I agree - I'm sure that most places just want us to be comfortable, but I think everyone's "comfort zone" is just a little bit different :) I guess I'll find out soon enough......

I'm wondering how long I can wait before I actually have to seriously start trying on dresses?? If my wedding isn't until May, I'm thinking I could probably wait until Oct and still be ok? And by then I'll have hopefully lost at least 20 lbs and will maybe feel a little better about how I look in them. How far in advance are you really supposed to buy your dress?

I'm also worried about going shopping now, and if I do happen to find "the one", how does that impact alterations? I am dead serious about losing weight before the wedding and I know they can take it in, but if I drop 40 lbs, is that going to cause chaos? But at the same time I don't want to wait too long, where I'm getting my dress at the very last minute. Dammit, if only I were thin already I wouldn't have this problem, lol.

Keep in mind several things:
1 - Time it takes shopping around at different stores finding "THE ONE"

2 - Time it takes for the dress to come in - Dresses usually have to be ordered and can take 3-4 months for it to come in. Some places I've heard take 6 months!!! You may be lucky enough to get one that is in stock.

3 - Alterations - Some brides need to go back for multiple fittings so you need enough time to get those done as well. Hopefully though you'll try it on and it'll be the Perfect Fit!

I loved Davids Bridal. I love how they took care of you and became your friend. They have PLENTY of gowns in plus sizes. My dress was actually a discontinued one. The only one in the store was too small. They called stores for 15 minutes and found one in my size in North Dakota. I couldn't believe that I found a beautiful plus size dress for only $399!!!

Your photos are beautiful! You looked gorgeous!!! I especially loved the ones of you two sitting on the stairs, and the TTD one #134 is my favourite, you guys just look like such a naturally in love and adorable couple in it!

my faith 21 stuff shipped so i should get it any day now! yay!

but i have a gripe about their website ... if you click to view a faith 21 (i.e. plus size) item, they give you suggestions across the bottom of the page of things "you may also like" ... which is great except none of those items are EVER plus size items. so if you click them you're suddenly out of the plus section, AND you're shit out of luck if you actually really liked the thing, because it won't come in your size. i know they just got into the plus-size game with this faith 21 line, but that is just freakin' annoying.

don't suggest things to me that won't fit my ass ... it's like suggesting that i try exercise.

/rant.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
