This is definitely good to know! There are only fancier (read: more expensive!) shops around here, but I live a few hours from the border, and am super budget conscious, so I have been thinking about going down to try it out. Thanks so much for helping to clear it up! I think as long as my expectations are at a good place, everything should be fine. So even though your dress was a final sale, they fixed it and reordered it after it had makeup on it?Did I get that right? As long as they are good with fixing a problem, I think it should be okay. Something to definitely keep in mind, anyway

oh yes, everything is final sale (mine wasn't on a super-special clearance or anything). david's will sell you what's on the rack, but it likely has been tried on previously, so I asked that they order one. that's why it was so strange when the first one I ordered came in with makeup on it. they kept swearing it was the woman who pressed it, but it didn't look like her colors. ; ) the dress was tighter than the try-on sample, so I know it hadn't been tried on much before. it was an odd situation, but they definitely made it right. I would have had issues if I was short on time, but I got it a year in advance. hee. : ) I don't know if I'd trust them with alterations, but I was happy to get the dress (and veil and shoes) and go. ; )

Maybe I just had a bad experience(es) but I've been to 3 David's Bridals in PA and they just have horrible customer service. I made an appointment at the one and the girl didn't even show up for my appointment so another girl was helping me and had no idea what she was doing. She couldn't even find clips for the dress because the one I tried on was huge. When I finally decided to order it, she didn't even take my measurements, she just asked what size I wanted. Needless to say, the one I ordered is wayy to big and they won't let me exchange it since it's past 90 days which makes no sense because it took so many weeks to actually receive it so that 90 days should be from the date you receive it, not the date you order it. I tried talking to two other locations and they were unhelpful and rude as well. I even asked if I could exchange it for bridesmaids dresses and they wouldn't let me because they only exchange bridal for bridal. They all have their own return policies, which is normally all sales final so just be sure it is the dress you want and the correct size when you order it. Best of luck : )

Hi ladies! I purchased my dress from Davids Bridal, as well as a friend of mine. Both dresses turned out beautiful when arrived without any complications. I will suggest making an appointment on a week night NOT a weekend. It's slower in the store and makes for a less hectic shopping experience. I go for alterations next week, so I will let ya know how that goes. But so far... I can recommend DB's -especially for the budget minded. It is my second wedding and on the beach and I found exactly what I wanted for exactly what I wanted to spend. If anything, they do have all styles to try if you are not sure what you like :D It's a good place to start....

Kristen, I have to agree with the other brides. Your dress fits you really well. I really don't think you need to lose 20 lbs, you look great!  I bought my dress in March before we had set our date and I too have had some doubts when I see other dresses on here. But then I tried it on again and remembered why it felt right when I tried it on for the first time. I had tried on lots of dresses before I found it! You could change the neck line if you wanted, but I think it looks so nice on you already. Remember to try it on again with the shoes, jewelry and a veil if you plan on wearing one. Then you will see the full affect!

Thanks again! :)

Hi Peach,

I am Canadian also and I actually bought my dress at David's Bridal in Vegas back in March. I booked an appointment before we went for a holiday...I honestly thought I would just look as I heard they had a great selection. I had tried on over 20 dresses here....and everything I loved was over 1000$ which was way over my budget. The dress I bought is satin with floral appliques and petals and fit right when I tried it on. They had my size, cleaned it and steam pressed it for me. The girl helping me was amazing! It was a Saturday, they were busy but when she started an appointment with another bride, one of the managers kept an eye on me. I had been in nicer shops here at home but I didn't always get the help or selection that I got from my sales associate. I guess because David's is a larger company, service may not be consistent. Here is my dress. I may get it made into a sweetheart neck line. Any thoughts ladies?wedding dress.JPG

I absolutely love it and cannot wait to wear it again!

Bridal Bargains by Denise and Alan Fields (aka my wedding planning bible) rated David's Bridal an F for bad customer service. But I agree that it's hard to avoid them. They have the best prices and selection, even if their customer service is bad and their quality is questionable. I ended up getting my bridesmaid dresses there. I hate to patronize someplace with bad customer service, but I have to admit that I loved my bridesmaid dresses!

Absolute honest truth...

I always think that a sweetheart neckline is more flattering. Keeping with the style of the dress, I REALLY love that look when there's a gathering around the waist that comes together at the hip. It sort of reminds me of a sarong, which I like for a DW. When I tried on dresses like that, I always felt kind of sexy (and I would not describe myself as a sexy girl, more of a classic J.Crew kind of girl).

As for loosing 20 lbs, I'm not sure where it will come from unless you plan on amputating a limb! Look at how tiny your waist looks in this dress!

HOWEVER... no bride should have doubts about her looks on her wedding day. If you're not happy with the dress, sell it and buy yourself something else!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
