Yeah, it doesn't sound nice. Find Anny's pictures and show them examples. Once you see it it's beautiful!

According to one of my best friends that is a wedding planner, aqua and red together are the new black! Of course black in a wedding may not be good, but ya know what I mean!

Thanks for all your responses. I showed my mom pictures, but she still doesn't care for it.. whatever. I'm sticking with it!

I like the use of fun and vibrant colors for DW weddings especially since the theme is usually 'fun, vacation, stimulating'. Definitely get some samples to put together for your own visual sake and show the nay sayers so they get the vibe you're going for. But again, it's your wedding, do what you want to do (and your FI of course).

We used those colors for our wedding and I loved it!!! I can send you some pics if you want to see what we did. It was such a fun color combo and perfect for Mexico.

Fantastic! It's been a hot color combo for weddings lately...it seems like pink and brown or baby blue and brown have been for the non-destination weddings.

I say you choose whatever your heart desires. Some people might not get it, but oh well. It will surprise them even more when they see how lovely it turns out the day of the wedding.

It's hard telling people my wedding colors because it doesn't really make sense until you see it all together. And that's the only time when it matters right?

Tourquoise and orange are great together as well...just in case you were open to appease. But then again, if they don't like it with red, they probably won't like it with orange.

Maybe I'm partial bc they are my colors but I love them!

I think they scream Mexico. We are adding a little yellow accent too w our invites.

I think it's a beautiful yet uncommon combination. I thinks that's the reason for hesitation from your mom and soon to be in- law. I'd suggest showing the two together as well as finding pics from other weddings. Nicole's (NHPT) wedding at Dreams featured those color combinations.

                I vote GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love it! Also, Martha Stewart's wedding magazine had an aqua/red theme thing in one of their magazines last year. See if you can track it down - I remember a cool invitation and cake.
