  1. Everything looks wonderful! congrats and have a great wedding!
  2. I'm so sorry that your sister can't make it and waited until the last minute to tell you. Maybe she just didn't know how to break the news to you? I would tell my family to get going already!!! I pray that everything works out in the end for you!
  3. Thank you all so much. You made me feel a lot better! I have told my mom to stop asking me if I'm sure because I am and this is what we want. I gave everyone more than enough time to save etc. I already know some family that aren't coming and I'm fine with it (mostly because I'm not close with them just had to invite b/c they're first cousins). I'm still hoping my grandma will come but I can't stop everything because of that as much as I love her. We are doing what we want and I am going to enjoy the planning! Plus we are having a Church wedding that my grandma will definitely come too. My moms problem?? I probably will not wear my wedding dress..there is always something! Thank you all again!

That is ONE of the excuses she has given me in the past. But I explained to her that I don't care and this is what we want to do! I wish she would listen and be happy for me.
  5. Thanks for responding. I do think that she is talking mostly about herself because we are not doing the "traditional" wedding. She did mention my FSIL's but I'm very close to them and they are very excited and ask me about it all the time. I'm getting married in the Church a couple of weeks before we leave and having a small dinner with immediate family after. I thought that would be enough to satisfy her. I honestly think she cares about what other people think.
  6. I've had my DW planned since 9/07. I still to this day have my mom asking me if I'm sure I want to do this. My FH and I had a big wedding/reception planned for 2 months and then decided that everything was just too expensive (especially in NY). My mom cannot get over the fact that we are doing something different. I'm so tired of hearing her! I'm excited about my wedding. She keeps telling me that it's a hardship on people. I only invited my very close family and friends. My mom is the only one complaining but now I'm afraid that everyone is upset or disappointed that we're having a DW and I can't even be happy planning. The only person behind me is my sister (thank goodness)!!! I just want to know if anyone has been through this and how it turned out. Oh and my mom loves to tell me that my grandma may not be able to attend (I'm very close to her) and she knows that upsets me but I believe she will be there. I'm so sorry this is so long!
  7. I'm having the same thing, One MOH and 2 flower girls age 2 and 8. My MOH is wearing light blue and the flower girls are wearing ivory dresses with light blue sashes. Putting all three in the same color would work too. My colors are light blue and ivory.
  8. Everything is beautiful! Where did you get your invitations? I love them!
  9. Welcome! I'm getting married in Turks and Caicos too!
  10. Hi and Welcome! I'm getting married in Turks and Caicos July 2009. I plan on contacting you as soon as my fiance and I are set on the location etc. We're waiting for our planner to get back to us. Looking forward to meeting you!!

Yes I am working with NILA Destinations. Which wedding planner are you working with? How has your experience been? My fiance and I are planning on getting married on Grace bay beach and having a reception at Grace's cottage. Rosalind (the planner from NILA) hasn't responded to the e-mails though. I'm thinking they're busy this time of the year. Looking forward to talking with you!
  12. Very Beautiful! I think I'm going to be getting my invitations from them. They have great stuff.
  13. I'm not having a welcome dinner. I am going to have everyone meet for drinks the night before the wedding.
  14. We are getting married in a Catholic Church about a month before we leave for our DW. We are both Catholic and it isimportant to me to get married in my parish. Most of our guests don't know about the Church wedding.
  15. Welcome!..Sicily sounds beautiful!!
  16. I'm going barefoot for the ceremony and wearing my heels for the reception. I cannot imagine being able to walk in the sand with heels.
  17. Everyone at my Church ceremony are also going to be at my DW. I think I'll be getting a simple cheaper dress for the Church. Thank you all for your help! I appreciate it!
  18. Thank you for your reply! I was thinking the same thing. I really don't want my FH to see me in THE wedding dress only to take it off 2 hours later because I will either be in a restaurant or at my aunts house. I'm so confused.
  19. So I'm getting married in Church back home in June of 09. We are only having immediate family. About 25 people. We are having a full mass, walking down the aisle etc. No limos, no photographer, no big reception (obviously) I just wanted to have a Catholic Blessing. Afterwords we are all going to a restaurant or my Aunt volunteered to have a small get together at her house for dinner. I'm getting married in Turks and Caicos in July 09. Photographer, videographer, cocktail hour, reception etc. I consider this my real wedding. We're having around 50 people. My question is do i wear my wedding dress (the one i am going to wear for my island wedding) to the Catholic ceremony? Do i buy just a simple white dress for the Catholic at home ceremony? MY Wedding dress is going to be trumpet style and simple enough but I'm not sure if i would look ridiculous wearing that for a very small ceremony and celebration. What do i do Sorry this is so long!
  20. Sorry I haven't posted in a while. My FH and I have been trying to get into the swing of things as far as the wedding is concerned. We have a wedding planner now and im so happy about that! We will be having a Catholic Church wedding in June 2009 and doing all the legal stuff in NY. We are then having our symbolic ceremony in Turks and Caicos on July 10th 2009!! I still have to go visit the Church but I think everything will work out! Sorry again about not posting too much. Hopefully now that im on my way i can contribute more!! -Daria
