  1. We skipped out on the DJ. I found out that the DJ we were going to have didn't speak english, and that the Emceeing would be done by the weddin planning committee. I just spent 5 hours going through songs on Itunes last night, and so far have all the music for cocktail hour, dinner hour, and most of the reception. I love music, so I don't mind taking the time to put it together. Plus, I am super picky about music, and I heard the DJ down there has pretty outdated music. I am having around 50 people. We ordered a sound system through our wedding coordinator.
  2. I think that is a great song, and will set a good tone for the ceremony. Plus, I think it will make your FI's heart smile..
  3. I am in the same predicament. I would go with the first sond, because the second one would be hard to dance to. That's my opinion. However, I still haven't decided what we will be dancing too..
  4. I love it!! My dress is "too fancy" and probably will be hotter than the dickens, but I am only getting married once.. I'll suffer to be beautiful, LOL!!! If you love it.. get it!!!
  5. I bought all the dresses, the bridesmaids and flowergirls. I only have 3 bridesmaids, and 2 flowergirls. I bought them b/c I figured they were paying so much be at the wedding, that I should help them out. Plus, my sister (one of the Bridesmaids) has 2 daughters (my flower girls), and I figure it's costing them a fortune for the whole family to be there. I don't think I would've paid for them if I could've found them for cheaper, but I like what I like.. Darn that expensive taste.
  6. I am working with Kristin at Dazzling Details as well. I went through a lot of investigating before choosing her. So far I have been satisfied. I have 7 and a half months to go.. I will keep you posted..
  7. I was going to have a musician, but I am picky when it comes to music, so I backed out of it. I was either thinking beachy music, or maybe just a collection of our favorite songs that wouldn't swing at the reception. Another idea, the trend of music for cocktail is jazz... you could throw in Elle Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Harry Connik Jr. and the new Amy Winehouse..
  8. That is awesome.. It would be great to have a musically talented FI.. mine only sings in the shower, and can't play an instrument to save his life! I'm sure it will be beautiful. Make sure you have Kleenex!

We're probably having our first dance to "Steady As We Go" and there will surely be tons of Dave sprinkled into the wedding, reception, and rest of the events we have down there. We debated on I'll Back You Up, but decided the words are a little too garbled for most people to get on the first time through... Too bad you're out in California instead of a a Tennessee lamb marrying a dixie chicken... Isn't Dave the best?! That concert was amazing.. We stayed at the Signature @ the MGM Grand.. It was awesome!!!!!!!!

Maybe try to find those colored stones that you can put in the candle holders, and maybe some loose flowers around the vases. Otherwise, I like the set up.
  11. Heidi.. You are not overreacting at all. If anything, you boss is "underreacting (I think I just made that word up). I think your situation is a very sensitive one, and that you should be alotted whatever time you need to cope with your loss. I agree, what a B*itch!! Don't let her get to you, you need to focus on healing yourself. Your body needs nurturing, and it was a good thing to go to a massage. Your body has been through alot both physically and mentally. Try to forget about your boss, and just go on with your day. Some people are just born shallow. <--- That's for your boss..
  12. Oooo I really like those. I was looking at getting straw totes, but they look like they will be too expensive, and hard to travel with. Thanks for sharing.
  13. I would go 4-9, that way you have time to set up.. Then people can get done what needs to be done on Sunday, and play in the afternoon. That is 5 hours. I think it will be plenty of time.

  15. Well, Dan proposed to me on the night we went to see Dave Matthews in Vegas. Fortunately, the first song they played was "Crash into me", my favorite, and to top it off they released the live concert on CD. So.. I think I am going to walk down to the live version of Crash.. since it was when Dan proposed..
  16. Here are my "must haves" Brown Eyed girl- Requested by my sis and ma Margaritaville- Jimmy Buffet (of course) Shout! Sweet Caroline- Neil Diamond (our "friends" theme song) Runaround Sue- It's just a fun oldie The lion sleeps tonight- for my Uncle God only knows- The Beach Boys Red, Red Wine- UB40 I can't help myself ("Sugar pie honey bunch") That's all for now. I have so many favorites, it is hard for me to choose. I have to throw in some newer songs, but I have too many to pick from right now.. I will updated as I get closer to the DW.
  17. My FI's brother and his wife had private lessons, but they were in LA (and she used to be a dancer), so I am sure they were not cheap. Around here you can get 6 sessions for about $75 a couple, and I think it covers the basics. I don't know what we are going to do. We were going to get dance lessons, but I don't think they would do much for my FI, lol. Good luck on your findings.
  18. Alright, I don't know if my FI will be down with making out with his family watching, so when do we ttd? I am a little confused on this. I think it's a great idea.. super hot, but could someone give me a run down. I'm a virgin ttd .
  19. What a great idea!! Those pictures are better, than any posed ones! Candid is the best!!!! I wonder if I can do that in mine??
  20. Super cute.. What is the shipping on those suckers I was thinking of going with bottles, but I was afraid they'd be expensive to ship.
  21. We have all of our information on the back. My FI's brother is in film school, and is very talented. He designed these and wrote the information on the back.
