So syenfn1218, I had my planning meeting today with Juana.  She is nice, but clearly she is new.  She had to put me on hold at least 5 times to answer questions I had.  But, with just about everything she did not know, she was able to find out most of the information.  She did follow up with an email shortly with information that I requested.  They are still confirming my locations which I requested all the way back in October, so I am pretty adament that I get the locations I requested because I defintiely put in my request in ample time.  And because I wanted a gazebo wedding, I switched my wedding from Cancun Palace to Moon Palace just so I can have that, so its not going to be pretty if they tell me otherwise hissyfit.gif

I did learn some things that may be useful, so here goes:

1.  I asked about the restaurants, so attached is a high level menu of all the restaurants.

2.  Basically, I have about 42 or so guests, so any private event is going to cost me $1000.  That basically covers appetizers and open bar.  No decor.  I have 61 room nights.  If I got to the 75, then all of that would be free.

3.  For the cocktail hour, table tops would be provided, but if I wanted any seating, then I would need to purchase through Zuniga

4.  I'm getting married in June, so the Colin Cowie collections were supposed to be available, but they can't promise it so now I need to use Zuniga to design the reception.

5.  Resort credit cannot be used towards videography or photography.

6.  I had a friend that was flying in to DJ for us.  So, I was asking for speaker and system rental and they told me I would basically have to pay for the DJ totally to get access to the equipment.  So, doesnt make sense for me to fly the DJ out and pay him, and still have to pay the total fee for the DJ.

7.  For included bouquet, you can get a combination of lillies and roses in either pink, white, ivory, red, or yellow.

8.  The cake flavor options are as follows:  Vanilla, strawberry, fruit, marble, carrot cake, cheesecake, or lemon.  If ordering a tiered cake, you can mix the tiers.

9.  The Marachi band is $550 and the Mexican Trio is $461.

10.  If you want them to put anything on the chairs for the ceremony (i.e. fans, programs), they charge a $7 per chair fee.

11.  For the ceremony, they will provide a microphone and speakers

12.  For the cocktail hour, they are allowing me to create a signature drink to be served there, and will do that when we are on site.

I'm still waiting on the script for the sybolic ceremony and the procedure for out of town bags.  So, I'll let you know if I find out any more information.  Hope this helps!

Ok, I think that is

Hi syefn1218-

I had Beatrice, but never got a chance to have a meeting with her.  I am now assigned Juana.  We have a meeting scheduled for 12:30pm today to go everything (I'm a little over 60 days out) , so I'll let you know if: 1) The meeting even happens 2) And what I think of Juana.  And I do believe that 6pm is a pretty popular time because people are trying to avoid the heat of the day (but mostly for summer weddings).  I originally had 6pm, but changed to 5pm at the photographers advice.  But, I just came from a Mexican wedding that started at 6pm and we were able to get some great daytime shots, but her sunset shots were amazing.  So, I think you might get the best of both worlds with your 6pm time.

There are definitely DJ Equipment packages available which do not include the DJ. There are 2 separate AV companies that Moon Palace will allow you to use. One is JSAV, the other is PSAV. They both have cheaper packages which include the equipment, but not the DJ. One of our guests is a wedding DJ and will be DJ'ing our wedding. You need to ask again or contact the AV companies directly. You most certainly do not have to use or pay for their DJ.

Awesome...thanks so much for the information.  I will certainly ask that questions again because it certainly was unbelievable.  I'll see if I can find the package information for both PSAV and JSAV so I can see what they offer.  I just got to find the contact information for them.  Thanks so much.  And yes, MsHarryWinston, $7 per chair.  But, she did say I can have a relative or someone come by before the ceremony and place the items on the chair ourselves.

We got an ocean front room so concierge is the next level up. Our guests are booked at sunrise and I thinkI saw someplace that concierge rooms are only on Nizuc. Im okay with that though.

Ok cool- I think we just have garden view- so I suppose we'll be getting ocean view.  That is fine with me! I don't plan on being in the room except to sleep and other things, hehe!

Yay Coco! I'm so excited for you! I feel the same way with the room nights! I don't think we are doing anything besides the rehearsal dinner, cocktail hour and reception on the wedding day.  I can't decide if I want a private rehearsal dinner or not, because I'm afraid it will feel like a wedding reception but without the music and dancing.  What are you doing for your rehersal and where are you having it?  How many people do you have again?  Right now we have 45 people booked plus us.  But November is a long way away! I expect to have between 40-50.

My TA told me that FunJet will not refund our money until after our trip thatswck.gif. Oh well, I guess we'll have an abundance of money after the wedding! hehe!

Hi Emma, I was told by Beatriz I could have the Colin cowrie collection metallic sands for the decor of my wedding reception. I had booked the diamond package for ceremony. I have famous for the table, I have confetti boxes with poem and order of the day to display in the gazebo for ceremony. I have bought silver petals from eBay to decorate gazebo aisle. I have had menus printed for wedding reception dinner. I have had a table plan drawn up to make it feel like a wedding. I have a violinist for wedding ceremony with a firework display. I have hired package 1 from PSAv for music for wedding reception. I have booked the mariachi band for wedding reception. This is $580, but I think definitely worth it. I have had personalised tshirts made to go in Oot bags with room key holders. I have a guest book and pen for cake table. I have diamante cake toppers for cake. Also a ring cushion. I am giving out my Oot bags before we go. Can't afford to take these. I have 3 kids who all have 20 kegs each. Which we paid extra for. I am packing all these extras into their cases. Need any info. Let me know. Natalie

That is correct.  The Concierge level rooms are ONLY available in the Nizuc section of Moon Palace.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
