding and has not spoken to me since she backed out of being my MOH back in May; she also did not acknowledge my wedding day with a call, email or card, let alone a gift. i've sent a card to every friend who got married, whether i was invited or not. it hurt me so much to have so few people recognize the happiest day of our lives. we JUST recently got a really shitty gift that was cheap & not even from our registry (and of course has no gift receipt, and we think it's a regift also to boot) from some friends of my DH's that shouldve at LEAST sent a card on time - my DH loaned his multi-thousand dollar drum kit to his friend's son so he could learn to play, because they couldnt afford to buy the kid his own set (who could in a recession like this?) -my point being, my husband did a VERY nice thing to let them borrow the drum kit we wouldve otherwise put in storage. and they couldnt even be bothered to email or send a card on time. in fact, aside from one text message from one of my cousins who couldnt go to mexico, the only other people i heard from via text message, blackberry messenger & email on the day before, day of, and day after my wedding were my closest friends from BDW. how sad is it that our internet friends love us more than our families sometimes? KWIM? i have gone out of my way to be helpful to my girlfriends who are now engaged because i know what it's like to be on the shit end of the stick when noone cares enough to help you, or they offer but then never fulfill that obligation when you ask for help.
