Michelle May 2012 Location Unknown - suggestions?

My fiance and I got engaged in March and we're looking to get married in May 2012 but we're overwhelmed with choices. We would like to select an all inclusive that is relatively a short flight from NY - since this is where most of my guests will be coming from - and relatively inexpensive...not too cheap but middle of the road. I don't want people to have to spend thousands upon thousands to come to our wedding. Please make suggestions!!!! Thanks

Thanks for the reply Maggie...I'm excited to see someone replied to my post (lol). I've never used a forum before so I'm still trying to get the hang of things...I'm so overwhelmed with choices it's out of control! Have a great day!

Congrats and welcome to the forum!! We are getting married at an AI in the Turks & Caicos and it's only a 2 and a half hr flight from NY :) I think flights to the Bahamas, Jamaica, Mexico and Dominican Republic would all be fairly short as well, and there are AI resorts at each location as well. I know selecting the resort can be overwhelming....I did months of research on my own before I made a decison (and I hadn't found this site yet either). But I think there are a couple of ways to make it a little easier on yourself. 1) Go to the wedding review section of this forum and read reviews from brides...most reviews include pics as well. 2) Use a travel agent to book your wedding and they will be able to help you make a decision as well. The TA's from this site (click on the link at the top of the page to find one) specialize in destination weddings and have tons and tons of info and can help you decide as well. Good luck picking your location and happy planning!!

Hi, Michelle --

If you're looking for an All-Inclusive resort that is lush and fabulous, without the cost being out of control, perhaps check out Sandals Grande Ocho Rios in Jamaica? That is where I just got married in May, and even the most frugal of my guests enjoyed fantastic accomodations! But this is an adult-only resort, so if you're inviting children, you may have to research other options...

At any rate, CONGRATULATIONS on your engagement & WELCOME to BDW!!!

I think you will find that this site will become the single *most* important tool available to you during your wedding-planning process -- I KNOW it was for me!

Very best wishes as you're planning your way,

toward walking down the aisle on your Big Day!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
