I'm not sure if anyone out there is like me....I am not the "traditional" type of bride. I get alot of satisfaction from doing things differently!

I didn't want to do the typical guest book that everyone signs and you never look at again. So, I decided to go a different route. My parents went back Dominican last February and I asked them to find a map of the Dominican for me. My fiance are getting married at the Gran Bahia Principe in February 2010. She finally found one for me on there last day there, so I guess they aren't the easiest things to find. It's approximately 2ft x 3ft and isn't hard to store as long as it's rolled up. I am going to have my guests sign this really cool map and I'm going to find a really great frame for it and I will hang it in my house so everytime I look at it I remember what a great time we had with all of our friends and family.....

I may also have someone take pictures of my guests on the day of the wedding and have them write some words of wisdom on marriage beside their pictures so I'll have it to look at over the years.

So, does anyone else have any cool or different guest book ideas they'd like to sharehuh.gif

I got mine!!

I am doing seashells! Everyone takes 2 shells, on one they right their thoughts about the day, and on the second a prediction! We will be putting them in a Hurricane vase when we return!

I will post pictures after the wedding, 20 days baby!!!!!!

I'm using a small photo album I puchased in the Dominican. It's made out of Banana Leaf so I will have an engagment photo on the left side of each page, then they can sign on the right side, on the banana leaf.

I'm trying to bring in a the caribbean as much as possible

I'm thinking there are so many great ideas! and I am typically up for the more unusual ideas, but I also don't want too much hastle over a guestbook - something I've seen so many times, just sits in a closet after the fact. So, I think everyone is just different and I think depending on what type of couple you are, depends on which guestbook idea you use.

That being said..... :)

I think I'm going with the coffee table book idea. I LOVE any of the polaroid camera ideas, but I'm not sure if I want coordinate all of that. And I know that a coffee table book of PV where we got married will definitely be visible in our house and we will look through it over and over again. (we went to Puerto Rico last year, and I made a scrap book photo album with those pics and it sits on our coffee table and we always look at it)...so I think I'll check out Borders for a PB book or just wait until we get there and look for one and have guests sign that.

Not sure if someone already posted this or not, but somewhere on one of the zillions of websites I've looked at, there was an idea of getting a bunch of postcards and a photo album. Have you guests writes messages to you on the back of the postcards and then put the cards in the photo album. It makes for a great keepsake...I'm thinking about doing this myself!

We're getting married in Tulum, so we're going to get a book on Tulum, kind of like a coffee table book. Then we're going to have guests sign that book... like a yearbook, on the inside cover or any random page. I think it'll be a great coffee table book that will always remind us of our wedding!
love this idea! just to sit back, grab the book and randomly choose a page. i love it!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
