Whew -- what a relief! I've been joking, calling myself a "Bargain-Basement Budget Bride" and I'm glad to join all of you in the cost-conscious SISTERHOOD!

Whenever I watch bridal shows, like "Say Yes To the Dress" on TLC, I feel like I a total cheapskate, since I got my dress, shoes, veil and undergarments (bra & layered slip) for around $750 and these women are spending $5K on their dress alone! I was also excited when I found a triple-row pearl tiara, with matching necklace, earrings and bracelet by a fabulous jeweler in the UK named Jane Carter for $130 (I highly recommend checking out her site at Buy a crystal tiara or pearl tiara headband and wedding jewellery - Beady Eyes Designs). For all of it, I spent less than what ONE tiara would have cost at the bridal salon!

Here's to not overspending wherever possible!

I wanted to bump this to add a new tip. We are having our reception at a night club and since it's already really done up, it's saving us having to put up any decor! I'm not spending anything extra to decorate it. I was also able to talk them into not charging us a rental fee since times are slow in Vegas and letting us to consumption only on alcohol. Most Vegas spots charge $30pp for just beer/wine and we will have plenty of folks who don't drink at all.

OMG I was reading the Budget thread and I almost cancelled my wedding! Unfortunately the economy has hit my family and friends hard so we have a budget and I am sticking to it! So far everything I have purchased has been with a coupon. I have my FI, family and coworkers purchasing stuff with coupons (at work I bring about 3-4 girls with me to various stores and we all use coupons. I am now called the coupon lady and proud of it!!!!!!!!)

I'm couponing like crazy too! I've bought almost everything for my OOT bags with coupons and gotten most of it free! At first my FI thought I was crazy, but now he's really proud of all my bargains. There are somethings we just have to pay for, so I'm trying to save on the small thins as much as possible.

To the person who made progrm fans from Vista, I would love to learn more. I was thinking about using the oversized postcards then possibly cutting them, but I'm not sure. I know I plan on getting wooden fan handles at local festival next week. They hand out fans everywhere, so it should not be hard to get 30 of those. In fact, I might be able to get some hand sanitizer too, I will have to scope that out.

Keep the budget ideas coming!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
