Sunshine77,

You do know that you don't have to send a deposit.  Mayte will hold your day for you and you can take care of all your payments with her once you get down there.  We paid her on the day of our wedding!

Meg... you didn't send her any money in advance?  I know when I asked about the deposit, Mayte told me that she saved the day and I could send her whatever I wanted whenever I wanted... it really did sound like she didn't need a deposit to reserve the date... but I just wasn't sure...  almost sounds too good to be true...I get nervous about it because I'd hate to think I have the space reserved and then I don't....

BUT if you say that it worked for you then I guess it is true :-)

Good to know! Thanks Megs, I've emailed Mayte and am waiting to hear back about the dates available.

I sent her a deposit, just so it would calm my nerves :) but its not necessary.  This girl that is from where I'm from, is getting married in the DR a couple of days before us.. I told her about the jellyfish and she called them to see if she could get married there.. apparently Mayte already had the date reserved, she she touched base with the bride since she didn't receive a deposit, just to confirm.. needless to say the girl isn't getting married at the Jellyfish and Mayte follows up to confirm dates if ever needed.

Our wedding is on Nov 27, 2011 and we haven't placed a deposit yet. I keep changing my options so I've delayed the whole deposit process, but I'm sure Mayte doesn't care. She knows we are serious and wouldn't go through all this work for nothing. And we will eventually give her a deposit, but it just goes to show you that it's not a requirement like with our photographer!

Hey Ladies,

We have just decided to move our reception from the Majestic Colonial to the Jellyfish Restaurant. We are so excited due to all the good reviews we have read. Thanks for all your comments on this site and facebook! We will be married on December 2, 2011! Only 4 1/2 months to go! Can't wait!

Robyn

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
