Motivating Fiancé to find something to wear

Recommended Posts

Yep, i feel your pain!!!!!

We went shopping last week to find suit for OH, he wants suit trousers and waistcoat, no jacket, and possibly a coloured shirt..... hmmm not sure about that myself. anyway, we went all around the shops, department stores, etc, no-where has suits with a waiscoat this time of year, and i couldn´t even tie him down to a colour! I can´t sort out my daughters dress until he decides if he´s wearing a coloured shirt or not, cos i´d quite like us all to match!

Now he´s saying he´s going to wait til he flies back to the uk for a wedding in NOVEMBER, to buy the whole lot..... we get married in january. NO WAY; NOT HAPPENING!!!!!!!!!!!

see I don't have that problem - my FI LOVES shopping . . .I on the other hand am the type where I go in, get what I want and leave LOL we are complete opposites but I will say when it comes to the wedding he thinks that we have tons of time and everything can wait. I understand I still have 14 months but time has been flying, just yesterday I realized that we have been engaged for almost 7 months already and it just seemed like yesterday!

I'm hoping after I get my dress this fall that he will be motivated enough to get his outfit with his groomsmen.

I think men don't want to do it because we are telling them or should I say "asking" them. We need to make it out like it was their idea to go shopping and than maybe just maybe they will go with it lol

My FI really didn't have a choice in the matter, I told him what he was wearing (however, I'm totally all for being barefoot, my dress is very formal but I can't imagine wearing shoes on the beach). I went out found it, showed him a picture and said here you go this is what you will be wearing and I took his measurements and got things ordered. If I left it up to him he would wait until a week before and go find something so I took things into my own hands. If I were you I would just go out and buy a couple of different pants bring them home and say try these on and see how it looks.

I showed my FI this thread earlier in the week and tonight I can say he has 3 different pair of linen pants and a linen shirt, still looking for at least one maybe 2 more (for the ttd day). Thanks again BDW sisters!! Now on to the shoes.

Don't stress it! I know it's so hard as females but I had a similar issue. For months, I kept asking FI to look into what he was going to wear. I told him to at least shop around and see what's out there so he doesn't have to scramble in the end. Well he finally took care of his suit 1-2 months before and just got the other stuff( shoes, shirts, tie) this week- one week before the wedding.

It will all come together. For some reason it didn't all hit FI until we got 3-4 months out.

Thanks girls.

I've kind of come to the realization that I can't make him do anything. He knows our colour and we don't even HAVE a best man yet, so there's not point in rushing him so that the best man can match. They'll just do it all at the same time.

But it's nice to hear that I'm not the only one having these frustrations. :)

oh honey...we were in the same boat!!! i don't know what everyone else said BUT my FI was the same way for a while and then i finally just took him out and MADE him go shopping!! i ended up getting what i wanted (a suit with a jacket) and let him believe that he picked it on his own (does that make sense??) i'm sure he'll look amazing in the end wink.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
