    Newbie here

    Welcome! Where in the DR?
  2. we found out that we can charter a boat, but that would only give us one more hour. So now we're trying to find out if we can buy out the afternoon day tour so we can have our wedding start earlier in the afternoon. I'm hopping she says yes. I don't see why they wouldn't. It's guaranteed money for them, and no afternoon tour people to worry about.... cross your fingers!!
  3. She looks really great in all of those dresses!!!

    Hi There!

Hi and welcome! I'm sure you'll find some good info here
  5. I totally know your pain!!! Those were our two choices as well. Mexico or DR. It's a tough choice that's for sure. In the end we ended up choosing Puerto Vallarta Mexico. Our few main reasons were that Mexico is kind of "our" vacation location, we love the Mexican culture and people, and the secenry in PV is amazing. The mountains, ocean, and palm tree combination is so beautiful. Not to say that DR is not beautiful because everytime I see a picture of the ocean there I want to get there NOW! It's so stunning! What are your most important things in a location?
  6. Thanks girls. We're contemplating switching our wedding date. Thinking about April.... but 2008 or 2009 would be the next big ? 2008 seems so soon, but 2009 is SOOO far away.

  12. we're doing drinks before the ceremony. we want our guests nice and relaxed - and if that means a margarita or beer, i'm all for it. Plus i'll be having one before so why shouldn't they?
  13. you look so great in that dress!! and what a great deal nice work!
  14. That is the sweetest story! What a great way to remember your parents.
  15. Thanks Ann Lindsay, what time did your wedding start? Your pictures are how I'm imagining our lighting. But maybe that's hopefully thinking. Also, what time does the morning boat go over?
  16. hi girls. this is totally off topic from the current discussion, so I appologize in advance. I'm FREAKING out about our wedding. If you've read the ceremony starts at 615 sun sets at 623 thread you have an idea. But the more I think about this the more I flip. I'm checking into chartering a boat so we could start the stuff early. IF that doesn't happen FI and families will go early. So we'll get fam pictures in daylight. However, the ENTIRE wedding ceremony will take place at dusk!!!!!!!!!! then the dinner and reception and going to be super dark. Now i"m worried that i'm going to spend a chunk of change on a photog and all our pictures will be in the dark! i'm really stressed about this. first off i'd really rather not see joe before the wedding, and i want to be able to see Joe when we say our vows. Not to mention why would i hire a photog to take pictures that probably won't be great since it will be dark out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ugh, i'm very extremely stressed
  17. are you hosting it through BDW? the photo hosting is down for now. you could try Free Image Hosting at AllYouCanUpload.com

Some people are against that. Your pictures won't be totally dark and will still be beautiful either way. I mean, a beach wedding is always going to photograph well, right? It's too bad they can't move it up though....wonder why? They moved a wedding up for a girl who got married at Las Caletas the day before me. Since the President was in town and the marina was super busy for the Navy anniversary, they were going to lock down the marina at the time her boat was supposed to leave, so they changed the time (on a week's notice - imagine contacting all your guests to tell them that 1 week prior) and the wedding started a few hours earlier. I guess that was because there was no other choice and they couldn't cancel on her? thanks leigh. That was exactly the kind of info we needed. They said they couldn't move it up earlier because the boats are out doing tours. So now i'm looking into chartering our own boat. If that doesn't work we're going to bring our families over early. I'd rather not see Joe before the wedding but in this case I'd rather see him and have some pics with our families while its still light out.

    Hello!

welcome! there are so many jamaica brides now! Let us know if we can help you at all!
  20. I feel ya sister. Joe goes in spurts of being involved. We're currently in the phase where he doesn't do anything. It's frustrating. It's like they think once you have a date that everything is done! Then i remind FI that there is more work to do and usually he pick up the pace a bit. Have you talked to FI about trying to pitch in more?
  21. aww so nice! i love your dress! what a perfect way to kick off all the wedding stuff
