Ladies, my 2 cents on your body and dresses...

 

I tried on over 60 dresses before finding mine. I am utterly convinced that it's not all about weight. It's all about your body shape: boobies, waist, hips, height, proportions (emphasis on proportions), etc. My very first time shopping for a wedding dress, I saw a girl who was probably 300 lbs find an amazing dress! She seriously looked great. It was all about the cut and style of the dress working for her body. I also tried on dresses that looked better on me than the model! Trust me, I do not have a model body (I'm 5'3" and 135 lbs). But those dresses were obviously made in such a way that they better complimented my body than the model's body.

 

So ladies, you go ahead and loose weight if you are concerned about your health. But please don't make the mistake of thinking that you need to do it to look good in a wedding dress. Just like all each us, dresses come in a rainbow of shapes and styles. It's all about finding the right match for YOU. It's the same as how each girl here had to go through different partners before finding the one that was is best match for the unique mix that makes her the person that she is.

You could change the neck line if you wanted, but I think it looks so nice on you already. Remember to try it on again with the shoes, jewelry and a veil if you plan on wearing one. Ah! I looooved this dress! Unfortunately, it looked a looot better on the model than me. It swallowed me up. Great choice though. It's a gorgeous dress, and I'm just glad someone is wearing it. Post pics at your fitting!

I completely agree!! I realised this when I went dress shopping for the first time last week! I went to the shop thinking 'Ill only get an idea today cause I need to lose weight' but when I tried the first dress on, it fitted like a glove and hugged my body perfectly.. I do want to lose weight but that is only because I am going to be in a bikini for 10 days for all my friends and family.. Not because of my dress xxx

Thank you everyone who gave their honest opinion about my dress!  I don't know why I was having such doubts but today I am going to make an appt to go try it on again and hopefully I will love it just as much as I did the day I ordered it.  As far as losing weight, I totally agree that noone should lose weight only because of their wedding day and because of their dress.  I have gained some weight over the past year and I want to lose it so I will be more comfortable with myself and happy with my body, not because of my dress.

Stay on that "soap box" because you made absolute perfect sense.  And for the bride that is having a hard time or otherwise choose not to loose weight, this is what they needed to hear. Let's raise a glass of red wine to health awareness!
