So I was invited to a wedding and in the invite package there is an envelope with my name on it.
What the heck is that envelope for?
I can only assume it is for you to put money inside??
LOL that should tell you how often I get invited to weddings!

I don't think I've ever seen an envelope that had my name on it included with the invite. Usually the only envelope is the return envelope for the RSVP and that would have the bride's name on it. Now I'm curious too!!

Haha - had the exact same thing recently for my friends wedding.. I said to her what the hell is that for?

It is for money, she had a wishing well and we all put the wedding cards/money in that.

Was the invitation itself inside the envelope with your name on it? If so, the envelope with your name on it is the inner envelope. I think the idea of them is to keep the invitation in an envelope that's not all marked up for the postal service. If the invitation wasn't in this envelope I have no idea what it is...sorry!

lol umm I believe it would be a none too subtle request for money. That of course is just my opinion though. I would never have thought to do that with my invites though. :-)

If it's for the whole wishing well thing like Kerry posted above, maybe it's just me, but I think that's tacky. I understand that brides will have a card box/wishing well or whatever at the reception along with a table for gifts, and that's perfectly fine. But to actually give someone an envelope with the expectation that they give you money in it is just a little too much for me. JMO.

Lame. WTF? People actually send out envelopes now requesting money? I swear- I wouldn't gift shit if someone did that. So rude.

Diana ~ I would just ask the couple what it is for!

                  LMAO Kerry!

I'm so with you Heather... if it is for money that is just tacky. I got an invitation that included a card with a long poem that rambled on and on and it turned out they were just asking for money. I even thought that was in poor taste.

If the envelope is for money, I am shocked that someone would actually include that... Weird, definitely something I would never do!!
