Receipts for Customs?

Just an FYI if you are worried about bringing certain things with you, keep in mind in most large cities in Mexico there is a Walmart, Sams Club, Costco...etc. Just in case you don't want to buy all the little advil packets and such in the states.

Great point Jessica. I would just caution that it's hard to know what they carry at those stores in Mexico and they may carry advil, but not individual packets, or they may be a lot more expensive down there. I used the Costco in Cabo for snacks and bottled water to add to welcome bags.

Thanks girls. I thought about that but just didn't want to be running around when I get there to get all this done. I rather have everything so all I have to do is put the bags together. I was worried about the advil and such but hopefully everything will be ok!

Does anyone know about Jamaica?? I won't have a lot of people with me to split up the bags sad.gif Receipts? Never heard of that! I guess I will have to call TA or airline. Are you guys talking about your carry ons?? Are you putting your OOT stuff in them or your normal lugggage? CONFUSED

I was told by another Jamaican bride to bring receipts if you are bringing lots of wedding stuff to Jamaica. It doesn't matter if the luggage is checked or carry on Customs can ask for the receipts if you have lots of items. I think they want to make sure that you pay taxes on them if you are going to sell them in the country. I know that I was told by my TA that I could not send things to her via mail because it would get held up in Customs. I wanted to mail some of this junk and not have to take it all in suitcases. I know that it is expensive to mail stuff but I was going for convenience. Anyway now we have given some items to guests and we are taking 2 carry ons (and my dress) in addition to 4 suitcases. I put the receipts in a ziploc bag in my carry on. I don't have a receipt for everything, but I do have quite a few. I will let everyone know how it went when I get back.

For Mexico brides - I just got married in July, and the drugs and bandaids and stuff for my OOT bags did NOT count towards my total. I was told that even though they were in individual packets, they didn't count. I know a few other MP brides who were married in July and August were told the same thing!

For Jamaica brides - I feel like it should say something on the customs website if you have any kind of restriction! I'm sorry, I have no idea!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
