High Heel Shoes and Beach Weddings?

Recommended Posts

I can honestly say depending on the beach you are getting married on, you can wear high heels. I wore 3 1/2 heels, all my bridsmaids wore heels (one wedges) and none of us sunk into the sand. Please keep in mind the resort where I got married grooms the sand daily and it was quite hard packed. I am sure if I had applied all my weight onto my heels I may have sunk a little, but I really didn't have any issues!

I say get the shoes you love and enjoy!

I am worried about wearing sandals on the beach because sometimes when you walk it will flick sand up at your back, or in my case, at my dress!  So I was going to get married barefoot, but I would like to wear sandals/wedges to my reception.  So do I get my dress hemmed for the heels and let it drag when I walk down the aisle?  I'm not sure how to handle that...

Hi,

My plan is to be barefoot (maybe some feet jewels) on the beach, and then to wear heels for the first dance and reception. I used to work at a bridal salon and am wearing a ball gown so for the beach I will just put a tulle skirt underneath which will raise the skirt up enough to be barefoot and then when I take that out from under my dress the dress will fall long enough to wear heels and look right.

Check out my heels, they just arrived today!!! photo.JPG

I also am going to wear a low sandal...I was going to go barefoot but a read on here somewhere a couple of times, comments from ladies who set out to go barefoot but only lasted about 3 or 4 minutes cause the sand was too hot to stand in!  That may depend on your location and time of day though.

I wore a low heel sandal with some sparkles on it.  The heel was rather wide so I didn't sink too much.  Looking back, I would have worn a pretty flip flop and changed before the reception since my shoes were full of sand and I had to go to the restroom to clean my feet off before our first dance :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
