  1. We had to re-order pants as well. We ordered custom made and asked for it really fast and put a date and had the pants in 8 days or something crazy like that. I would do the custom pants and re-order right away.
  2. We used Phil Steingard for our photographer! We also lucked out and had Jamie Dimitry join us for the day and he was amazing as well! I would highly recommend either of them!
  3. Here is a review of our wedding on December 2, 2011. If you can't open it just PM me with your email and I'll send it to you. I posted this same review on the Majestic Colonial Brides facebook group. Good luck planning ladies! You are in great hands! Robyn review.doc
  4. The suits definitely do not look or feel cheap. People are shocked to learn we only paid $99 for my husband's suit. The groomsman also loved them. It was a great purchase! The $99 linen held up pretty good. You can tell in the linen shirts that they are wrinkled a bit at the end of the day but that is to be expected of any linen shirt.
  5. MNtoMX - We Loved the fire dancers! I did as a surprise to my husband and guests and I am so glad I decided to book them. I was back and forth on it for about a month and decided to finally just do it as it only happens once. I think we ended up tipping $300 which was about 10% of all the actualy services(food, drink, decorations).
  6. Hi Ladies, You have to add 16% to all your food and drinks. The only things you do not need to add taxes to are the decorations/flowers/DJ's etc. The resort charges 26% because its 16% tax and 10% gratuity. Sherio9090 - If I can remember correctly I believe the mozza sticks came in 3 pieces. For a group of 30 adults we ordered mozza sticks, Breast Chicken Brochette, and butterfly shrimp for Appy's and had the $35 option for dinner. There was tons of food and it was delicious! Hope this helps! Robyn
  7. We had our ceremony at the MC and then went to the Jellyfish for our reception on Dec 2/11 and it was amazing! I haven't had a chance to get my review written but I plan on posting a review under the jellyfish thread next week. In total we only spent $3900 at the Jellyfish and that included transport(its $6 per person as they switched companies), cocktails, dinner, drinks(we just had an open bar for everyone), decorations, cake pickup(we just used the one we received from the Majestic and Mayte decorated it for us), flowers for the tables, and firedancers. It was by far the best decision we made to switch our reception here. All of our guests were so amazed and said it was the highlight of the trip. Feel free to PM me or email me if you have any questions. My email is [email protected] Robyn
  8. Hi Ladies, I just wanted to post and let everyone know that the suits we ordered look so good on our wedding day. Studiosuits was so quick when we ordered things and when we put our last order in we asked for it within 4 weeks and received it in 2! I highly recommend using them. Here are some pics!
  9. Mel2010- Glad to hear its not just me freaking out! I meet with her on Tuesday so I guess I'll just have to wait until then! My other half just keeps telling me to take a breath and chill! Wish I was a man so I could care less about things like this! I am sure everything will work out and our weddings will be beautiful! Good Luck with you wedding! Enjoy the sunshine!
  10. Has anyone heard from Mayte in the last couple of days? She usually emails me back on the same day but I haven't heard back from her and being 11 days from my wedding it is freaking me out a little! I was just hoping to get confirmation on a few things before I see her next week. I am so ready for this wedding planning thing to be over with! I am ready to just relax on the beach with a drink in my hand!
  11. We are doing our ceremony at the Majestic Colonial and then the reception at the Jellyfish. We had already planned our wedding at the Majestic and then we changed our reception to the Jellyfish just a few months before. We talked about switching everything over but in the end decided to leave our ceremony at the Majestic because we qualified for the free one and we are having a 4pm ceremony which allows everyone the whole day to do what they want at the resort. Our photographer also told us that he prefers to do the sunset pictures at the Majestic compared to the Jellyfish so that also helped in our decision. If I would have planned from the beginning I would have probably just done it all at the Jellyfish but I am happy with our decision. I think both places will be beautiful!
  12. We are staying at the Majestic Colonial and having our ceremony there. We have decided to go to the Jellyfish for cocktail hour, dinner, and the reception. I would suggest looking into the Jellyfish restaurant because after planning our weddding at the Colonial we changed our minds to the Jellyfish and they have been awesome to work with. My wedding is in 16 days and I know we have made the right decision! Good luck with your planning!
