  1. Okay ladies my FI has been less thank helpful on this so I am turning to the experts. I am having a dilemma with the invitation/STD list. There are 4 girls that I have been friends with since grade school. "A" lives in Maryland and we email and talk regularly and see eachother when we are home for the Holidays. "N" lives in Florida and we talk, email send cards, etc. and I went to spend a week with her last year etc. The other two live in Toronto "J" and "M" Now "J" is getting married in Punta Cana in June and invited all four of us. I have decided to invite "J" "N" and "A" but really haven't spoken or seen "M" in almost 3 three years. I had decided I wasn't going to invite her - FI doesn't like her husband at all - they got married 4 or 5 years ago and we were invited but it was a totally different situation - I mean she lives iin the same city and I don't even speak to her. Now I am feeling that if she's the only one not invited to Mexico it might cause I ripple in the group but I don't want to invite her. Should I just send her an invite anyway? SHe is going to "J"s wedding in June so unlikely that she would attend in any event but not sure I even want to extend the invite.. HELP!
  2. I would check that out - we got a group rate through AIr Canada Vacations and it is only $40 per person more to fly from OTtawa to Toronto and catch the Toronto flight with the rest of us!
  3. I paid (or should I say my dad paid!) $1500 for mine plus whatever the alterations are..
  4. I'm a health lawyer working in-house for a not-for profit health care organization..
  5. I have seen Nat4crim's stuff at Bridal and Beyond which is in Mississauga - you can order off their website at Bridal & Beyond - Toronto bridal dress, favours, invitations, and accessories retailer for Toronto wedding and Canadian wedding
  6. We used wedding window and I absolutely love it! Easy to work with and update etc. Feel free to take a look if you want! http://www.missyandben.weddingwindow.com
  7. We are getting married this November too! It is certainly not as busy in November as it is in other months! The one wedding day resorts are hard to find - that was a major consideration for us which is why we picked the Paradisus - I know that Azul Beach as well only does one per day!
  8. Rates are generally a little bit more expensive this far out as well so depending on how long you wait you might get a better deal. You cannot get a flight confirmated until 330 days from the date of the trip, only an estimate which may be why the costs are so high. We got a great rate for the Paradisus for 1645 plus tax out of Toronto and our Ottawa guests can take advantage for only $40 more (which basically gets them to Toronto!) We have a rate for Calgary as well as FI's family is coming from there...
  9. We used a TA and got a group rate - most group rates all you need is 10 ppl to secure the booking and she was able to get a cheaper price then what was offered online. We got three different rates for the three main cities people are coming from - the good thing about a group rate is the free upgrades - some are to first class and we will get the upgrade at our resort as well in terms of room!
  10. Becks I feel so bad for you and am really surprised that they have been soo ridiculously slow to respond. In terms of the Royal Service, we also looked into that and got the same answer which I totally understnad given that the RS includes use of an adults-only pool etc. so. It is such a tough decision. I may be bias but I say stick to the Paradisus - I think any resort you pic will have restrictions - with respect to food etc. The thing about the extra 80 pp is you get a major reduction on that if you book a group rate with the hotel. Just a thought... Did you think about having a late dinner (when's it's cooler) and having it on the Tequila Terrace?

  15. We were there for FI's Best Friend's wedding last November - the ceremony was on the beach and the reception in the Mexican restaurant - are there specific pics you want? PM me and I can send them to you tonight!
  16. So glad that the site visit was great and thanks for all the pictures! The details you provided were amazing too - I am excited thinking about it - Have you guys set a date?
  17. Hmm.. Did you do a site visit? I still have some pics of my FI and I from the resort that I could send you - PM me if you are interested!
  18. Hi there; My FI and I stayed there in 2005 - Adults only, the resort was great - food was decent - service was great - all in all it was a great resort! Not sure what they do in terms of weddings (we weren't engaged then so I wasn't looking!)
  19. We struggled with the same issues - our costs are about $1900 per person which is a lot but we loved Paradisus and weren't prepared to compromise - I say keep it and whoever can make it will make it.. It is your wedding day!
  20. Congrats! That is sooo excited! Such a relief to finally pick your spot!
