Couples Swept away- Warning

So we went from the Riu where we had a huge wonderful suite to couples swept away in negril for our honeymoon

when booking i told hte TA no expense was to be spared i wanted the best for the honeymoon.

Well I burst into tears when I entered my room - which i was told was the best the resort had to offer

EWWWW

it was tiny

the bathroom was old, small the tub was tiny there was mold

the veranda had moldy cushions, the whole resort was kinda grimy

The hotel manager told me it was rustic - ok if dirt is rustic then ok

 

The food was quite good and the service was good.

also the turn down service at night was nice as towels got changed again and they put ice in the ice bucket

 

I was just REALLY disapointed in the room, it was more 3 star too me.

 

but the resort did grow on me as each resterant served you not like in the bigger resorts where it is larger more buffets. adn the drinks were good, lots of premium selections available

 

Just be prepared it is not what the books nmake it out to be.

This worries me......i was considering doing a Couples Ocho Rios honeymoon. I wonder if most of their chains are like that.

Is it possible that it was the only room they had available at the time and that is why they said it was the "best" room? It really sucks that you didn't get the room you wanted. But it sounds like you still had a great honeymoon, which is always a plus!

Was the room in the Atrium section which is the older section?

Bummer - I'll admit I'm a total room snob so I know what you must've been feeling. Sucks that this happened on your honeymoon

I'm glad you are able to look on the bright side ... but I can totally understand and would have probably been in tears too. But then I would have had a stiff cocktail and forgotten about everything but having just married the man of my dreams.
