RSVP Timeframe????

Recommended Posts

Is it okay to send the invites a month and a half after save the dates? I'm in school and I have been so preoccupied with it that time seems to be running out for me, and that seems like my best option. :(

yeah go for it.

I know that although family received their Save the Dates in the mail early, within the next month a lot of people were asking us more information on where, when, how they can book and costs. So they would probably appreciate it.

It is really important to have your RSVP's in as soon as possible. My resorts require final payment 30-45 days in advance and at this point you would have to have all your wedding details finalized. We also run into the problem when there are a lot of last minute additions, and we have to change the venue location because of capacities. 2 months is the longest I would suggest leaving an RSVP to come in. Plus, rates will become more expensive and you want to ensure that your room block is filled before the deposit/final payment deadlines!

Happy planning!!

Also, as I'm sure you've heard, be prepared to have to chase people down.  I NEVER expected so many people I thought had manners to flat out ignore the RSVP date.  We invited 147 and got RSVPs from less than half.

Did any of you ladies write in the guests names on the RSVP cards?

Oh man the RSVP dates are driving me nuts, Do you think that 5 months is too early to have people RSVP by? Like someone mentioned before, I want to have the details to finalize and pay the resort- plus I'm in school right now and will have a really big board exam to take in January, my wedding is in February, so I won't be able to do as much planning late in the game.

I've had the exact same problem! It is so rude!! At this point, if I haven't heard from them, I'm counting them as a no.

I think 5 months is a little too long. I have an RSVP date of march 31 and my wedding is June 24. We still have guests choosing this week. It's certainly cheaper to book earlier but due to various reasons we've had a few that couldt book til now. I still have quite a few tht haven't rsvpd and I agree it's rude. However, I'm just assuming if they haven't rsvpd or booked they aren't gong.

I'm sending out my invitations next month for an RSVP for MAY 18. My wedding is August, but the deadline for all money due is June 17. From reading the thread, I didn't expect I was going to have to chase people down but I guess I'm going to have to (it is rude!). When are you guys considering people they aren't going if you haven't heard from them or haven't booked? I have some people on the fence about going and March is almost over.

    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
    • My sister has done it but with the destination wedding, only super close family members and friends came since it was expensive and farther. It was great though.
