Are Favors And/or Oot Bags Must Do?

Recommended Posts

We are going to do OOT bags and are expecting between 40-50 people, but I am only getting one bag per couple/room and not each individual. Each bag will have 2 tumblers so everyone will get one of those, but as for the other stuff only one per bag like a lanyard, think we are going to burn a Bob Marley CD since we are getting married in Jamaica. Also going to throw in some disposable shot glasses as there are liquor dispensors in the rooms, and maybe a cheapie dollar store inflatable raft. Overall so far these will only cost me $7 a bag including the bag itself! I will probably throw in some of the other stuff too like Tylenol packet and some snacks. But definitely planning to keep it between $10-$15 a bag.

I am not doing any favors other than this. I don't think you need to do anything really, but it is a nice gesture. And an excursion would be just as nice as a little bag of stuff!

We are opting out of OOT bags, but we will be doing tumblers for everyone. Although I love the idea of the OOT bag, with over 80 guests attending, I just can't justify spending so much on stuff that people already are packing and/or won't use.

Also, we are still undecided on what to do for favours, I just don't want to do something that people will just toss in their junk drawer once home...so I am leaning towards some sort of sweet treat...

  • 3 weeks later...

I bought mesh beach bags from target last week at $3 a pop. (Bought 50 bags). I will put small spf and aloe, tylenol, advil, wlecome letter, itinerary, lanyard with pouch for key/$, and pepto. I will also have raffia fans at the ceremony and have mini picture frames double as favors and place cards. My bags are going to look so empty so I need a filler. I really want to stuff them each with 2 towels but that adds up really quickly to like 1000 dollars. What can i stuff my bags with so they don't look empty??

Until I started planning my wedding I had no idea what an OOT bag was...so chances are your guests wont miss it! I think your favour idea is great!

I'm not sure if I will do favours or OOT bags yet until I find out how many people are going. I hoping not to bring too much stuff...extra luggage cost are high these days!

I've also been thinking that maybe I'll take everyone on an excursion in lieu of OOT or Favours, you get a discount when you have a large group. It will depend on the price and if I can find one that is right for everyone... I think memories are better than stuff. Any opinions???

Love this!!!

@@MontegoBayBridePA I'm assuming you're having 50 guests? What about tshirts?

Well possibly 100 guests not sure of definite head count yet. But only 1 bag per room. I would get 2 towels or something for each person though. Thanks for the Tshirt idea! I'm trying to figure out how I would carry 80-100 towels to Jamaica though...

@@Meandhim - The excursion idea is great and if I were a guest, I'd really enjoy that. I looked into the idea too (catamaran tour), but it's still pretty pricey. Not sure what we're doing yet but I do love the idea of the OOT bags and maracas. I also want to have a fun white party welcome party on the beach to thank everyone for coming and have some type of awesome factor (cigar roller, fire dancers or something). But we'll see! All of this definitely adds up quickly

@@tygrrlily I know what you mean by adding up quickly... Everything is still in limbo waiting on the amount of guests for me... On one hand I hope everyone can go but on the other hand I hope it's a smaller number so I can afford to do some cool things for them!

I love your idea of the welcome party with all the fun things! Where are you getting married?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
