We chose the Excellence Riviera. I saw a wedding at it even before I thought of having a DW and I fell in love. I've looked at numerous resorts and to me, none compare. They have amazing reviews, and their packages are wonderful as well. A bit pricey, but worth it in my opinion.

In response to STD's, I think that the sooner you can get them out the better. The longer your guests have to plan out what they need to save the better. As soon as i do figure out where we're getting married and have it booked, my STD's are going out.

Hello 2010 brides!!!

I got engaged on October 25, 2008 and my wedding date is set for April 24, 2010. I have been planning and researching almost everyday since December.

I have actually already booked my wedding at Dreams Tulum and have been speaking with various travel agents for rates. Tammy (the one who started this site) has been great and gave me very reasonable prices on the hotel. I suggest emailing her for any info, she may be able to get you rates at the hotel you have choosen. The only thing i have yet to get any price on is the airfare and airport/hotel transfers. Hopefully I will get some figures around May.

I already order my stds, which should actually be arriving tomorrow!! I'm super excited to see them! I would like to send them out asap but i need to put some final touches on my guest list.

Other than that, I've just been searching the web for ideas about the cake, bouquets, centerpieces and dresses of course.

Happy planning everyone!! And try not to stress out too much, we have at least a whole year to plan. Enjoy your engagement!

Hi everyone! I got engaged in September of last year and am planning for an April 17, 2010 wedding, most likely at the Riu Palace Riviera Maya (but I'm still shopping around since we can't book it yet anyway)!

Jerzygirl- you mentioned contacting Tammy, is she a travel agent?

Hola ladies!

I wouldn't fret on the packages thing - like BillysBride says just check out the 2009 rates and anticipate a mark-up from there, that's what I'm doing too.

We're planning to get married in early 2010 but I am taking into consideration Spring Break and Easter, Mexican holidays, and hurricane season, AND since we're one of those couples who has to pay for this whole thing on their own, it's still up in the air. We're shooting for Feb. 2010 or latest, April 2010. We aren't going the resort route. I read a lot of good things about boutique hotels via Tripadvisor and think it'd be nice to stay at a smaller, more intimate place.

Happy Planning to all and looking forward to getting to know you!

Hey 2010 brides! Our date is 5/15/10 at occidental grand xcaret. We were able to book the date with the hotel already, well TA Dina from the forum did. I plan to send out STDs in april/may and the invites in july or when rates become available.

I chose OGX for its wedding gazebo that over looks the ocean. they have a man-made beach which i am fine with since i enjoy pools more and i love their pools. plus with their beach there are no hard waves coming in so you can snorkel there no problem. I heard from trip adviser there are always tons of fish swimming there. Also the price is not too much for our guests.

Hi.. so i think i heard a few of you are planning to get married in LOS CABOS!!If it wasn't such a long flight from Newark NJ i would have considered it, but since it's about 8 hours with stop overs I decided against. Every other place-resort I looked at I fell in love with the photos but then realized they were in Los Cabos...But i am happy to say i am planning a wedding in Moon Palace!!!

Hi all!

I'm starting over again as well. I was set on Oct 17th '09 at the Barcelo Palace but it wasn't working very well for family and friends. So now I'm hoping for May 22, 2010 at the Barcelo Palace. Just waiting to hear back from the resort so I can confirm the date. I know travel will be more expensive as we had great rates for October, but it was more important to have our loved ones there....Any other Barcelo brides out there been able to confirm their dates yethuh.gif? Thanks

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
