  1. Ok.....since nothing else has worked, I've just joined too! If this can't help me, nothing can!

I thought I was going to have this issue since I wasn't sure how old my cousin was. I learned that the resort is very strict about not allowing under 18 year olds into the resort, so I don't know if you'd be able to get around it, unfortunately.....
  3. I've heard of both of those studios and I actually talked to Michael Maurus' wife (who works with Michael) when I was deciding who to pick. I'm afraid I can't remember the reason why I chose to forgo those photographers. (Petra Maurus was extremely nice and responsive). I think it was because I was able to go w/ Claudia Rodriguez for a price that worked in our budget and she had more positive reviews than did either of those studios. But if you do go w/ them, then maybe they will get more press on here.

  7. Thanks so much, Tammy! Without this site, I'd be totally clueless! I feel so much more confident going into my wedding - I spread the word about this site to every newly engaged girl I know!
  8. I just received an email from one of the EDR ministers for our symbolic ceremony. For those of you who are just going to go w/ the program they have (or if you want to see if you want to change anything from this program), here's the basic format: Hello Jennifer: This is the basic format of the ceremony. The ceremony lasts about 12-15 minutes. if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! Looking forward to your ceremony, Best regards and blessings, Alina Monroy Wedding Minister MARRIAGE CELEBRATION: GATHERING WORDS OPENING PRAYER REFLECTION ABOUT MARRIAGE AND LOVE CHARGE TO THE COUPLE SCRIPTURE OR POEM READING DECLARATION OF CONSENT EXCHANGE OF VOWS (STANDARD OR OWN VOWS) PRESENTATION AND EXCHANGE OF RINGS FINAL BLESSING OR PRAYER PRONOUNCEMENT OF HUSBAND AND WIFE - KISS INTRODUCTION OF COUPLE AS HUSBAND AND WIFE

I haven't actually gotten the items yet.....it took me this long just to get a list together from other threads that I read. However, a lot of posters have been directing us to get the individual packets from Minimus.com. They do seem to have a lot of really cool, travel-sized items at reasonable prices. I do like your hangover packet idea! I may have to add that to my list! Thanks! And believe me, if we had as big a group as you're having, we wouldn't be giving the gift certs. We are just have 25 guests!

Another question I had is, is the size of EDR. I originally plannned to have my wedding at Secrets Capri, but they don't have any 1 bdm suites available for my date, EDR is considerably larger, will the resort be that crowded in Nov and will all the restaurants be open? Finally, is anyone working with Monica and have you had any problems with her? For some reason I don't think we are meshing. Sorry it is so long, I figured I would throw all my questions out there! Hi there - I have been working w/ Monica for the past several months and while sometimes you might need to clarify things w/ her, she's been just fine for me. What kind of issues are you having w/ her? I'm getting married at EDR in April, so I might be able to help you w/ some questions, too (as can all of the other EDR brides).

Everything I'm thinking of seems to be too girly..... thanks There is another thread about this topic somewhere, but one of our possible "manly" items for our bags will be cigars. I do remember that some people created "man whore" bags that included stuff like condoms and funny stuff like that. Also, small bottles of tequila or beer if your resort isn't an AI might be an idea......
  13. Welcome to the forum! You will find tons of helpful wedding planning information and information about EDR here! I'm getting married there in April and so far, everything has been going well! We have some EDR brides who will be getting married there very soon!
  14. Mine has been taking care of absolutely everything in the travel area. Some of my guests have had to change their rooms or flights or even where they were leaving from and she's handling everything. She even acts as a mediator w/ the resort. Having her has made my life so much easier!
  15. I love those!!! And I think they're totally appropriate! They look professionally done, yet the fact that you did them makes them even more personalized to your wedding. I say, go with them...but then again, I have caved into my family's wishes on certain things......ugh.......but still! Your STDs are great!

Well, we were thinking about spending a bit more than the average OOT bag, so we are skimping in other ways (e.g., not having a private dinner reception after the ceremony - we'll have the "free dinner" and then a private event (that costs a lot less per person afterwards). This OOT bag amount was included in our overall budget. We had invited 50 or 60 guests (hoping we'd have less than 40) and now that 24 are going, we figure we can spend more on the bags. But YES! IT does add up quickly! I just learned today that my photo package that I had purchased only covered 5 hours and I need my photographer for an additional hour.....so, I had to pay more for that extra hour.....

  18. Do you just call up a jeweler and take a ring in to get engraved and they do it while you wait? Or do you send it somewhere? Is it expensive to have them engraved?
  19. We wanted to get our guests some kind of nice keepsake to include in their OOT bags, but we then thought that everyone has a different taste and some people might not want more knick knacks in their houses after they return! So, we are planning on including an EDR gift certificate in each bag - this will allow them to use it toward the resort or spa services (maybe a candlelight dinner on the beach) or even Lomas Travel excursions to go deep sea fishing or swim with the dolphins. Hopefully they will like something like that - I know I would if I was a guest at one of these!
  20. Just so I can be prepare ahead of time.....for those of you who have gotten married at EDR (or for those of you who are just "in the know"), should I expect any type of hidden or surprise fees that are outside of things that I've booked?
  21. Good question! I was thinking about just the same thing recently! We have to get a day pass for our photographers and for four guests who will be staying in different hotels....
  22. This was one of my first eye-opening wedding planning shockers. I thought that people would think, "wherever you want to go is ok w/ me. If we can't 'swing it, then we'll have to celebrate w/ you another time or another way." Ha! That didn't happen - everyone had an opinion. Then, when we changed the destination to the place that seemed to accommodate everyone the best, many of the people who said they would go, now aren't..... So you really should just choose the place you want to go to the most and then go w/ it. And ignore any possible negative comments along the way. Everyone has had a chance to do their own weddings their own way. This is your chance.
  23. I'm having them play at our Welcome Reception - I'd also like to just have quieter music play during the dinner.....
