  1. I just watched your slide show and everything is so beautiful. You added a lot of cute touches to your wedding and reception that I may have to borrow. Where did you get your sand ceremony container. I couldn't tell if it was a frame or a box but either way I really like it. I also just noticed that you are from Camarillo. I am from Oxnard but live in VA now.
  2. Congratulations! Thank you for sharing your pics, everything looks amazing.
  3. Hello Ladies, Is anyone planning on doing menu cards for their reception dinner at Mammee Bay or the Plantation? If so do you know if the menus change frequently? The last menu I saw was from a few months ago and I would hate to print out menu cards only to get there and realize that the menu has changed. My reception dinner is at Mammee Bay but I figured this would apply to the Plantation brides as well.
  4. Were you able to have your dress steamed? If so, where? I know I've read previous post about whether or not the RIU can steam your dress but I don't remember seeing a final answer. Thanks
  5. Welcome back and Congratulations! I too am now considering the seagrape (if it is available) instead of the disco after reading your review.
  6. Your pictures are great and I'm glad to hear that you didn't have any problems with Michael. You were a beautiful bride!!
  7. I took one weekend and hit every bridal store in my area. I tried on a lot of dresses and most of them I did not like. I went to one small boutique and I swear every dress in the place was just my style. The owner sat down and talked to me for a while and she started pulling dresses and everything she picked was perfect! Well when I left I was between 3 dresses I waited about a week and went back and tried on the final three and one just seemed to stand out that day. I ended up with a Maggie Sottero gown. That line of gowns are beautiful so I'm sure you can't go wrong.
  8. Looks like watches are a popular groom gift. I will be shopping for a Breitling in the near future and I've heard that it will probably hurt my wallet, but he's worth it and I know that's what he really wants.

  10. You did a great job with this! The booklet idea is perfect for the OOT bags. I will definitely be borrowing your idea. Thanks
  11. I'm getting married May 9 @ 4pm. While I live in VA now I'm originally from CA and most of my family will be flying out of LA so some of our guest may be on the same flights. Sounds like you are a lot further in the planning phase than I am and you have some great ideas. I'll have to chat with you when I finally get my but in gear.
  12. Congratulations Lori! I am glad to hear that you had a wonderful wedding. I am getting married at the Riu but honeymooning at Sandals Dunns River so now I really can't wait.
  13. Hello All, I just joined this forum a few days ago but I have already read a lot of good information and some that may have even saved me a lot of headaches on my wedding day. I am scheduled to get married May 10, 2008 at Riu Negril. Everything was going fine until I learned that contrary to what the coordinator told me the Riu Negril does not guarantee you a private reception dinner. The confusing part is I received emails from her telling me the prices of the private dinners and telling me that I should reserve the restaurant as early as possible since they can go fast. If they don't guarantee it then what's the point of telling me that? Having a private reception is one of my must haves so hearing this could be a deal breaker. I have heard a lot of good things about Riu Ocho Rios and it was actually our first choice but we could not get the time we wanted on May 10. So after hearing everything about Negril I sent in a wedding request for Ocho Rios on May 9 at 2:00pm. All of this has happened in the last 24 hours, so we have not made any decisions as to what we are going to do but it's at least nice to know that we have a back up plan. I've read all the information about Riu Ocho Rios but I was wondering if anyone has any information about Riu Negril. In an ideal world I would like to go with my original plan and have my wedding and guaranteed private reception in Negril. But as we all know, in the world of destination weddings you may not always get exactly what you want. So any information, opinions, and recommendations, you all can provide me would be greatly appreciated.
  14. I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Niki. My wedding is May 10, 2008 in Jamaica. The planning process thus far has been a learning experience but I've gotten a lot of good tips from this forum. Hopefully I can share some of the things I learn along the way with you and continue to get tips from everyone else so we can all get through this process as smoothly as possible. Thanks and happy planning
