Does your FI/DH know how much you weigh?

The reason for my question:

FI is pretty thin - 34 waist - but he's very vain and feels flabby, we have been majorly slacking with the gym and he's telling me he won't get on a beach this year, and if something doesn't change our beach wedding isn't going to happen. He can be very dramatic at times stupid.gif

I am a size 10. I weigh alot for my 5'4 frame but I fit into the 10 or 29 inch waist in most clothes. Ideally I would like to lose 20 lbs before the wedding. I'd lost 30 right before I met FI, and I've kept off 20 of them. Again, slacking at the gym, and before I met him, I ate a lot of diet bars and shakes, and some salads, since I don't cook. I also had a time 10 years ago when I weighed over 200 lbs and lost 80 on Weigt Watchers. It's a struggle...I really don't want to go back there.

FI cooks a lot...like every night...and there's pasta, and rice, and steak and all sorts of yummy things...and we go out....and part of it is my fault for having no self control and eating way more than I should but that's another thread.

So yesterday he found out we are going to be invited to a pool party in August and he started freaking out (remember - drama king) that he looks horrible and we can't go unless we shape up now...blah blah blah....and then he said

WHEN I COME HOME WE'RE BOTH GETTING ON THE SCALE AND SEEING HOW MUCH WE WEIGH

and I said, I will not be getting on the scale in front of you. You don't need to know that. He got mad.

I tried to explain to him that it's just a number. I've been doing a lot of Pilates so my body is shrinking but I'm not losing pounds.....he doesn't get it...

I don't think it's any of his busines.

I'm never going to be skinny. And I'm never going to be one of those people who go to the gym every day, and never eats anything good like ice cream or french fries. I know I can lose weight eating small portions and working out 3-4 days a week, I just haven't been doing it.

So now we're in a challenge.

Sorry for the kind of rant but I guess I took this very personally.

But I was curious to know how many of you share that number with your significant other

my FI knows because we work out together and track our progress together. I was totally embarassed to tell him, but he didn't seem phased at all even though I consider my number high or surprising....he was just like "you're muscular and muscle weighs more" LOL

Why hide it? I mean he is your future husband, and he shoud love you no matter what, plus I am a firm believer of no secrets between couples. My FI was shocked to find out that I was 180 a year ago, he couldn't believe I weighed as much as he did ( I am 5'9 so I can hide 5lbs easily - thank god!)

I am now down to 145 and I still compalin about my rolls, but he says he doesn't see them. Fact is we have curves, and the men love that more than any twiggy!

Joe knows. I don't see a reason to hide it. Especially since I'm working on losing weight I get excited and tell him how much I weigh now! Joe has pretty much known my weight all along cause he bought me a new wakeboard for my bday when we first started dating. hee hee megan! And I was the smallest I've ever been then.

I think you already said it; "its just a number" if you really think that then why not do it? It is just a number.

Plus if you really want to lose weight having your partner do it w/ you can be very encouraging and annoying but probably very successful

My FI and I know both of our weights as we are both working out and I am a WW member. I don't care that he knows. When I lose weight, we can both get excited as we see the progress. Being a plus-size gal, I'm not ashamed to tell him. I wouldn't tell the whole world but with him and my mom, I'm comfy talking about it!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
