  1. Ahhhh! Sarah, you are too good! I am bummed cuz I have to run out the door, but I took a quick peek at your first dance - so sweet & beautiful!!!
  2. Gosh, I feel like somebody was going to do these...but it was a long time ago. A few of us recently married gals went thru a huge DIY boost of energy for a few weeks early on in our planning (Sarah/AQHARIDER is the only one that actually kept her momentum!)- and that was a topic of discussion. I think they are really cute. Would you use them for reception decor?
  3. MAC doesn't generally do a "free trial" - you have to commit to purchasing a minimum of $40 worth of product.
  4. Why don't you try calling? I believe my contact there was named Mona... Here's the phone # for the Beach location (624) 143-9773
  5. Courtney - here's an excerpt from my review - it should address your question: Suzanne Morel Skin & Hair Salon – A+ Suzanne is absolutely lovely, classy and on top of her stuff. I highly recommend her services. I went in for a hair & makeup trial on Thursday. Her salon is in the Pedregal community, which is interesting to get to if you don’t know where you are going. I had to ask a few people how to get there, but it all worked out. I called her when I arrived at the security gate, and she sent her concierge down to meet me & show me the way to the salon. My stylist was Deanna, and she is an absolute perfectionist. She definitely knows what she is doing. She did not speak English, but that was fine because I speak Spanish. However, even if you don’t speak Spanish, it doesn’t matter, because the concierge is there for translation. She did my hair first, and while it looked good, it lacked that “oomph” that a bride should have according to Suzanne. This is probably because I have such fine hair. Suzanne pulled out a hair piece to bulk up my do, and it totally worked. Makeup went perfect, no complaints at all. Before I left they did a re-do on my hair so that it wouldn’t look like the day of hair…Suzanne did this herself and did a really cute style that I will definitely recreate for myself. The spa day was perfect – without exception. The day of went perfect as well. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this vendor. USE THEM! They work magic.
  6. Oh my gosh, the beaches are so pristine & go on for miles in that area. You can feel like you are the only one's in the world when you are there...

I paid what was listed on their website, with the exception of a 15% discount on the mani/pedi spa party because I had 10 services.
  9. Here are my reccomendations: Puerta Vieja - excellent steaks, beautiful view of the arc, romantic & great prices Sunset Da Mona Lisa (close to above) La Panga Antigua in SJD - beautiful ambiance in the outdoor seating area, a little pricey. La Dolce in SJD is very yummy!
  10. Looks gorgeous dahling!! Yep - your eyes pop like crazy. Perfect!
  11. I love the colors & the design! Like some others suggested, I might reduce the font size so it doesn't go all the way to the bottom edge. Otherwise, I think they are gorgeous.
  12. I reserved like 2 months in advance. And, unfortuanately for me the only cc I have is a Discover card, which isn't accepted in Mexico - so I just used by bank Mastercard which provides no coverage. I did inquire though with Payless & they said that you generally have to pay the insurance anyway, regardless of what your credit card policy says. I think some other girls have worked around that.
  13. Hey Jenesis - we rented a car thru Payless for 16 days. I made the rereservation online. The base rate was $114 per week plus $19/day for the extra two days....then 10% tax, total estimated came to $292.60.. OK, so that's the good news...we had to pay the CDW insurance at $16/day or something. So, we ended up paying like $650 for a "Verna" which is basically a Nissan Sentra. So, $40 per day.
  14. Holy wow! I love how it's a $5K location fee - plus 10% tax on that too! It is a beautiful place, but wow!
  15. Heidi - bummer that you are going through this - hugs to you! I'm going to throw out a suggestion that I haven't seen yet: Have you considered doing something at a smaller non AI resort? That's what we did, and while we really would have liked everybody to stay there with us, we realized that wasn't realistic (no matter where we had it). So, our agreement with the Cabo Surf involved a $4K deposit to save our date and no room commitment. The $4K went toward our rooms and our reception food & beverages. I actually ended up having like an $800 credit after all was said & done. I realize money is an issue here, but if you found a place where you could make a similar arrangement, you would be assured all of your money put down would go toward your event or you would get it back. Then peopel would be on their own in terms of where to stay. Just a thought.
  16. I think your friend should look at this wedding as a cultural experience for her mother. I mean, c'mon - what's the big deal? She doesn't have to look? And, it's not a sexualized thing, it's just a Euro thing. But if she absolutely can't deal with it then the DR may not be for her...
  17. Damn girl - you're smokin'! The make up is fantastic, the hair too - and I love all the sultry expressions you've got going on. Definitely love the 2 in the bride tank. Thanks for sharing!
  18. Thanks Edyta! Those are great. You go Tammy with your baby bump, sporting the bikini - I love it! You look wonderful
  19. I think the kissing ball idea is cool, but not for your bouquet! You must have flowers! How heavy are those things anyway?

If you're truly concerned about wasting champagne, then you may want to go with a cheaper sparkling wine as opposed to a champagne that's "quality." That way, if there's a lot extra leftover you won't feel as guilty. -V- PS. Christa, thanks for the link and suggestions! Hehehe, that's what we did the next day! But Tammy's not a big drinker...we need to give you some lessons girl!
  21. Welcome Heather! It sounds like you are extremely on top of your situation already, which is excellent! Have you checked out the postings in this area of the forum http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/f5/ ?