  13. I saw the video this morning as well and the wedding did look beautiful! Can't wait till she is back to share her review! I leave in 10 days and can't wait!!
  14. Haha this thread is great! Just made me feel a little better. After 6 years you would think the future in laws would remember my birthday. Well my MIL did and she emailed me to tell me she had sent a gift up for me. I felt so good until the gift arrived. I opened it to find a Pen and Pencil. Totally nothing special about them. I actually found them at Staples and they were $10! Way to make a girl feel special hey! A friend of mine says I should get my MIL's name engraved on them and regift them to her! At least then she will maybe realize that I put a little more effort into the gift then her!
  15. We chose to do the symbolic ceremony. For us it wasn't a big deal but we chose the symbolic because it was easier to plan everything and we didn't want to have to rely on when the Judge could do it. We leave for our wedding in the Domincan in 17 days and we actually did our legal paperwork at home in our living room in March. We did it so early because I had to renew my passport and didn't want it to be in my maiden name for the next 5 years! Only a select few people know that we have actually gotten "married" already as we didn't want to spoil it for everyone else. We have a good family friend that is going to be doing the ceremony which I can honestly say will mean more to us than if the judge did it and the wedding coordinator translated it. We were able to write our whole ceremony script and it is perfect. We are even doing up a piece of paper to sign at the ceremony so people won't even know the difference. I do not feel like I am married already and I am so excited to walk down the aisle(beach) and say I Do! I can promise you that it makes no difference in the end!
  16. Wow! I just received a email this morning saying my order is being shipped. We ordered it 6 days ago!! Let's hope it all fits well!
  17. Mel2010 - I am in the same position as you. I have all the little things left and that's what is stressing me out. I made a list and I have been trying to do at least one thing a day. My biggest stress is figuring out the bridesmaids gifts. I have no idea what to get them. I bought their dresses and I am thinking of getting them some barefoot jewelery and a personalized towel. Any other suggestions? I also booked DJ Mannia and did not pay $1000. Is that what he is going for now? That's crazy!
  18. I was told by my photographer that he went to a wedding at the Jellyfish where they hired the resort DJ. He said the party wasn't that great and he recommended spending the extra money on DJ Mannia. Others have said on here that the DJ was ok as long as you gave a pretty good list of songs you wanted played.
  19. I have 50 days until my wedding and we leave in 44 days! Yikes it is scary to think it is coming up so fast! I was just wondering what some of you other ladies are doing in your planning since I know some of you have weddings coming up fast. I have been working with Mayte to finalize our food options for the wedding and she has some pictures for the decoration. We are having our ceremony at the Majestic Colonial so I have most of that organized with the resort. Photographer is booked and I am sending him his payment this week, vacation is paid for, bags are being made by my bridesmaid for the OOT bags and I have bubba kegs, anti-bac gel, and face cloths so far to go in them, rings are bought, passports are renewed and ceremony script is being worked on. Things I know I have left to do are gifts for bridesmaids, gift for parents, purchase a sand ceremony kit, jewellery for myself to wear, make-up(wedding is a excuse to go shopping for myself!), and maybe some more things for the OOT bags. How is everyone else doing with their planning?
  20. We put in an order last night for 1 suit, 4 pants, and 4 shirts. Hopefully they all turn out good because due to one of the groomsmen having surgery this summer we needed to wait until his weight was more accurate. Only 6 week until we leave!!! Can't wait to see them!
  21. Great to hear about the fireshow! I was thinking of suprising everyone with it including my Fiancee. Thanks everyone for the suggestions on the appy's! I did hear back from Mayte and I think I will go with her suggestion of 3. Haven't decided which ones yet but definitely gives me a starting point! Can't believe its only 58 days away!!! Yikes!! I feel like I have so much to do still!
  22. Hi Ladies, I am in the process of finalizing my wedding plans. We are doing a cocktail hour with appies and I was wondering how many appies people usually plan for? We have 26 guests along with 3 small children. I was thinking maybe 3-4 appies per person? any suggestions? Thanks for any help!! Robyn
